Former Dorset Police officer admits unlawful access to data
A former police officer has admitted accessing the personal data of members of the public "purely for their own knowledge". A Dorset Police misconduct panel found the officer used a records management system between January 2023 and June 2024 without having a "legitimate or lawful reason to do so".They were found guilty of gross misconduct on Tuesday and will be placed on the police barred list.The force decided not to name the officer, who has now retired, as part of the proceedings.
In August 2024 the officer admitted being guilty of an offence under section 170 of the Data Protection Act 2018 and received a conditional caution. During the hearing, they said after accessing some of the records they had contacted the person who was the subject of the data.The force said there was no evidence that any investigation was compromised as a result, or that the former officer had disclosed the information to anybody else.Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Farrell said the former officer's actions "constituted repeated unlawful behaviour"."They directly contravened the training they had received in this respect," she said."I hope that the outcome of the hearing shows the importance we place on integrity. "This former officer's conduct fell well below the expected standards of anyone working in our organisation, discrediting not just Dorset Police but policing as a whole."During the hearing, it was noted that the former officer admitted the offences at the first opportunity and had shown remorse and regret.

I was injured. Thanks to incredible neighbours who heard and saw what happened and acted, I got help. They called police, brought me to safety and ensured the incident was taken seriously. A gentleman does not abuse you and end up in jail and call you the love of his life. A gentleman does not blame you for his actions. A gentleman will confide in his partner, family and close circle of friends, keeping them close and safe. A gentleman chooses you always and leaves the past in the past - including exes. Life is to be lived together and not to please people who want to take advantage of you. At the end of the day, fame can only do so much - it's all about being strong and growing together. Life is simply not a reality TV show, life is real. I have tried to understand why. I have cried so many tears thinking about the way he chose to hurt me. He said he loved me and I believed him and here we are. There is now a legal record of what happened. Violence has no excuse - no matter how much love preceded it. To those who questioned me for staying as long as I did: I stayed because I believed in love. I believed he and we could grow, could heal, could choose peace. But love doesn't survive in chaos. And it cannot survive where violence lives. To every woman reading this: if you've ever questioned your worth, your safety or your sanity in a relationship - this is your sign. You deserved to be loved with care and integrity. And you are not alone. To the men: real strength is protection. Real love is safe. Be the kind of man who lifts women up - not one who breaks them down, neither by violence or silence. To the future: never say never. The bromance between the US President and the erratic tech billionaire spectacularly imploded this week - with both sides making wild and unsubstantiated claims about each other on social media Elon Musk has deleted a post from his social media which made a wild and unsubstantiated allegation about Donald Trump. The post to his account on X, formerly Twitter, which Musk owns, claimed Trump's name was included in FBI files about dead paedophile Jefrey Epstein - something Trump has since denied on his own social media platform, Truth Social. Musk had written: "Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!" In a follow-up post, Musk said: "Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out." Earlier today, both posts were removed from the platform. Responding to the allegation, Mr Trump reposted a message from lawyer David Schoen, who wrote: "I was hired to lead Jeffrey Epstein's defence as his criminal lawyer 9 days before he died. He sought my advice for months before that. "I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that he had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!" While Musk did delete that allegation, there's no indication of a cooling of the furious row between the two MAGA figureheads. Musk's X account still contains posts from recent days attacking Trump's budget bill as an "abomination", suggesting Trump's tariffs would drive the United States into recession later this year, and calling for President Trump to be impeached and replaced with Vice President JD Vance.
