Traveler says it took ‘1 minute' to be ‘welcomed back' to US, urges ‘race baiters' to stop spreading airport rumors
The user wrote on Reddit, 'Traveling from Mexico city to Dallas, I was traveling by myself. I have green card through marriage. I have been in the US for 14 years at this point. Not as much as a parking ticket. I was running late for a connection, and the customs officer was empathetic about the delay, and it took me < 1 minute to be 'welcomed back'.'

'For all of you race baiters, I am brown with a dark long beard. Stop fear mongering. There have been isolated incidents with people from all over the world, not just brown people. There is also immense misinformation spreading around some cases. So if you are scared, that's valid. If you don't want to be scared, that's valid too because there isn't any rational reason especially if you don't have a prior record of any kind,' the person added.
'I'm sick and tired of the race baiting'
Several people travelling to the United States have reported increased scrutiny at airports, with some claiming they are being subjected to random searches, according to USA Today. While immigration authorities may not be breaking the law by extensively searching travellers, the experiences have left individuals unsettled, according to them.

However, in the comment section, most Reddit users agreed with the traveler who shared their experience. 'I came in through JFK a few weeks ago and watched the visa line with interest. Longest it took anyone was 30 seconds. Which I found odd, because according to Reddit, they all get sent to El Salvador,' one user wrote. 'Yeah my wife (brown and got a green card a couple months ago) and i drove to Mexico and drove back and aside from a doggy taking a sniff at the trunk they didn't even really talk to us either way. I think they mostly rely on tech and dogs for trafficking and smuggling and only question immigration status if they have probable cause. The stories of 'My uncle was born in Boston but immigration took him at the border and now he's dangling from a helicopter in El Salvador because be has brown eyes' all seem to be fake when you investigate them even a tiny bit. Making up stories like that is not something I can logically understand or have any drive to do but I don't logically understand feet porn either,' another wrote.
'AMEN!!!! As a fellow brown person (hispanic) I'm sick and tired of the race baiting! Obviously more hispanics are stopped as we make up a disproportionate percentage of legal and illegal immigrants. But don't use our skin color as an example for your politics. Legals get through easy. Illegals have a hard time. I love that about this country,' one user wrote. Another said, 'Yup got in from overseas two weeks ago. I have an expired GC with an extension letter. It was the smoothest entry I have ever had.' 'Returned from Colombia and buzzed through in like 10 seconds. One question what was I doing traveling to Colombia. I answered and the guy gave me pass real quick. No sweat,' another said.

Jail term over 2 years or serious charges: MHA issues new grounds to cancel OCI cards
The Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card will be liable for cancellation if its holder is sentenced to imprisonment for a term of at least two years or has been named in a chargesheet for an offence carrying a possible punishment of seven years or more, the home ministry said in a notification on Tuesday. The notification, issued via the official gazette under clause (da) of Section 7D of the Citizenship Act, 1955, outlines that the new rules apply to any OCI registration meeting either of these conditions. An Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration shall be liable to get cancelled when a person has been sentenced to imprisonment for term of not less than two years or has been charge-sheeted for an offence entailing punishment of imprisonment for seven years or more: MHA… — ANI (@ANI) August 12, 2025 Introduced in August 2005, the OCI scheme allows Indian-origin foreign nationals to visit India without a visa and provides multiple entry, multi-purpose, lifelong access. It applies to all persons of Indian origin who were citizens of India on or after January 26, 1950, or were eligible to become citizens on that date — but excludes those who are or have been citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, or any other country specified by the government. The changes add fresh legal grounds for the cancellation of OCI status, which was previously revoked mainly on security, fraud, or procedural grounds. (With Inputs from PTI)

Madras HC orders trial in MS Dhoni's ₹100 crore defamation case
Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to record his statement following the Madras High Court ordered a trial in a ₹ 100 crore defamation case filed by him against two prominent media channels, an IPS officer and a journalist, who dragged his name in the 2013 IPL betting scandal, reported The Hindu. The report added that Justice CV Karthikeyan has appointed an advocate commissioner who will record the evidence on behalf of Dhoni. This decision is based on the fact that MS Dhoni is a celebrity, and his presence could lead to chaos. Earlier in 2014, Dhoni filed a case and sought damages of ₹ 100 crore from the defendants – two prominent media channels, an IPS officer and a journalist. Dhoni had alleged that defamatory remarks were made against him during a Television debate on the IPL betting scandal. Senior counsel PR Raman submitted an affidavit from Dhoni seeking the start of the trial, reported The Hindu, adding it is pending for a decade. 'The above request is made with the intent to avoid any undue delay (in disposal of the suit pending in the High Court for over a decade) and to support the fair, just, and speedy adjudication of the suit. I state that I shall extend my full co-operation with the Advocate Commissioner and comply with all directions issued by this honourable court regarding the trial and the recording of evidence," The Hindu quoted the affidavit as reading. The betting scandal of 2013 in the Indian Premier League is considered to be a major blot in the T20 league's history. In the scandal, three cricketers were found guilty of having indulged in spot fixing while two franchises – Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals – were suspended for two years.

Bad news for Gautam Adani, US requests assistance from India in alleged bribe case, says Indian authorities ‘have not yet…'
Gautam Adani (File) The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) told a federal court in New York that it has requested assistance from India's Ministry of Law and Justice to serve legal documents to billionaire Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar in connection with a civil securities case filed last year. The status update filed on August 11 is the same as the last hearing on June 27. What SEC Informed US Court In Adani Case? In the latest update submitted to Magistrate Judge James R Cho of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY), the SEC said it is continuing to pursue formal service of the summons and complaint under the provisions of the Hague Service Convention. The defendants, who are based in India, are yet to be officially served with the summons. The US SEC has to serve the summons to Adani Group founder and chairman Gautam Adani and his nephew Sagar in the alleged USD 265 million payoffs to win lucrative renewable power supply contracts through proper diplomatic channels, as it has no jurisdiction to summon a foreign national directly. What SEC Said About Indian Authorities? SEC said the Indian authorities 'have not yet effected service' to its request for serving the summons. 'The SEC intends to continue communicating with the India MoLJ and pursue service of the defendants via the Hague-Service Convention, and will the court apprised of its efforts,' the filing said. No dates for the next hearing were mentioned. The Adani group has already denied all charges. (With Inputs From PTI)
