Kid Cudi Details 'Heartbreaking' Falling Out With Kanye West: 'I Don't Know That Version of Him'
On CBS Mornings on Wednesday, Cudi explained that his and West's relationship fizzled out. After he said the situation was 'sad,' interviewer Anthony Mason asked him to clarify in 'what way' the falling out disappointed him.

'The freedom that we experienced when we were creating, it just will never happen again, you know?' Cudi said. 'And that is the heartbreaking side of things. But, hey, I had a lot of things in my life break my heart, and I've been able to survive and move past it.'
Mason then asked if West broke his 'heart in some way' and Cudi admitted, 'I think he has over and over, multiple times.'
Cudi went on to claim that West broke 'the code of a friendship.' Mason asked if he could see himself ever reconciling with West, and the rapper explained that he and West have tried to work through their issues many times in the past.
'We've tried since then, you know? But we always have a falling out. He said some things that there's just no coming back from. The comments that he's had about Virgil Abloh are just some of the most evil, vile, disturbing, fucking-up things I've ever heard,' he said, referring to the several rants West went on against the late fashion designer on social media. Abloh died in 2021 at the age of 41 following a battle with cancer.
'Every time he took a dig at Virgil, it just made me super angry. Virgil was an angel to everyone; there's no coming back from that, man,' Cudi said. 'Like, I'm done with you, and it breaks my heart, because I loved Kanye, you know? I really loved him; he was a part of my life changing. And at some point, he was a really good friend, but the man that he has become, I just don't know that guy anymore. I don't know him. I don't know that version of him, and it's really heartbreaking.'
Cudi first met West a few years before he was signed to his GOOD Music label in 2008.
Despite once being good friends, the musicians faced many ups and downs in the public eye. In 2014, West used Cudi's old vocals on Yeezus without asking him for permission. While Cudi publicly spoke out against West, the duo ultimately made amends and even reunited onstage for collaborations in 2016 and 2017.
However, their issues continued in February 2022 when West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, started dating Cudi's friend Pete Davidson. 'Just so everyone knows Cudi will not be on Donda because he's friends with you know who,' West wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post at the time, tagging both Kardashian and Cudi.
Shortly after West made the jab, Cudi responded in a post via X. 'We talked weeks ago about this,' Cudi wrote at the time. 'You're whack for flipping the script and posting this lie just for a look on the internet. You ain't no friend. BYE.'

I'm back in the hospital now. And I'm coming to you again, asking you to remember me in your prayers once more. So I ask you again, if it's not too much that you can remember me in your prayers. I'm a great believer in the power of prayers. I think the All Mighty above is looking over, looking over us. So remember me. Please.' Trending on the Timeline: Tamar Braxton's Health & Family Matters Reboot
Source: ione nicole thomas / IONE, VIA NICOLE THOMAS The culture is buzzing today with two major stories that have everyone talking. From prayers for our girl Tamar Braxton to some exciting news about a potential 90s reboot, let's break down what's trending on the timeline. First and most importantly, we need to lift up Posted On The Corner alumni Tamar Braxton in our prayers right now. The singer took to her Instagram story yesterday with some heartbreaking news that had fans shook. In her own words, she said, 'I struggle to write this, but everyone keeps calling me. And honestly, I can't even really talk to anybody because I'm so weak. Almost died.' Tamar revealed she was found in a pool of blood over the weekend with serious facial injuries. She's dealing with a fractured nose, lost some teeth, and has limited mobility. The fact that she even took the time to let us know she's okay while going through this shows her heart. We care about your data. See our privacy policy. We don't need all the details—what matters is that our girl is alive and asking for our support. The least we can do is keep her in our thoughts and prayers as she recovers from whatever happened. Tamar has always been real with her fans, and right now she needs that love returned. On a brighter note, get ready for some nostalgic vibes! Remember Family Matters from the 90s? Well, it might be making a comeback as an animated series, and honestly, we're here for it. Bryton James, who played little Richie Crawford back in the day, spilled the tea about this potential reboot. He's been working behind the scenes, creating pilots and getting animators on board. The whole concept is ready to go—they just need Warner Brothers to give them the green light. What makes this reboot different is how they're approaching it. Instead of just rehashing the same old content, they're taking classic episodes and modernizing them for 2025. Think of it as remixing your favorite songs but for TV. They're keeping the heart of what made Family Matters special while making it relevant for a whole new generation. This isn't just another lazy reboot attempt. The team is putting in real work to make sure it hits different. Animation opens up so many creative possibilities too—they can do things that wouldn't have been possible with the original live-action format. Stay tuned as both stories develop, and don't forget to keep Tamar in your prayers! SEE ALSO
