These five-star headphones look like Beats but are a fraction of the price

Daily Mirror01-06-2025
Shoppers can enjoy noise cancelling and a long battery life for just over £30
There's nothing quite like over-ear headphones when we want to shut the world out and enjoy our music. Big brands charge big bucks for the latest tech, but there are some top performing headphones for a fraction of the price – and they look just like Beats.
The Soundcore Q20i headphones are great value for money, with premium features like noise-cancelling, convenient folding, support for Hi-Res music and great sound. Best of all, the normal £49.99 price has been slashed to £31.98 on Amazon.
These headphones look like Beats Studio, but they are a fifth of the price. Priced at just over £30, this is the cheapest price that these headphones typically get to, but Amazon says this is a limited time offer, so shoppers will have to move fast to get the best price.
Shoppers over on the Soundcore site have left nearly 700 five-star reviews for these headphones, while on Amazon, 77% of buyers give it top marks, with an overall review score of 4.6. Considering there are over 19,000 reviews, that's a lot of happy customers.
Of course, premium brands still have something to offer and if shoppers are after something that sounds better and is higher quality, then the Bose QuietComfort SC is a great place to turn. Best of all, customers can snap up the Bose headphones nearly half price at the moment, costing £199.95 direct from Bose instead of £289.95, offering better build quality, better sound quality and better noise cancellation.
Back to those affordable Soundcore Q20i headphones and there's 40 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation, or a massive 60 hours without. There's a transparency mode so the wearer can hear the world around them if they don't want all that noise blocked out.
The sound comes from large 40mm drivers, with the support for Hi-Res music meaning better quality from sources like Apple Music or Amazon Music, allowing users to really get the best out of their music. The cable is needed for that top-quality performance, however, and when using the cable, noise cancellation isn't available, which is a drawback compared to some more expensive headphones, like the Sony 1000XM4.
Buyers praise the value to money that they offer, with one saying 'Soundcore is a great competitor to Sony or JBL!' Other buyers talked about the great noise cancelling: 'The noise cancelling feature is probably the stand-out feature. At this price point, it really puts them up there with flagship devices.'
Some shoppers, however, highlighted that the settings can be a bit fiddly. 'Sound is good but if you're cycling it seems to catch the wind wrong and it's all you can hear. Edit - change the noise cancelling settings and they're fine. User error' said one shopper, suggesting that wearers might pick the wrong mode by mistake.
Customers says that these are comforable headphones with good padding on the earpieces, while they weigh 259g, which just a little heavier than those Bose headphones that I mentioned. They also come with a case so they can be packed flat when travelling.
If customers are in the market for over-ear noise cancelling headphones for their daily commute or travels, then the Soundcore Q20i offer good value for money and a full range of features.

