Teen kanwariya electrocuted in Buxar
Aman, a resident of Navanagar, was on a pilgrimage to Baba Brahmeshwar Nath Dham at Brahmapur in Buxar district.
After collecting 'Gangajal' from Ramrekha Ghat, Buxar, he was on way to Brahmapur on foot, along with other kanwarias — as vehicle movement was restricted in the city due to administrative orders.
According to sources, Aman stopped to wash his feet at a hand pump in Koirpurwa locality, when he slipped and came in contact with an electric pole, before getting electrocuted.
Other kanwarias present at the scene raised an alarm, and police were informed. Police arrived at the scene, along with officials from electricity department who disconnected the power supply. The police took custody of the body and sent it for postmortem examination.
In a separate incident on the same day, a 21-year-old youth, identified as Bittu Sharma, drowned in floodwaters at Jawahi Diyar village under Chakki police station.

Prayagraj: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police gunned down a listed gangster from Jharkhand in Gadwa village of Prayagraj early Thursday, police said. Ashish Ranjan Singh alias Chhotu (28) carried a cash reward of Rs 4.5 lakh on his head and was wanted in 20 criminal cases, including at least four high-profile murders. Cops recovered one AK-47 (7.62 mm) along with one magazine, seven live and 10 used cartridges of 7.62 mm, one country-made pistol of 9 mm along with a magazine and live cartridges and one bike without a registration number on the spot. A senior cop told TOI: "A team of STF (Prayagraj unit), acting on a tip-off that Ashish along with his aide was en route to Sangam City to possibly execute a major crime, laid a trap near Shivrajpur. When the STF team intercepted two men on a bike and signalled them to stop, Ashish opened fire with an AK-47 rifle and a 9mm pistol at the police team." The official added that three STF men, including inspector JP Rai, and head constables Prabhanjan Pandey, Ajay Singh and Rohit, narrowly escaped bullets. "In self-defence, the STF retaliated, injuring Ashish. However, his aide managed to escape. Inspired By Premanand Govind Sharan, Boy, 13, Flees Home To Become Seer
Gorakhpur: Inspired by Vrindavan-based spiritual guru Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj, a 13-year-old boy from Gorakhpur ran away from home to become a seer. The boy, identified as Aman Dubey, son of Amarnath Dubey, was eventually found near a ghat in Varanasi after a police-led search using CCTV footage and surveillance. "I want to become like Sant Premanand Maharaj. That's why I left home. I first came to Varanasi and planned to stay at a temple here for a few days before heading to Mathura to be in his refuge," Aman told the police after being rescued. A resident of Bimutia village under the Barhalganj police station limits, Aman left for school on August 1 as usual but didn't return home. When he didn't come back even by 8 pm, his worried family members launched a search and eventually filed a missing report the next day. Police began scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas, including bus stops and railway stations. In one of the recordings, Aman was seen boarding a train from Dohrighat towards Varanasi. His photo was shared with GRP and local police in Varanasi, who finally traced him near a ghat, police said. The GRP handed him over to the local child welfare body, Childline. His parents, accompanied by Gorakhpur police, left for Varanasi on Monday to bring him back, police said. According to Aman's father, he was highly influenced by spiritual discourses and regularly watched videos of Sant Premanand on social media. "He never shared anything with us, but he was deeply motivated by the teachings," said Amarnath Dubey, a furniture businessman.
