A young NHL forward could be on the move very soon. Hockey insider Frank Seravalli has shared a strong opinion about JJ Peterka's future with the Buffalo Sabres. He believes the team may be ready to trade the winger before the upcoming NHL Draft.
What he said has now started a new wave of rumors in the hockey world.
Frank Seravalli thinks JJ Peterka trade may happen soon
NHL correspondent Frank Seravalli spoke boldly about JJ Peterka during the most recent episode of the DFO Rundown podcast on Monday, June 17, 2025. He said he believes the Buffalo Sabres could trade the young German forward rather soon, possibly before the NHL Draft, which runs June 28, 2025.
'I think we see a JJ Peterka trade materialize between now and the NHL Draft,'
Seravalli said during the show.
Buffalo selected JJ Peterka, 22, in the second round (No. 34 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft after two whole Sabres seasons. Peterka played 82 games this past season (2024–25), 28 goals and 34 assists.
Although he had a fantastic year personally, the Sabres missed the playoffs nonetheless. Seravalli observed that the Sabres are in a situation where they might wish to change up the roster in order to produce greater results.

Trading a young and talented player like Peterka could bring in a top defenseman or center in return.
JJ Peterka's strong season raises his value in trade talks
Every year JJ Peterka has improved since his NHL membership. He struck 12 goals in 2023–24. This year he more than tripled that figure. Given his speed, talent, and scoring ability, several clubs will be anxious to have him included in their lineups.

The NHL Draft will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, from June 28–29, 2025.
As teams prepare, trade talks usually increase. Seravalli believes Peterka could be part of one of those major trades.
Although there is no official news from the Sabres front office, the trade rumors are rising. Should a deal occur, it will probably call for a team in search of an offensive upside fast winger. Peterka satisfies that requirement, and his age increases his worth even further. Fans are now wondering whether Frank Seravalli's prediction comes true.

IND vs ENG: 'No one expected him to do that' - Who said what about Rishabh Pant's somersault celebration?

Rishabh Pant's celebration after ton against England (AP Photo/Scott Heppell) NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant has never been one to stick to the script, and he proved that once again at Headingley with a celebration as electrifying as his innings. After notching up his seventh Test century in classic Pant style, charging down the track and launching Shoaib Bashir over deep midwicket for a towering six, the India vice-captain stunned fans and teammates alike with a surprise somersault celebration. The move, equal parts flamboyant and athletic, quickly set social media ablaze and became the highlight of Day 2 of the first Test between India and England. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! While Pant's acrobatics wowed viewers, they also drew amused and admiring reactions from former cricketers and teammates. Dinesh Karthik , speaking on the broadcast, quipped, "Neither could I do the somersault like him, nor can I bat like him. When I was very young, my parents made me try gymnastics, and I was an utter failure. So let's just leave it there because he's doing it so much nicer when he celebrates it." Former head coach Ravi Shastri also praised Pant's unexpected flair: 'At a very young age, he did a lot of gymnastics. He does it really well. I think it was unique. No one expected him to do that. Nothing wrong with it — though if I tried it, I'd probably end up in a swimming pool!' Cheteshwar Pujara , typically reserved, summed it up simply: 'Rishabh being Rishabh. He does something unique.' Yashasvi Jaiswal credits Shubman Gill after maiden Test ton in England: 'I love it' Pant's celebration mirrored one he had pulled off during the IPL earlier this year, but seeing it on the Test stage added a new level of surprise. His innings — a blistering 102 off 146 balls with 10 boundaries and four sixes — came at a crucial time, forging a 209-run partnership with Shubman Gill (147) to push India beyond the 400-run mark. As fans marveled at the shot-making, it was the flip that stole the spotlight — a moment that perfectly encapsulated Pant's spirit: fearless, fun, and fiercely unforgettable. 'I believe I can do it some more': Neeraj Chopra confident of 90m-plus throws after Paris win

Neeraj Chopra (Photo by) Neeraj Chopra has ticked another box in his illustrious career. He added to his distinguished list of achievements by securing his first Diamond League title win in Paris with an opening throw of 88.16m at Stade Sébastien Charléty on Friday night. Despite a strong challenge from his German rival Julian Weber, who posted an 87.88m throw in his first attempt and ultimately finished second, Neeraj managed to come out on top. This was the first time in the season that Neeraj defeated Weber, who had won the Doha and Poland DL titles. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The Paris win is Neeraj's first DL title in two years, his last coming in Lausanne in June 2023 where he recorded a throw of 87.66m. Since then, Neeraj had finished second in six DL appearances. Competing once again in Paris after eight years — his last outing in 2017 ended in an eighth-place finish with a best throw of 84.67m — Neeraj scored a convincing victory. Following his triumph, Neeraj said, 'It was a very good start. I felt really good at the start. But I had too much speed today. The runway was perfect, but I couldn't control my speed. I need to do some more work on it. I am happy with the throw also. I am hoping for some more good throws in future DL meets.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Зачем на ночь сжигают лавровый лист? Luiz Maurício da Silva of Brazil finished third with a best of 86.62m. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Neeraj is set to compete next at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet on June 24, followed by the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on July 5, a World Athletics category 'A' event. Speaking about his upcoming schedule, Neeraj commented, 'I will compete in Ostrava. I need some recovery time as well. I am excited about this NC Classic also. It's really something that I feel I did for my country and people are supporting. Indian people are following the javelin sport after the Tokyo Olympics. In future, I am thinking of making this event big.' He added: 'I have already broken the 90m barrier in Doha. So now I believe I can do it some more. Mark Chapman and Ian Holland of Washington Freedom celebrate (Photo by Shaun Roy / Sportzpics for MLC) Washington Freedom held their nerve to clinch a thrilling two-wicket win over MI New York in a high-scoring contest. Chasing 189, Freedom were always ahead of the required rate but kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which kept MI New York in the hunt till the end. The chase was laid on a solid platform by opener Mitchell Owen, who came out all guns blazing. Owen smashed a blistering 60 off just 26 balls, hammering five fours and five sixes to put his side in command early on. After his departure, Rachin Ravindra (10) and Andries Gous (14) chipped in with quick runs, but Freedom's middle order struggled to build partnerships.