'Amazing' Tefal blender that left shoppers 'genuinely impressed' down by 43%

The Tefal Blendforce II Blender, now £39.99, offers power, versatility, and a sleek 2L glass jug for everyday cooking. Blenders have become an essential kitchen tool for those looking to prepare smoothies, soups, sauces, and more with minimal effort. The Tefal Blendforce II Blender aims to combine power, versatility, and ease of use, making it a practical choice for everyday cooking and healthy meal prep. Available on Amazon for £39.99, down 43% from its regular price of £69.99, the Tefal Blendforce II Blender comes in a sleek black finish with a 2-litre glass jug and 1.25-litre effective capacity. Its 800W motor drives four removable Powelix stainless-steel blades, designed for fast and efficient blending. Users can choose between two speeds or the pulse function, whether crushing ice, making smoothies, or blending hot soups. The thermal shock-resistant glass jug handles temperatures up to 80°C, while the built-in air cooling system keeps the motor from overheating. A 3-in-1 smart lock simplifies assembly, secures the blades automatically, and allows safe cleaning, while suction cups keep the unit stable during use. For those looking at alternatives, the Philips HR2041/01 ProBlend 1.9L Plastic Jug Blender is available for £30 at Argos with a 4.4-star rating from 1,127 reviews. Another option is the Ninja BN495UK 2 Piece Auto IQ Personal Blender, priced at £100 at Argos and rated 4.8 from 532 reviewers. While these models offer similar functionality, the Tefal Blendforce II is noted for its glass jug and robust Powelix blades, giving it a unique edge for some users. Customer feedback reflects a generally positive response with some caveats. One reviewer shared, 'I wasn't expecting too much at this price point, but I've been genuinely impressed. Assembly was straightforward, and it's surprisingly quiet when running, much quieter than my old one. The juice comes out smooth, with very little pulp.' Another added, 'Amazing blender, heavy glass jug, sturdy and well put together. Two speeds and pulse. Great for smoothies and soups. Very versatile, easy to clean, dishwasher safe. Highly recommended.' Daily users also praised its performance: 'Used daily to make smoothies, easily blends frozen fruit, mixes well. It's a little loud but then again you're blending frozen fruits. Good value for breakfast protein smoothies before the gym.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. One noted, 'Extremely disappointed! The blender lasted less than 20 months and stopped working without any warning. On top of that, the plastic cover at the base broke just a few days after purchase.' Another reviewer warned about its limitations: 'This is good if you're making a full smoothie or something similar. It's terrible for making pesto. Don't expect much from this blender. I'm buying another more powerful one.' Overall, the Tefal Blendforce II Blender offers a reliable and versatile blending experience for smoothies, soups, and general kitchen tasks, although some users note durability and performance limitations with certain ingredients. Ugreen Nexode retractable power bank and chargers now available at best prices

There are some really tempting deals on Amazon for most of this new tech | Ugreen This article contains affiliate links. If you travel a lot, or even if you just spend a bit of time exploring the great outdoors, you'll be familiar with the need to charge up your tech on the move. Whether it's a phone or a drone, charging on the go generally requires two things. A power source, and a cable. Ugreen is one of a handful of companies embracing a new technological trend of blending these two parts into one device. And I've been testing the latest selection of Nexode retractable device over the summer. Here's what I've discovered about them. Ugreen Nexode Power Bank The retractable cable can pump out up to 100 watts | Ugreen Finding a portable power bank with a 20,000mAh battery and a 165 watt output isn't much of a challenge these days. But finding one with a retractable cable is. And finding one for less than £100 used to be pretty much impossible - until now. This Nexode power bank is a fairly heavy little thing, but it packs in all the tech you'd need from a portable power source. The display, for example, is easy to understand and gives you all the information you'll need about what's going in, what's going out, and how much is left in the tank. On the top, there's a USB-A port, a USB-C port which can accept power in and out, and then the trick retractable cable. The additional sockets are really useful | Ugreen It's easy to undersell this technology. Even though the power bank comes with a meaty USB-C cable in the box, sometimes you just don't want another peripheral to pack away - and being able to pop out a thin, flat cable that's rated at 100 watts is so useful. It can even double as the unit's charging lead. So you simply don't need to carry wires around any more. The cable doesn't go out all that far, perhaps just over half a metre. But you can stop it at any stage, and it's comfortably long enough to have it sat next to your phone, or tablet, or laptop, or... Whatever it is you're charging. To retract it, just give it a little tweak and it recoils quickly and smoothly. And the plug sits flush on the base of the unit, held on by a magnet. It's so neat. The fact it can put out 100 watts - more than enough for most smartphones on the market - and the fact it can charge up from flat in two hours, really is the icing on the cake. It's a brilliant bit of kit. Ugreen Nexode 65W Charger There are smaller and larger versions - but the Amazon deal for the 65 watt version is such a bargain | Ugreen I really think this might be the best use of a retractable cable, especially for frequent travellers. It has two USB sockets, A and C, and a short retractable cable built in. This means you simply don't need to carry a wire around with you any more. As long as you only need to charge one device at a time, it's got a 60 watt cable ready to go. And, if you do need to top up another device, just connect a cable and share up to 65 watts of power across two or three sockets. GaN USB wall plugs can obviously be much more compact than this, and it is a little heavy, but it's just such a neat little all-in one unit and an absolute bargain if you can catch the offer. Ugreen Nexode Car Charger Car charging has never been more convenient | Ugreen Similar to the wall charger, this compact little car charger offers a retractable cable aimed at keeping the inside of your car clutter-free. Quite remarkably, it has a potential output of 145 watts, which is spread across four different power sources. There's one USB-A socket, two USB-C sockets, and a retractable cable. You might think this is a bit of a niche product, given that modern cars have at least a few USB-C sockets these days, and maybe even a built-in wireless charger. But not all do. And even if your car is kitted out, it's ideal for people who take a lot of tech with them on road trips. It's also going to be very useful for families, because kids will no longer need to fight over the socket in the back. There are plenty of outputs once this is plugged in. Being able to share 145 watts from one power source is more than enough reason to invest in one of these, but the retractable cable means there's one less thing to lose down the side of the seat. It's a shame the built-in cable pops out awkwardly rather than tucks away like the other units do, but apart from that it's a top piece of tech for a pretty decent price. Ugreen Nexode Retractable USB-C Cable This handy little cable reel is perfect for travellers | Ugreen This might be one of those devices nobody really strictly needs, but everyone really wants. It's a little "puck" that contains two lengths of high-output USB-C lead that you can use for charging and data transfer. The handy thing about it is its neatness. No more wrapping up cables and coming back to them to find them all tangled, this little gadget packs in a metre of flat wire, ready to reel out and reel in any time. It's small enough to fit in a pocket quite easily, but big enough to provide up to 100 watts of power. Yes, you can buy retractable cables like this in a pound shop, but they absolutely won't be able to charge a MacBook Pro, or transfer data at up to 480Mbps. Perhaps it is a luxury item, but it's far from a luxury price. It's a great addition to the Nexode retractable range. XGimi Horizon Ultra 4K projector drops to £849 with free £179 stand

