I love when the content warning is for 'smoking and mild violence.' My kind of show! I'm very worried about George. (For those inexplicably reading my recap instead of watching the show for yourselves, he's been shot.) Carrie Coon-Emmy-qualification time! Go, girl, give us everything. Doctors really used to just operate with clean water, ice, and towels. I'm glad the doctor specified clean water, TBH. For someone who's been watching Grey's Anatomy for most of my life, I'm really hating this bullet-retrieval scene. Actually, this doctor kind of slayed. Presiding over your husband's kitchen-table surgery in a dress featuring not one, not two, but three butt bows…that's my Carrie Coon, she's iconic. Marian's bangs are really bang-ing today! Albeit in different directions. Make young, aimless men in New York go to church again. (Or temple, or mosque, or zendo, whatever, just get them out of Nowadays.) Man, it's going to be upsetting to stop hearing Cynthia Nixon toggle between Little Period Voice and Miranda Hobbes voice when And Just Like That… is over this week. Wow, George looks pretty good for having recently been shot! 'I'm going back to the club.' Now that truly sounds like a Nowadays fuckboy! The Jewish-mother need to see Peggy marry a handsome doctor…it is strong within me. Peggy, no! Don't cry! Now I'm crying! What is this jumprope around Agnes's neck? Oh, it's a lace collar. This lady whose name I can't remember kind of looks like Mary Louise Parker. Ah, yes, the 'scourge of divorce.' I love how much Larry's parents ride for Marian. Should I make my Instagram bio 'feeble debutante'? A cotillion of divorcees actually sounds like a really fun night out…or a description of last year's biggest literary-fiction trend. Imagine being a party planner in this era. So many invitations, so many balls! And no access to GCal! Nobody really cares if you don't go to the party, Marian. Words to live by! Aw, Agnes giving up the head of the table to Ada? I never thought I'd see the day! And clearly, neither did Ada. Talk about a legendary hat meet-up! I never, ever want Audra McDonald to be mad at me for any reason. I don't hate the good doctor's white pinstriped suit! Ball time!!!!!!!!!! Bertha looks good. Heh, this 'end-of-season finery' comment feels meta. It is the end of Season 3, after all! Aw, it's a mother-and-child reunion. 'I've got a house on the Hudson, but it's quite modest' —the absolute richest person you know. Aw, I just want Peggy to be happy. Ditto Marian. We love a tiny moment (okay, crumb) of romance between Bertha and George. Well, that's over in a very real way. I do like Bertha's fussy little ruffle collar, though, if not the state of her marriage. Women love to hold onto brocade sectionals while they double over crying on this show. Aw, Gladys is pregnant! Oh, The Gilded Age, I will miss you (and your various hats) so greatly. Come back onto my TV screen soon! Oh, slay, it's already been renewed.

Why Dennis Quaid's iconic 'Parent Trap' pool scene was a costume designer's nightmare
Not even Elizabeth James could save Dennis Quaid from the fashion heroics of "The Parent Trap." Quaid starred alongside then-newcomer Lindsay Lohan and Natasha Richardson in the 1998 family comedy about estranged twin sisters Hallie Parker and Annie James, who scheme to reunite their divorced parents after meeting during a chance encounter at summer camp. One of Quaid's most memorable scenes from the Disney film, which grossed $92.1 million at the global box office, is when his character Nick Parker spots his fashion designer ex, Elizabeth James (Richardson), at a hotel pool area. Stunned to see his former spouse after more than a decade, Nick quickly — and ungracefully — makes his way across the deck to talk to James, eventually falling into the pool after bumping into a hotel employee. Nick, who was dressed in a crisp two-piece suit and black dress shoes, later emerges from the pool and sheepishly walks over to James to greet her. "Dennis was very game to fall into the pool a few times in a row, which meant drying off, changing, and taking another spill," the film's director Nancy Meyers told People magazine in an interview published Aug. 9. "He was just wonderful to work with." The now-iconic scene was filmed at The Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey, California, and turned the marina hotel into something of a pop cultural landmark over the years. "Of all the filming we have had at the hotel over the past 35 years, that is the movie that guests mention the most," Ed Curry, the hotel's director of sales and marketing, told the magazine. Costume designer Penny Rose told People magazine that Quaid changed between six identical designer suits from Giorgio Armani for the aquatic scene, with the production crew even spraying the suits with pool water to test the fabric. Rose noted that the chlorine from the pool water caused the suit to shrink. "I mean, I've had Tom Cruise in a fake suede shirt so that he can get it wet," Rose said. "But you can't really replicate an Armani suit." A 'Parent Trap' revival? Dennis Quaid not sure it's possible without Natasha Richardson Quaid reflected on the impact of "The Parent Trap" on his career in a March interview with People magazine, telling the outlet that the beloved dad character has become his signature role. "Everybody grew up with 'The Parent Trap,' and now there's always new kids coming along," said Quaid, jokingly adding: "I tell people, 'I was your babysitter because your parents would put this on. Today's NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Tuesday, August 12
In case you missed Monday's NYT Mini, you can find the answers here: The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper's larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays. Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you'll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives. The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can't quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer. The trickiest clue is 'someone who's always taking shots at you' which I thought was BULLY, because it fit, but BOXER is more clever. DOXED needs a certain set of internet knowledge skills to get and it may be tough without that. And you need the most basic Spanish on earth to get PERO, which many are not going to have.
