HOLIDAYMAKERS have been warned that cyber criminals are selling everything from passport details to boarding passes for as little as £8 on the dark web.
Once they're sold off into the wrong hands they could be used to apply for credit cards in your name or even access your bank account.

Documents fetch as little as £8 online - which enable other criminals to carry out a range of fraud

Experts have cautioned Brits against a common phone mistake that could make it all too easy for online thieves operating on the dark web.
And the seemingly innocent error starts by simply having a photo of your passport on a phone or backed up to the cloud.
Why? Well, if a hacker uses malware to raid your phone they can access that copy and impersonate you to apply for a credit card.
The same goes for any travel agencies who might ask you to send them a digital copy of your passport ahead of your holiday, as you don't know how safe their systems are.
Researchers at NordVPN and Saily uncovered thousands of shocking forums on the dark web forums.
On offer are passport scans, boarding passes, hotel bookings and frequent flyer details.
But not all passports are created equal when it comes to sales on the dark web, with some countries' passports, like Kazakhstan, fetching a maximum of £175.
The details of British passports, as well as those from EU countries, are typically more expensive to acquire, fetching upwards of £4,000 for uncompromised and valid copies.
When passports are recorded as missing or stolen and invalidated, the risk of fraud is reduced, but such documents can still slip past some companies with more relaxed reviewing procedures, NordVPN warned.
Scans of these compromised passports can sell for as little as £8.
What do you need to do to ensure your passport is OK for travel?
"The best way you can protect yourself against these types of fraud is to ensure that all of your devices are kept updated with antivirus software and make sure that anything related to your holiday booking is saved in a secure place," said Marijus Briedis, Chief Technology Officer at NordVPN.
'If you have been asked by your travel agent to send over a copy of your passport, don't be afraid to ask them what they do with that scan once your booking has been completed.
"Never be shy about protecting your privacy.
'Take precautions in the airport too, and don't leave boarding passes in public places, as even these have enough information to put you at risk of identity fraud.
"While you are away, regularly monitor bank accounts to detect suspicious activity early, as well as report lost or stolen documents promptly to limit exposure.
"Passports and travel documents that have been reported as missing or invalid are practically worthless on the dark web.
"Taking out travel insurance is no longer just about losing your suitcase at the airport, it covers you for every eventuality – even a sophisticated scam like having your hotel booking stolen."

Mum sparks backlash after claiming she has to reserve eight sunbeds before day out
Stephanie shared her routine of laying down towels on six sun loungers by the pool at 7am while on holiday in Spain, which was met with a fierce backlash from other holidaymakers A mum‑of‑six faced backlash after she filmed herself reserving sunbeds for her whole family by the pool at dawn while on holiday in Spain, only to leave the hotel for the day. Stephanie, a mum who shares TikTok videos documenting her life with five boys and one girl, recently took a trip to Fuerteventura in Las Palmas, on the Canary Islands. She showed her morning routine: laying towels on sunbeds before enjoying breakfast and popping out to the shops, all before even thinking about returning to the pool. In the video, Stephanie explained that she hadn't yet had her annual leave approved, and suggested that her daughter had been taken out of school during term time. Wading into a contentious issue that can spark arguments even among the most mild‑mannered holidaymakers, she described how she wakes up, reserves the sunbeds, and then heads out. 'We have come as a big family, so we have to be there early,' the mum said. She then showcased her breakfast choices: scrambled eggs, frittata, toast, and the British classic—baked beans. After Stephanie and her family finished their meal, they went shopping before returning to reclaim their reserved sun loungers. While Stephanie and her family enjoyed their day out before some restful time by the pool, the TikTok clip divided viewers. More than 580 comments were left beneath the video, with many criticising the lounger‑hoarding tactics. One person exclaimed: 'I can't believe you claim the sunbeds and then leave.' Another added: 'Why claim sun beds if you're going out for the day?' A third suggested that 'all hotels should remove towels from sunbeds unoccupied for more than 30 minutes, so others can use them.' 'All hotels should do the same thing,' they advised. ''After 30 mins of not [being] on sun lounger, towels are removed and other people get them." Arguably, Stephanie is a victim of a system that pushes everybody to reserve a sunbed. German etiquette expert Birte Steinkamp recently told the Majorca Daily Bulletin how one sunbed-warrior's actions led others to doing the same. 'It's poor etiquette. Beach loungers should only be used when you're ready to occupy them immediately," she said. She added that 'brief absences for swimming or getting a drink is acceptable, but early‑morning towel placement is absolutely inconsiderate and completely unacceptable. If nobody blocked loungers with towels in the morning, everyone would have access to one. After all, we're all seeking the same thing: a peaceful holiday.' Spain has repeatedly seen holidaymakers scrapping over sunbeds. Footage published by Majorca Daily Bulletin highlighted how Cala Agulla beach—near Cala Rajada, Majorca—was practically deserted early yesterday morning (July 21), apart from stray towels claiming spots along the coastline. A recent Yougov poll found that people from certain parts of the UK are much more likely to enter the sunbed wars than others. The West Midlands topps the list, closely followed by people living in England's North West and North East, Wales and Northern Ireland. The results come from a survey of more than 2,500 UK adults, who were asked whether they would get up early to reserve a spot by the pool.

