Texas A&M has reportedly contacted USC transfer guard
New Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan has already raised the fan base's expectations after landing eight players from the transfer portal, looking to make an immediate impact in the SEC during his first season at the helm. While the level of talent he's acquired over the past month is somewhat surprising, his dedication to building the roster isn't based on what we witnessed during his successful career with Samford.
Last week, McMillen added his seventh and eighth players from the portal, as Texas Tech forward Federiko Federiko and Alabama/Kansas guard Rylan Griffen, who are both slated to either start or play hefty minutes during the 2025 season. While McMillen can already field a roster that is talented enough to compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, he is still a couple of pieces away from matching the top teams in the conference.
What's been most impressive has been McMillan's willingness to reach out to every portal player imaginable despite A&M's lack of "elite" basketball stature, which includes USC transfer guard Desmond Claude, who has become the target of multiple blue blood programs this week.
During his 2024 junior season, Claude averaged 15.8 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, while he shot nearly 50% from the field, and 30% from 3-point range. Claude is an elite scorer, ranked as the 34th player in the transfer portal, and would be a guaranteed starter in McMillan's lineup, opposite former North Alabama guard Jacari Lane.
With Florida and North Carolina now out of the picture, Gonzaga, Duke, Ole Miss, Virginia, and Kentucky are reportedly in the mix, which is a tough task for McMillan and his staff, but similar to landing Rylan Griffen, don't count the Aggies out.

Former Iowa baseball starter named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week
It was a week to remember for former Iowa baseball star pitcher Ty Langenberg. Langenberg was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 11th round of the 2023 MLB Draft. He's slowly been working his way up through their minor league system, now playing for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, the Twins' High-A affiliate. It's a great location for Langenberg, who's not far from Iowa City and gets to pitch in front of plenty of Hawkeye fans. And his latest performance on the mound was nothing short of incredible. Langenberg went seven innings, allowed no earned runs, and struck out seven batters last Wednesday against the Quad City River Bandits. That pitching performance was enough to earn him Midwest League Pitcher of the Week honors. Overall, in this season with the Kernels, Langenberg has started 18 games, posting a 4-5 record with a 4.43 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP. He has 85 strikeouts to just 42 walks, a solid 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio. And with the Twins organization seemingly looking to go in a younger direction with their roster, Langenberg could see a promotion to Double-A before too much longer. This was a great performance from Langenberg and hopefully one he can build on going forward. Iowa fans will be rooting for the former Hawkeye to rocket through the system and hopefully pitch with the big league club at some point soon. Trio of Florida Gators named to 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list
The 2025 Comeback Player of the Year Award preseason watch list was released ahead of the start of the upcoming college football campaign and included a trio of Florida Gators. Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Eugene Wilson III, redshirt junior defensive lineman Jamari Lyons and redshirt sophomore defensive back Aaron Gates were among those named. All three have dealt with significant injury adversity and are looking to prove a point on the gridiron this fall. Wilson suffered a season-ending hip injury in his second year following a phenomenal freshman campaign that showcased his electric qualities on offense. Last year, he played in the team's first four games hauling in 19 receptions for 266 yards and a touchdown — that score coming on an 85-yard jet toss from DJ Lagway against Samford — before being sidelined. Lyons suffered a season-ending injury prior to the opening kickoff of 2024 after recording 20 tackles (10 solo) and 2.5 tackles for loss in 2023, which had set him up for high expectations. His broken ankle required two surgeries and multiple rehab stints, but he appears prepared for his return in 2025. Gates suffered a torn ACL in the Ole Miss late last November, taking him out of action for the team's final two games — against the Florida State Seminoles to close out the regular season and Tulane Green Wave at the Gasparilla Bowl. Still, he was an important contributor at the STAR position, finishing fifth on the team in tackles-for-loss with a 4.0 and logged a total of 27 tackles (14 solo), along with an interception, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a quarterback hurry. About the Comeback Player of the Year Award Since 2018, the Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list has been comprised of 75 student-athletes who overcame an injury, illness or other circumstance in the previous year. Each player returned to full health for the 2025 season and showcased their skills, helping their teams compete to their highest potential. The Comeback Player of the Year Award honors three of the athletes who were named to the watch list as winners of the award. The three winners are chosen by a panel of Associated Press college football writers and sports information directors. Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman named to freshman All-American team by On3
The Oklahoma Sooners' offensive line has been one of the more talked-about positions this offseason after a 2024 season that dealt with injuries and inconsistencies up front. There's a lot more stability in Bill Bedenbaugh's unit as it returns four players who started games for Oklahoma last year and a number of talented transfers and blue-chip prospects. On a unit that is looking to remind everyone what Oklahoma football looks like, one player has stood out since his arrival as part of the 2025 recruiting class: former five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. Fasusi was named to On3's preseason freshman All-American team ahead of the 2025 season. Fasusi was one of the more sought-after players in the cycle. Fasusi has received a lot of praise since joining the Sooners and could be in line for some significant snaps in 2025. As offensive tackles Jacob Sexton and Derek Simmons have been dealing with concussion symptoms during fall camp, Fasusi has received a ton of first-team snaps up front. He may not start the season running with the first-team offensive line when Sexton is back at left tackle, but as happy as offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has been with Fasusi's progress in his first year in the program, it wouldn't be surprising to see the five-star freshman taking a starting role at some point this year.