XGimi's Horizon Ultra Pro has never been this cheap - and there's a free stand on offer, too | Amazon This article contains affiliate links. We may earn a small commission on items purchased through this article, but that does not affect our editorial judgement. Amazon has dropped the XGimi Horizon Ultra 4K projector to £849 and is bundling in a free stand worth £179 for a limited time. Sign up to our daily newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! Did you know with a Digital Subscription to Edinburgh News, you can get unlimited access to the website including our premium content, as well as benefiting from fewer ads, loyalty rewards and much more. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... The XGimi Horizon Ultra has just plunged in price. After being discounted from its original £1559 price to around £1,200 for several months, Amazon has just knocked 47% off and it can now be bought for £849 - but that's not the best bit. Because, for a limited time, you'll also get a free XGimi floor stand, designed specifically to fit the Horizon Ultra, saving a further £179. This means you're saving nearly £900 overall on a home cinema bundle that will elevate your evenings in front of Netflix to a different stratosphere. The immersive cinema experience is just the start - Android and Chromecast give you access to all the major apps | Amazon The XGimi Horizon Ultra was the world's first 4K long-throw projector with Dolby Vision when it was launched, and it's still one of the most impressive smart projectors out there. Its dual light technology gives it 2,300 ISO lumens, which is bright enough to make colours pop in any lighting condition, and its intelligent screen adaptation figures out all your visual settings for you, keeping the image quality at an optimum in any environment. It comes with Android and Chromecast baked in, so you can access all the key audio and visual apps, and it connects to your home WiFi, or you can plug in peripherals such as PCs or gaming consoles. The stylish stand usually costs £179 - but it's a free gift for a limited time only | Amazon A pair of built-in 12w Harmon/Kardon speakers gives it an immersive sound, and you can link it up to your own sound system to enhance it further. The Horizon Ultra can project images out to a 200" screen, and it can be mounted on a wall, ceiling, or on its aluminium stand - which is height adjustable, and designed to suit the style of the projector. Accessing the deal and ensuring you get the free stand is a little complicated, but on this deal page, make sure you click on the 'how to claim' link before adding anything to your basket, and then follow the instructions. This is a limited-time deal, and Amazon hasn't said how many are in stock, so if you're keen on developing your home entertainment setup, now's your chance.
