In a tweet, NYC Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that the gunman was neutralised. 'I have been on scene at the shooting in Midtown, and we can report the shooter is neutralized. The NYPD are now searching 345 Park Avenue carefully. If you are in the building, please stay where you are,' the mayor continued. He added that the injured were taken to the hospital.
According to a report by ABC Eyewitness News, three people died at the attack, including a New York City police officer. Sources added that the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The gunman is identified as Shane Tamura, reportedly a native of Las Vegas and a former Canadian football player. As per authorities, he was seen carrying an AR-15. Reportedly, Tamura holds a concealed carry permit from Nevada.

Ahmedabad: A Mehsana man was arrested at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) airport on Tuesday after he was deported from Dubai for allegedly trying to travel to Canada on a forged visa. An FIR has been registered with Airport Police against the 22-year-old and two other accused who allegedly provided him the fake visa. According to the FIR, the passenger, a resident of Ambaliyasan in Mehsana district, landed at the Ahmedabad airport from Dubai after the airline alerted airport authorities of the passenger travelling on a possibly forged Canadian visa. The FIR states that the forgery was carried out with the intent to commit fraud. A case has been registered against the passenger under sections 336(2), 336(3), 338, entailing various counts of forgery, 340(2) (fradulent use of a forged document), and 54 (abetment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 12(1)(b) (providing false information to obtain a travel document) of the Passport Act, 1967.

Two found dead in Bishnupur & Imphal West dists
Imphal: Two persons, including a minor, were found dead in separate incidents in the state on Aug 6. In Bishnupur district, a 15-year-old boy was found hanging at his home in Moirang Khoiru Makha Leikai, while a Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) employee was discovered in a similar state at his official quarters within the RIMS complex in Imphal West district. The minor, a Class VIII student, had been living alone for four days. His father works as an auto-rickshaw driver in Imphal, and his mother is a farmer in Nambol. Moirang Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy's death. His body has been sent to RIMS for autopsy. In the second incident, Sagolsem Sanatomba, 53, an attendant at RIMS's psychiatry department, was found hanging in his Type-2 Quarter B-15. Lamphel Police, with forensic experts, conducted a thorough investigation before transferring his body to the RIMS morgue. A case has been filed at Lamphel Police Station. Authorities are actively investigating both cases.

Maoist leader with ₹15 lakh bounty killed in Jharkhand's Gumla
An area commander of the banned Maoist splinter group, People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), carrying a bounty of ₹15 lakh on his head, was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand's Gumla district, police said on Wednesday. A weapon was also recovered from his possession," Gumla superintendent of police (SP) Haris Bin Zaman told PTI. The Gumla SP said he had received a tip-off about the presence of some Maoists in the area, and accordingly, a special team was set up to carry out the operation. The search operation is still going on, the SP added.
