KZN premier to visit Umlazi crime scene that left eight dead
Eight people were shot and killed in the U Section, Umlazi, Durban, in a brutal attack that has left the community in shock. KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli and Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi are set to visit the crime scene following the tragic incident.
The deadly shooting occurred on Friday evening, May 16, at the Zama informal settlement. KwaZulu-Natal police confirmed in a statement that a group of armed suspects stormed a dwelling in the settlement and opened fire on those inside.
The victims, six men and two women, aged between 22 and 40, were all declared dead at the scene, found lying in pools of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the victims were gathered inside a residence when the unknown suspects entered and began shooting indiscriminately. No arrests have been made yet, and police have launched an urgent manhunt for those responsible.
'The motive for the killings is not yet known and remains the subject of an intensive investigation,' said police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda.
'We are exploring all possibilities and appealing to anyone with information that could assist in the apprehension of the suspects to come forward.'
According to SABC News, Premier Ntuli is expected to meet with community members and local law enforcement during his visit to assess the situation and show support to the affected families. The provincial government condemned the violence and pledged resources to aid the investigation.

Mkhwanazi slams doorless car cop [video]
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has ordered that disciplinary steps be taken against a police officer who was captured on a viral video driving a doorless marked police car.
