Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the long-awaited remake that's easily among my most anticipated upcoming PS5 games, showed up during tonight's State of Play, and there was an interesting tease of something right at the end of the trailer.
For a while, the latest Metal Gear Solid 3 trailer was pretty normal - at least by Metal Gear standards. There were stealthy shenanigans, some interesting cutscenes, and a healthy dose of action. After that, there was a whole section dedicated to the iconic Ape Escape crossover, which continues to look as peculiar as ever.
The trailer appears to draw to and end, but then we get a tease of something else. we get to watch a character merge out of the background, having hidden from our view by use of an impressive ghillie suit. As they drop to the ground, however, their entire appearance changes - instead of leaves and branches, they now appear to be nothing more than a cluster of rocks upon the ground.
That's bad news for the unfortunate goon who comes through right at the close of the trailer, entirely bamboozled by the camouflage. It's a little confusing - honestly, it's not clear whether this is an excellent active camo setup, or if it's a hint at some kind of online multiplayer mode.
Long-time Metal Gear Online player (and my colleague) Iain suggests that the small frog figure that gets collected in that clip is a Kerotan - the figurine you were tasked with collecting back then. And active camo also made an appearance in Metal Gear Online, suggesting that really could be the tease.
Either way, Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is set to launch towards the end of August, so I imagine we'll learn a little more relatively soon.
The Summer Game Fest schedule 2025 has kicked off - albeit a little earlier than we thought it might.

Peacemaker season 2 debuts to 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics calling it a "standout in superhero television" and "blood-spattering, bone-crunching fun"

You might recall that the first season of Peacemaker hit HBO Max prior to James Gunn and Peter Safran's takeover of the DCU. Instead of including it in the overhaul, Peacemaker season 1 was made canon to the new DCU, but this didn't stop fans from feeling a bit worried about how much the show would actually change. Well, Peacemaker season 2 has a 100% Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, with several critics saying that season 2 absolutely improves on the first, with many praising Gunn's handling of the new DCU multiverse. "It would have been easy for Gunn to get caught up in the world-building of a new season of live action storytelling in his fresh DC universe to start spinning more ideas out, but this is still the Peacemaker fans fell in love with back in 2022," Paste Magazine wrote. "The gags and gore remain plentiful, but they're not the dominant takeaways this time. Gunn even finds emotional resonance in the multiverse concept -- something Marvel, for all its efforts in that dimension, has so far failed to locate," praised TheWrap. wrote that the show "remains a standout in superhero television [...] this series doesn't stray away from its humble beginnings." "Gunn's Superman was fantastic, and he did an excellent job of understanding the core of the Man of Steel," Collider said. "But Peacemaker Season 2 shows that he truly has a gift for creating superhero stories centering around broken characters. Our own review calls it "darker and sadder" than season 1, but still maintains that it's off to a "solid start" (based on the first five episodes). Peacemaker season 2 is trending now on HBO Max. I Have to Know the Nail Budget for Cardi B's New Music Video Immediately

The rapper just released the music video for her newest single, "Imaginary Playerz," on Aug. 15, and I'm fully in awe of just how many stunning nail looks she was able to fit into three-and-a-half minutes. The video itself features exactly what I've come to expect from Cardi B these days, which is a ton of stunning imagery of her sailing on a yacht, flying on a private jet, and in general, just living a life of luxury. While it's pretty obvious that everything about the visual was expensive, I'm more focused on what the glam budget was. The morning after the video dropped, Cardi's longtime nail tech, Coca Michelle, took to her Instagram Story to share a handful of behind-the-scenes videos and close-up photos of several of the manicures that the rapper wore in the video. One of the looks featured short, square-shaped nails that were painted with a black base and had emerald-cut gems glued to the top. In another slide, Michelle shared a collage of two other nail looks. One was a medium-length almond manicure with a black base and white polka dots that were accented with what appears to be the Chanel logo. Another featured a photo of long, black stiletto nails with two curved white lines drawn across the middle of each nail. Judging by the photo, it's safe to assume that most of the looks were pre-painted by Michelle onto a set of tips before being applied when it was time to shoot. But, of course, that's not where things stop. In another slide, Cardi is seen wearing a long, oval look that features teal nail polish with "melted gold" borders. The melted gold looks like it was achieved with 3D gel that was applied to the borders of the nails before they were either painted with a metallic gold polish or dipped in gold chrome powder. Either way, it looks both stunning and expensive. Michelle shared a handful of other behind-the-scenes pics from the video, and to my surprise, some of the looks shown were outfits and glam that Cardi happened to also be wearing during her many appearances at Paris Couture Week last month. Let's face it, Cardi B's nail looks will always be one-of-a-kind, but if you want to achieve at least somewhat similar that you can wear at home, shop a few must-haves ahead.
