A large number of students, working professionals, and common citizens shuttle between Nagpur, Pune, and Mumbai, and even from cities in other states like Hyderabad and Bangalore.
Due to high demand, many passengers have to book AC II and AC III, which are costlier.
The rebate, applicable to all classes, is likely to ease the burden on pockets during festivals, booking for which will start from August 14.
"In order to avoid rush, ensure hassle-free booking, as well as to facilitate passengers and redistribute the peak traffic for a larger range during peak festival seasons and ensure both side utilisation of trains, including special trains, it has been decided to formulate an experimental scheme named as Round Trip Package for festival rush on discounted fare," the railways stated in a press release.
Under the scheme, rebates will be applicable when tickets are booked for both onward and return journeys for the same set of passengers.
The bookings will start from August 14 for the advanced reservation period (ARP) date of October 13.

Traders face losses after basement market floods in Greater Noida West society
Noida: Traders in the basement market of a Greater Noida West society suffered heavy losses due to waterlogging and water entering the shops after morning showers on Tuesday. This was the third such instance in the past 10 days. Dinesh Sharma, who owns a grocery shop in the Panchsheel Hynish society market, told TOI that the water receded by Wednesday morning, but all shop owners in the market lost goods worth lakhs of rupees. All perishable items like bread, milk, eggs, biscuits, etc., had to be thrown away. Even pulses, grains, and flour had to be disposed of as they decomposed in the 2 to 3-foot waterlogged shops. Sanjeev Sharma, who works in one of three general stores owned by one owner, assessed the loss to be about Rs 15 lakhs. Traders maintained that while four pumps were deployed by the society maintenance to pump out water from morning till 7 pm, they were not enough as the pumps were of low 1 hp capacity each. While the market resumed its daily activity on Wednesday, traders remain worried lest another spell of showers lead to further damage. However, AOA secretary of the society, Vijay Rastogi, told TOI that all necessary actions have been taken to ensure no further flooding. "There is a drain that runs parallel to the service lane of the society. It is at a mere 20m distance from the market. It flooded and overflowed, drowning the service lane and the market area during the recent showers. Though we deployed pumps, the process took time as the water had to be released through the overflowing drain," he said.
