ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) Borouge Plc has announced its collaboration with Honeywell to conduct a proof of concept for AI-powered autonomous operations, which has the potential to revolutionise plant operations in the UAE.The collaboration between Borouge and Honeywell is set to deliver the petrochemical industry's first AI-driven control room designed for full-scale, real-time operation, establishing a new standard for the future of AI in petrochemicals.Commenting on the agreement, Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Borouge, said, 'Borouge's AI, Digitalisation, and Technology (AIDT) transformation programme is setting new standards in operations, innovation and business performance. By collaborating with global AI leaders such as Honeywell, we are accelerating growth, driving efficiency, and enhancing shareholder value. This project further strengthens Borouge's competitive edge as we continue to deliver on our ambitious AIDT roadmap.'As part of the collaboration agreement, both companies will bring their expertise in process technology and autonomous control capabilities to identify new opportunities to deploy Agentic AI solutions and advanced machine learning algorithms.For his part, George Bou Mitri, President of Honeywell Industrial Automation, Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, Central Asia, said, 'By integrating AI and automation technologies into core operations, we are helping unlock new levels of efficiency, safety, and performance. This agreement shows how advanced technologies, applied with purpose, can reshape industrial operations at scale.'The initiative aims to deploy proof-of-concept technologies to enhance Borouge's operations across its Ruwais facilities in the UAE.
The project is a key component of Borouge's company-wide AIDT programme, which is projected to generate $575 million in value this year. In 2024, Borouge's diverse portfolio of over 200 AIDT initiatives—spanning operations, health and safety, sales, sustainability, and product innovation—generated $573 million in value.

This reflects the ministry's commitment to improving government services and boosting operational efficiency across the sports session was attended by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, and Ghanim Mubarak El-Hajeri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sports, along with more than 40 representatives from national sports Al Falasi emphasised that organising the first Customer Council for 2025 reflects the ministry's commitment to involving customers in the development of sports stated, 'At the Ministry of Sports, we operate according to a participatory approach based on innovation, integration, and flexibility. We believe that proper development begins with the customer, who is best positioned to identify challenges and propose practical solutions based on their daily experience."In this context, Customer Councils serve as a key tool for direct engagement, identifying areas for improvement, and adopting proposals that simplify procedures and reduce administrative burdens on customers, in alignment with the 'Zero Bureaucracy' programme, thereby contributing to the UAE Government's journey toward global leadership in delivering services that meet and exceed customer expectations.'He added that the ministry launched the 'Sportifai' digital transformation platform, which primarily aims to digitise processes and accelerate their completion to facilitate access to services. The platform also provides data to all sports entities in the country and connects them within a unified ecosystem, utilising the latest technologies based on artificial intelligence and precise this integration of direct engagement and digital transformation, we aim to offer a seamless, equitable, and flexible experience for all users, while also enhancing service efficiency to support the future of Emirati sports.'The 'Customer Councils' are one of several innovative government tools designed to enhance communication with stakeholders. It provides an open and inclusive platform for exchanging ideas, addressing challenges, and identifying opportunities for the Council, dedicated teams within the Ministry of Sports responsible for service development and bureaucracy reduction began reviewing the proposals and feedback submitted by federation representatives. These are being prioritised for implementation to support operational excellence and raise service quality across the Councils are part of the Ministry's broader efforts to enhance user experiences, streamline administrative procedures, reduce documentation, and expand access to efficient, tech-enabled sports services supported by technology and AI. The move reflects the ministry's commitment to enhancing transparency and flexibility in service delivery, in line with the objectives of the "We the UAE 2031" vision, which aims to position the UAE as one of the world's most efficient and leading governments.

Flights to Damascus will operate daily from Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB).This move comes as more airspace in the region reopens and restrictions are lifted. The carrier plans to resume its full schedule across the network from 01 July, following the completion of all necessary assessments. This remains a developing situation, and both flight and network planning are continuously reviewed, with flydubai operating within approved international air corridors and adjusting frequencies as on the resumption of operations, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said: 'We continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust our flight schedule accordingly. Our agility and preparedness have enabled us to act quickly during challenging times, while adhering to the highest operational standards and always prioritising the safety of our crew and passengers.
