Martindale hopes fans come out in force to back his men

The Lions manager told a media briefing: 'I think they (the fans) will come (in big numbers). They normally do for big games, they travel well for the big games and the support is there as well for the big games. I am pretty hopeful there.
'The main stand holds roughly 2,200 I will be hoping that will be as near capacity as possible. I think Falkirk will travel well also.'
The match comes before a tough run for the West Lothian club who then host Hibs on Sunday, August 17, in the second round of the Premier Sports Cup (15.00) followed by a trip to champions Celtic on Saturday, August 23 (15.00) and a visit from Hearts on Saturday, August 30 (15.00).
That is followed by a trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen on Saturday, September 13 (15.00) before a visit by Rangers on Saturday, September 27 (15.00).
Martindale believes that every fixture in the William Hill Premiership is a 'big game' and was asked about building momentum. He said: 'For me, naturally that is what you want to do, but being very pragmatic, that is probably not going to happen.
'So, we are going to approach this season a little bit differently from the previous season. We had some great runs last year, this year is more about individualising every game.
'I don't want to be talking about you have not won in four, you have not won in five, that is going to be a scenario that is going to rear its head at some point.'
He will be taking one game at a time and trying to pick up points. The Lions manager added: 'You will maybe go on a run, but it is not going to be the topic in my conversation with the players.'
Eyeing Saturday's game, it would, he argued, be no surprise if Falkirk win or if Livingston take the points at the Home of the Set Fare Stadium (kick-off 15.00).
He added: 'We managed to came out on top last year, but I am sure that will be motivation for the Falkirk players. I caveat that by saying there was nothing in the game, a moment in the game.'
Finally, the Livi boss said: 'The boys have trained well (this week), no complaints in that front.'

Yan Dhanda joins Dundee after ‘seven calls a day' from Simon Murray

Yan Dhanda revealed his former Ross County team-mate Simon Murray persuaded him to join Dundee on a season-long loan from Hearts. The 26-year-old playmaker has been allowed to move to Dens Park after struggling to establish himself at Tynecastle since joining the Jambos from County on a three-year contract last summer. Dhanda and Dundee skipper Murray enjoyed a fruitful season together in Dingwall in 2023-24 and their ongoing friendship was key to the former Swansea player becoming Steven Pressley's latest summer recruit. 'I had a lot of conversations with Simon, and he told me a lot of good things about the club,' Dhanda told the Dundee website after his loan was announced on Friday evening. 'When I heard so many good things and what the manager is trying to do, I was desperate to come here and to start playing. 'Simon was onto me quite a lot, saying 'people at Dundee really like you', and I was just wanting to play football and get consistent game time. 'Simon spoke highly of the place and the manager phoned me and told me where I fit into his plans and the systems he is going to play. The chat went really well, and from there it all happened quite quickly. 'Simon has been phoning me at least seven times a day and has been on my case for quite a while. Especially in the last couple of days, he's been phoning me a lot, making sure I come here. 'At Ross County, me and Simon had a really good relationship on the pitch and I assisted him quite a few times. He was someone that was great to play with, he's one of my favourite players that I've played with. 'But we are also really good friends off the pitch and when he wanted to get me here, I trusted him because he spoke so highly of the place.' Dhanda will not be available for Saturday's trip to Rangers as he is serving the final game of a suspension carried over from last season while manager Pressley will make a late call on whether or not to include talisman Murray, who has been recovering from a knee injury sustained in the Premier Sports Cup last month. Management can wait as Arfield 'desperate to keep having fun'

Midfielder Scott Arfield wants to delay a move into management for as long as possible as he continues to relish life on the pitch at Falkirk. The 36-year-old started his career at the Bairns and played for Huddersfield, Burnley and Rangers among others before returning to John McGlynn's side in February and helping them to Championship title Saturday's Premiership trip to face Livingston, the former Canada international said: "I'm on my B licence now but the move into management is getting further away if anything."When I was 16 I told myself I was going to play until I'm 40. That's all I've ever said and I'm 37 this year. "Now I'm getting closer to 40, it's not so much that I'm desperate to play until I'm 40. I'm just desperate to keep having fun. "I still love the thought of being a football player and everything that comes with it."I just love being on a football pitch, trying to give people moments and rewarding myself for all the hard work through the years. When that feeling dies, I'm out of here."

Yan Dhanda looks set to leave Hearts as the former Swansea City playmaker holds options elsewhere in the Premiership. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder joined the capital club on a free transfer last year from Ross County and has made 33 appearances overall, however, he has started just 13 times with two goals and an assist. Dhanda appeared off the bench against Stirling Albion in the Premier Sports Cup group stage, but has now fallen down the Tynecastle pecking order. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad New head coach Derek McInnes is not set to play with a number 10 and that will limit Dhanda's minutes at Hearts. He is wanted by fellow Premiership side Dundee - managed by former Hearts captain Steven Pressley - and a loan deal is believed to be progressing. Yan Dhanda Hearts transfer exit latest While there have been other options in Scotland for the ex Liverpool and Swansea City man to consider, talks with Dundee are thought to be advanced and a deal could be done in the days ahead. McInnes said of exits ahead of the weekend's clash with Dundee United: "There will be, I imagine, a couple of players who will move on for regular football. There are one or two enquiries about a couple of lads. There might be a bit more traction to that over the next week or so and I expect there to be.' Dhanda started his career as a youngster at Liverpool before moving on to Swansea City in 2018. He would make 63 appearances for the Welsh side who compete in the English Football League before turning his hand to Scottish football in 2022 with Ross County, shining with 12 goals and 18 assists, prompting then-Hearts head coach Steven Naismith to sign him on a pre contract. Neil Critchley would soon replace Naismith after a poor start to last season and Dhanda's minutes were reduced, despite working with a coach he knew well from the academy at Liverpool. Speaking in May after a bright cameo against Motherwell while Liam Fox was interim head coach, Dhanda said of time under the Englishman: 'It's been difficult to be honest. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad What Yan Dhanda said about Hearts spell under Neil Critchley 'I haven't played much, I've had to keep my head down and work hard, but that's football and I think I showed on Saturday what I'm capable of. Obviously it's difficult when you're not playing, but I think everyone just needs a run of games to show what they can do. So I have to just keep my head down, working hard and see what happens. 'I wasn't happy if I'm honest. Obviously I wasn't playing and everyone wants to play and it was difficult for me. I didn't really get a chance to show what I could do, but that's football I guess. Everyone wants to play, so I think it's natural to be disappointed, but that's in the past now. I just have to look forward and keep showing what I can do. I know I can do good things and contribute, so hopefully I get a run of games and show what I can do.'