The best bargain destinations for last-minute holidays revealed - as popular beach destination takes the crown
With the summer holidays beginning, many Brits may be trying their best to find a cheap getaway. And the exact destinations families can bag a bargain holiday have been revealed. From the Mediterranean to Europe, there 's deals available from as low as £562 per person in three to four star hotels. TravelSupermarket analysed family holiday searches between July 6 - 20 for departures between July 18 and August 24 and compiled a list of the top ten last minute holidays at great prices. The top two destinations are both in Turkey and priced under £600, with Dalaman coming first at £562 per person, and Antalya following at £591 per person. Costa Brava in Spain places third, costing £640 per person, while Lanzarote is fourth at £666 per person. Located south of Barcelona, Costa Dorada comes fifth at £679, and is followed by Hammamet in Tunisia with an affordable North African alternative costing £701 per person. Back in Europe, Tenerife places seventh at £701, while Costa Blanca ranks eighth at £723. Ten bargain holidays Dalaman, Turkey - £562 per person Antalya, Turkey - £591 per person Costa Brava, Spain - £640 per person Lanzarote, Spain - £666 per person Costa Dorada, Spain - £679 per person Hammamet, Tunisia - £701 per person Tenerife, Spain - £701 per person Costa Blanca, Spain - £723 per person Gran Canaria, Spain - £737 per person Algarve, Portugal - £738 per person Gran Canaria comes ninth at £737, and Portugal's Algarve finishes tenth at £738 per person. However, some destinations seem to spiral with their prices. A trip to Paphos in Cyprus can be as high as £1,146 per person. While Egypt was priced at £1,027 per person and Ibiza in Spain came to £901 per person. Steph Marinkovic, Head of Editorial at TravelSupermarket, described the prices as 'great value' considering the current market. She said: 'We're seeing exceptional value across traditional favourites like the Spanish costas and Canaries, while Turkey continues to offer unbeatable prices for families. 'The fact that families can expect to find average prices from under £600 for 7-night breaks to these stunning destinations is great value in today's market. 'Whether you're drawn to Turkey's all-inclusive resorts, Spain's family-friendly costas, or Portugal's stunning Algarve, there are still exceptional deals available for last-minute bookers.' Chris Webber, Head of Holidays and Deals at TravelSupermarket, put the deals in Turkey down to the increase in capacity in flights to the area. He explained: 'Turkey's dominance in our rankings isn't surprising given the massive capacity increases we've seen this year. 'This year SunExpress has added 10,000 extra seats and new flights to Dalaman and Antalya, Jet2 has launched from London Luton with Turkish routes, and Ryanair has introduced new Stansted services to both Dalaman and Bodrum. 'Dalaman has been a consistently cheap beach destination in our data, so these last-minute prices fit perfectly with that trend. 'We're operating in a lates market now, with more price-conscious customers waiting until the last minute to bag bargains – our data shows exactly where you should start that search.' It comes after the most overcrowded tourist destinations in the world were revealed, with a European country taking the top spot
