Grammy-nominated R&B artist Jaheim is facing multiple animal cruelty charges, according to jail records and court documents.
The "Just in Case" singer, whose full name is Jaheim Hoagland, was charged with six counts of animal cruelty in connection with a May 1 arrest, Fulton County Jail records show.
The 47-year-old singer's arrest comes after he was reported various times for the unsanitary conditions he allegedly kept his dogs, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by USA TODAY. He has a 2021 third-degree animal cruelty case in New Jersey, in which he is alleged to have kept 15 dogs in his home with "deplorable conditions," the court document says.
Hoagland was taken to Fulton County Jail for his current charges, but he was released on May 2 after posting a $35,000 bond. As of May 29, it is unclear if Hoagland has a defense attorney.
How did Jaheim become a suspect of animal cruelty?
One incident mentioned in the affidavit occurred on April 27 and involved Fulton County Animal Control officers receiving a call about a malnourished dog roaming through a parking lot in Buckhead. The officers left when Hoagland allegedly approached them in an "aggressive manner" and said they're not "taking the dog," as he was just "outside doing work on the RV."
The following day, the officers returned and encountered Hoagland, who was recording them and saying that they "were on private property and this was harassment," according to the affidavit. When the officers explained to the singer that they had received a call about his dog, Hoagland became "irate," refused to identify himself and obstructed the officers' view of the canine.
Once officers identified Hoagland, they asked him about the dog, to which the singer explained that his canine's current body state was because he was only 11 months old, but he said he feeds him regularly, according to the affidavit. When Hoagland took the dog out of its kennel, the officers noticed it was "severely emaciated and his rib cage was protruding through the skin," the court document continued.
The officers gave Hoagland a written warning, but said they would return to obtain veterinarian records and reassess the dog. After leaving the area, the officers discovered that the phone number given to them was the number of a relative and not Hoagland's, the affidavit says.
Puppies found in Jaheim's RV taken to shelter after police search
Fulton County police found Hoagland and his RV in a separate Buckhead parking lot on May 1, and after conducting a search warrant of the vehicle, they took him into custody, the affidavit reads.
During the search of the RV, six dogs were located, including a 10-week-old pit bull puppy, two 10-week-old liver colored puppies, a 5-year-old pit bull, an 11-month-old brown hound and a French bulldog, according to the affidavit. All the dogs were removed from the RV and taken to the Fulton County Animal Control's shelter, the court document continued.

New Ye documentary 'In Whose Name' offers raw look at crumbling Kim Kardashian marriage

A new documentary is providing an intimate and unfiltered look into the life of the controversial Grammy-winning rapper Ye. The teaser trailer, released Aug. 13, shows Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, wrestling with the decision to go off medication for his bipolar disorder. In a series of quickly stitched together scenes, the rapper is seen arguing with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, delivering controversial remarks amid a failed campaign for president, and conceiving a church, which would later become his faith-based concert series "Sunday Service." The film, titled "In Whose Name?," will hit theaters Sept. 19. It was shot over six years by Director Nico Ballesteros, who compiled 3,000 hours of never-before-seen footage, which he began capturing at 18 years old, when Ye invited the aspiring filmmaker into his inner circle. 'In Whose Name' documentary trailer: Watch The film promises an unprecedented look at Ye's crumbling marriage to Kardashian, who can be heard at one point in the trailer saying through tears: "Your personality was not like this a few years ago." The pair divorced in 2021. "This film presents a raw and often unsettling portrait, without commentary or conclusion, leaving viewers to interpret the events for themselves," Simran A. Singh, a producer on the film, said in a release alongside the trailer. "Nico was living alongside Ye, camera in hand, not fully knowing what he was capturing or where it would lead, and that's exactly what makes the footage so powerful." Always an outspoken public figure, in recent years Ye has become more erratic and, at times, hateful, often spewing antisemitic theories online and claiming slavery was a choice. He has been hit with several lawsuits alleging antisemitism and sexual harassment in the workplace, and has been dropped from several major brand partnerships over his increasingly polarizing rhetoric. The latest lawsuit, filed originally in October and amended in July by a former personal assistant, alleges Ye subjected her to sex trafficking, assault, battery and false imprisonment. A representative for Ye claimed at the time that the suit was an extortion attempt. "They're killing our ability to think outside the box," Ye can be heard yelling in the teaser trailer, offering insight, perhaps, into the version of the rapper viewers will begin to see at the end of the film. "I'd rather be dead than to be on medication," he says. "The best thing about being an artist and bipolar, anything you do and say is an art piece."

Jazz star turns tarmac delay into viral in-flight concert ahead of Napa show

A flight delay turned into an impromptu concert this week when jazz saxophonist Dave Koz and his band, stranded aboard a plane, treated fellow passengers to a surprise performance. Koz, a Grammy-nominated artist set to perform in Napa as part of the Blue Note Summer Sessions at the Meritage Resort on Friday, August 15, was en route from St. Louis to Seattle with his Summer Horns 2025 tour when their flight was diverted to Boise, Idaho, due to mechanical issues. As they waited for repairs on the Boise tarmac, Koz and his bandmates Marcus Anderson, Jeff Bradshaw, Leo P, Evan Taylor and Marcel Anderson broke out their horns and launched into a spirited rendition of Stevie Wonder's 'Haven't Done Nothing.' The performance, captured on video by Anderson, quickly went viral. 'Delay after delay after delay… frustrations turned into fun,' Anderson wrote in the caption. 'We pulled out our horns and brought smiles bright as the sun! Summer Horns turned a flight into a front row concert — because when you feel it, you play it.' Within 24 hours, the clip had garnered over 2.5 million views across Instagram and Facebook. 'This is your captain speaking. This flight has been rerouted to Funkytown. The seatbelt sign is off and you are hereby required to get out your seat and dance!' one person wrote in the comments. Another noted, 'Love this!! And everyone is actually enjoying themselves. That's the power of music!' Koz's career spans more than three decades with regular stints at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Hollywood Bowl.
