Giants rally again to beat lowly Rockies 10-7 for 7th straight win

DENVER — Mike Yastrzemski's two-run double in the eighth inning keyed another San Francisco rally, and the Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 10-7 on Wednesday night for their seventh straight victory.
Willy Adames homered and drove in three early runs for the Giants, but they trailed 6-3 entering the eighth before coming back against reliever Tyler Kinley (0-3).
Adames, Heliot Ramos and Dominic Smith singled to load the bases with one out, and Casey Schmitt walked to bring in a run. Yastrzemski then lined a double off the right-center wall to tie it.
Tyler Fitzgerald laid down a bunt against Zach Agnos, and Schmitt slid around the tag of catcher Hunter Goodman with the go-ahead run. Schmitt was initially ruled out but the call was overturned following a replay review.
San Francisco added three insurance runs in the ninth on Wilmer Flores' sacrifice fly, and RBI singles by Schmitt and Yastrzemski.
Goodman hit his 11th homer in the bottom half and the Rockies had two runners on when Orlando Arcia grounded back to closer Camilo Doval for the final out.
Tristan Beck (1-0) tossed three innings of relief for the win.

Brian Daboll makes change to Giants' practice routine on Russell Wilson's suggestion

There are tweaks every year to the offseason workout program, the organized team activity practices and the training camp regimen. This spring, the Giants are going with an increased number of 7-on-7 reps. Head coach Brian Daboll added this in after new quarterback Russell Wilson made the suggestion. 'That's something that Russell feels really good about,' Daboll said Thursday. 'We've added some competitive periods where they have to play the situations out. Not that we didn't do that, but we've placed a little bit more emphasis on it. And not just a third-down situation, but maybe a quarter in a game, time left, score. We've done pretty much, I'd say every day we've done a little bit of that.' This is yet another offensive system for Wilson — the Giants are his fourth team in the past five years — and the more he gets to work in passing drills with defenders on the field, the better for him to speed up the learning process. Russell Wilson throws a pass during the Giants' minicamp practice on June 12, 2025. AP 'I think it's important to listen to the quarterbacks. They're the ones that are touching the ball on every play,' Daboll said. The Giants face the Jets on Aug. 16 in their annual preseason matchup. Earlier that week, the two teams will engage in two joint practices, one at the Giants facility and another at the Jets facility. Giants coach Brian Daboll talks with reporters on June 12, 2025. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post Daboll liked the way a joint practice worked last summer, arranging it with then-Jets coach Robert Saleh. Daboll was able to make it work again this year with first-year Jets coach Aaron Glenn. 'I have a good relationship with A.G.,' Daboll said. Known him for a long time. Obviously, he was with Detroit the last couple years, and he and I have a good working relationship, a good personal relationship as well. It was good to sit down and kind of iron through some of the things that we wanted to get done, logistics of it. 'We thought that would be good for both teams. Kind of traveling a little bit, good for the fan base. So, it was really easy to work with A.G., and those are competitive days and good for the team.' The Giants also face the Bills and Patriots in the preseason, but will not do any joint practices with those teams.
