Pollok Football Club sadly announced the death of Archie McDougall, one of their committee members.
In a touching tribute, the Southside club said the 82-year-old's early football supporting days were spent at Firhill and Ibrox, where he got a boost over the walls to watch games for free.
(Image: Newsquest) When living in the Langside area of the city, Archie became acquainted with former Pollok FC President Gordon Ritchie, who encouraged him to head along to Newlandsfield, Pollok's home ground, over 50 years ago.
The invite to Pollok's stadium then sparked Archie's 'love-affair' with the local club.

In a Facebook post, the Southside club said: "Pollok FC are sad to announce the passing of committee member Archie McDougall at the age of 82.
"The thoughts of everyone at Pollok FC are with Archie's family and friends at this difficult time."
Paul Regan, Pollok FC's Club President, said: "Archie was the friendly face that welcomed players, officials, referees and supporters to Newlandsfield for a number of years.
"Whether with a joke, a story, or a card trick, he was always great company, and it was fitting that he was able to attend our final league game, where we as a club were able to show our appreciation to him before his passing.
"Coming so soon after the passing of his dear friend Fergie, this loss represents the passing of another true Pollok man, who embodied so much of what is good about this club.
"His determination to keep coming to games right to the end was inspiring, and he was a genuine joy to spend time with.
"He will be very sorely missed."

Rod Stewart shares eye-watering Glastonbury cost he will need to pay out of his own pocket

The Maggie May rocker, 80, is set to perform at the Legends slot act in Glastonbury 2025, joining a star-studded line-up of other acts. Sir Rod Stewart has revealed how much he will pocket following his highly-anticipated slot at Glastonbury festival later this year. However, despite bosses dishing out a substantial sum he's left with a sore bill. He has been touring across the US, meaning it's going to cost a hefty sum to transport his crew, staging and equipment back for the festival, set to take place at the end of this month. ‌ The rock legend, 80, will return to one of the biggest musical festivals in Somerset for the first time in over two decades. Rod last performed on the Pyramid stage 23 years ago. ‌ Maggie May rocker Rod will be joined by a stellar line-up of acts as he performs as this year's Legends slot. He has opened up on his Glastonbury comeback in a new interview. Rod claimed he would receive £120,000 from festival bosses but it will set him back £300,000 to take to the stage early in the evening on Sunday, June 29. Speaking to the Radio Times, Sir Rod said: "It was about eight months ago when I was asked to do it, maybe a little longer. But it didn't fit with my schedule because I've got to bring everybody back from America. "It's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid. So it's going to cost me." However the hefty cost didn't appear to phase the Celtic-daft rocker, who was adamant it "doesn't matter" if he ends up out of pocket for the prized slot. ‌ It comes as he revealed that he will only play for one hour and 15 minutes. Rod claims he "begged" festival bosses for an extra 15 minutes as he usually performs for two hours, however his request was denied. Other Glastonbury headliners for the highly-anticipated 2025 show include The 1975, Neil Young, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Doechii, The Prodigy and Alanis Morissette. ‌ Sir Rod was recently forced to cancel six more shows from his US tour after coming down with the flu. Announcing the news on Instagram last week, the hitmaker said that he would be cancelling four US tour dates and rescheduling two others. He wrote: "So sorry my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon," alongside a heartbroken emoji. The multiple cancellations come after he was put on vocal rest between performances last month. Sir Rod has said he is planning to stop large-scale world tours at the end of this year.

St Mirren have confirmed Park has replaced Martin Foyle as their new head of recruitment and emerging talent after Foyle left the club to join Carlisle United. St Mirren chief operating officer Keith Lasley said: "We are sorry to see Martin moving on and wish him the best of luck in his new challenge. "His contributions have been key in the club's progression over the past few seasons and we thank him for all his efforts. "We have, however, moved quickly to bring John to the club and we are excited to welcome him to St Mirren. Park stirred up controversy when he moved to Rangers in 2022 following his success at their rivals across the city. He worked under the supervision of Ross Wilson at Ibrox and departed the club in December 2023, when Rangers wiped the slate clean of Michael Beale and his coaching staff. Nils Koppen took up the position when Philippe Clement replaced the Englishman in the dugout. On his latest move to Paisley, Park said: "I'm delighted to be joining St Mirren. "The club has a clear strategy in terms of its football operations and I believe my experience will help build upon that." FOUR to join Rangers before Champions League Plus Aarons impact on Tavernier REVEALED Manager Stephen Robinson added: "Martin has been an integral part of what we've done over the past three and a half years and he's been an integral part of what I've done as a manager over 10 years now. "He's a close friend of mine now and it's a sad loss for the club. "Another opportunity arose that was exciting for him and it's with regret that Martin is leaving. I'd like to put on record my thanks to him for his recruitment and for all he's done at the football club. "The club have appointed John and it's important that we get working together quickly, build a relationship, and I look forward to that."
