Brazilian child actress Millena Brandão died May 2 after suffering 13 heart attacks, multiple outlets report. She was 11.
Brandão had severe headaches, pain in her leg, drowsiness, loss of appetite and was constantly fainting when she was rushed to Granjau General Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on April 30, per the Daily Mail.
According to the outlet, the pre-teen's doctor said she had multiple cardiac arrests between the day she arrived at the hospital and May 1.
She was pronounced dead one day later. Her official cause of death has yet to be determined.
The child's mother, Thays Brandão, told Brazilian news G1 on Monday that she still doesn't know what led to her daughter's death.
'The doctors still haven't said what really happened to my daughter and what killed her. It's a question mark,' she explained, noting that her daughter had 'two to three' cardiac arrests per day.
'She had 13 arrests in total. She had never had that before. There was one day when she had seven respiratory arrests. Sometimes they gave her massages and other times they gave her shocks [with a device called a defibrillator].'
The outlet reported that doctors initially thought Millena – who made her acting debut in October 2023 on SBT [Brazilian Television System] and had appeared in A infância de Romeu e Julieta, A Caverna Encantada and the Netflix production Sintonia – was suffering from dengue fever. However, that was later ruled out.
After tests, the doctors then identified that the young girl had a urinary tract infection. The health professionals also believe she had a suspected brain tumour, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Thays told G1 that as Millena did not wake up and her condition did not improve, she and her husband made the difficult but necessary decision given their daughter's irreversible condition.
'I said that if we were to let her little heart stop beating on its own, we would suffer more, and so would she. And we asked for the machines to be turned off,' she shared.
The Brazilian municipal and state health departments are reportedly investigating whether there was any irregularity in Millena's care.
Over the weekend, Thays penned an open letter to her late daughter on Instagram.
'The memories we spent together will remain in my memory and I will never forget your joy that spreads to everyone around you,' she captioned an image of Millena with angel wings and a gold halo.
'My girl, I miss you not having you here and I know I will miss you even more in the days to come! … And I will love you forever, and you will always be in my heart.'
She had garnered nearly 200,000 followers on Instagram.

Bethenny Frankel: I look like a train wreck most of the time

Bethenny Frankel looks like "a train wreck most of the time". The 54-year-old reality TV star recently wore a thong bikini bottom at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Swim Week runway show in Miami, and Bethenny believes there's an unhealthy fascination with her appearance. In a video posted on Instagram, Bethenny explained: "I guess we have to discuss what I looked like on that runway because the internet is so fascinated with my age, my weight, my face, my hair. "Listen, I can tell you with great certainty that every woman that was with me on that stage did not look that way two hours prior." Bethenny insists she's "never been vain" and admitted that she looks very different at home. She said: "I look like a train wreck most of the time. That's me. That's what I want." Bethenny also rubbished suggestions that she's recently undergone cosmetic surgery. The reality TV star explained: "My body is natural. "I don't do weights. And the reason my body is natural is because the exercise I do and have always done for my body is natural. I'll go months without exercise and definitely days without doing anything but I always come back to it." Bethenny also urged her Instagram followers to develop a "good relationship with food and exercise". She said: "I want you to allow yourselves to have, but not beat yourselves up when you do indulge. And I want you to have a good relationship with food and exercise and that doesn't mean being screamed at in a gym or beating yourself up and telling yourself that you have to kill yourself. You don't. It's healthier to just be healthy." Bethenny previously claimed that honesty and authenticity have been the keys to her success. Speaking to ADWEEK, she explained: "Be honest, be authentic - this is what I'm doing." Bethenny considers herself to be an "accidental influencer" - but the reality star also insisted there's real skill to her success. Bethenny said: "I see a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners that can't help but want to promote themselves. But not everybody can do it, and you have to really know if you can. It has to land."

Son's intuition reveals Australian Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright's pregnancy

Australian Winter Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright has announced she is pregnant with her third child. The 38-year-old former snowboarder has two sons with husband Angus Thomson — and she says it was their eldest who first revealed the latest addition. Bright said they are 'so excited' to become a family of five. 'The boys are hyped and so sweet with their baby growing in my belly!' she wrote. On Wednesday, Bright said they are not learning the gender until the baby arrives. 'But I'm feeling a third boy,' she said. The dual Olympic halfpipe medallist also shared that son Flow 'knew I was pregnant before I actually was'. 'A whole month before I conceived, he was telling people I had a baby in my belly,' Bright wrote. 'Maybe he already knows who this little soul is.' Bright said younger son Halo has also connected with the baby. 'Every night, Halo falls asleep holding my belly — and every morning, he wakes up and kisses it,' she said. 'Our hearts are expanding, and so is our family. So deeply grateful for this growing love. #PregnancyMagic #IntuitiveKids.' Bright made headlines in 2021 when she uploaded a photo of her breastfeeding baby Flow while performing a handstand to celebrate her first Mother's Day. 'Becoming a mother has unleashed something inside of me,' she wrote in the caption. 'It's deeply spiritual. It's primal. It's raw. it's fierce. It is pure.' The post immediately went viral, prompting Bright to address the negative reaction in a video. She said it was 'just a little bit of pure fun' and 'celebrating the bond between mother and child'. She also said she could 'understand how it's not everyone's taste' but lamented the judgement. 'Mothers, we need to encourage each other,' she said in the Instagram video. 'We need to lift each other up. We need to pay each other compliments. 'We need to support each other. We need to be each other's biggest cheerleaders because motherhood is so beautiful, but the reality is we are the only ones who know just how hard those hard moments are. 'And we need to have each other's back. Not compare each other and judge each other, because we all do think so differently. That's why it's so beautiful.' She finished the video by asking: 'But did anyone really think that's how I breastfed?'

Hilary Duff is 'proud' of how she and her husband cope with days that 'seem impossible' to deal with

Hilary Duff is "proud" of how she and her husband cope with days that "seem impossible" to deal with. The 37-year-old actress is married to musician Matthew Koma - with whom she has Banks, six, Mae, four, and 12-month-old Townes - and took to social media to celebrate his 38th birthday on Monday (02.06.25), where she insisted that she has a "more balanced" life now because of him. She wrote on Instagram: "My sweet insta poet - I can't compete with your compilation of words but I can share that every one of my days are comfier, funnier, sturdier, and more balanced with you in them. We have celebrated a lot of June 2nds together and since slide nine we've tripled in size. "I'm so proud of us - making it through some of these days seems impossible but you are always there to cook or pack a meal, keep us caffeinated, carry all the bags, let me add one more stop/plan to our day, have a last minute party, or add a new animal into our already pulling at the seams life. " The former 'Lizzie McGuire' star - who was initially married to Mike Comrie and has 13-year-old Luca with him - feels "lucky" to have had her children with Matthew, but joked that she just "hopes" that they have inherited some sort of "filter" from her. She added: "This wild house loves you. You have the most curvy/interesting mind. Truly enthralled and entertained to hear takes from it everyday. I'm lucky our kids are half you and dear god hope they get some filter from me. I hope all your dreams come true this year and and I hope we get a few more Ojai sleeps than the last. Happy 38 Daddy!"
