Love Island's Georgia Harrison 'blown away' over MBE honour for campaigning efforts
Georgia Harrison said she 're-read her MBE letter three times' after receiving it for services to tackling online privacy and cyber crime awareness after becoming a personal victim of revenge porn.
Love Island star Georgia Harrison has said she is 'completely blown away' after being made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to tackling online privacy and cyber crime awareness. The 30-year-old reality star has spent the past couple of years working hard to campaign on violence against women and girls after becoming a victim of revenge porn.
She told the PA news agency: 'Honestly, I'm completely blown away to be receiving an MBE – it's one of my proudest achievements and something I didn't expect to be coming through the letter box this summer. It means the world to have this kind of recognition, not just for me, but for all the survivors who've been through what I have.
'Speaking out after what happened wasn't easy, but I knew it was important. I didn't want anyone else to feel as alone or powerless as I did. I've tried to turn something painful into something positive, and this honour is a reminder that we can make change when we use our voices.
'Thank you to everyone who's supported me along the way, to all of the MPs that invited me in to speak with open arms and to all the charities that supported me and my fellow survivors.
'I'll never stop fighting for what's right and I'll always step up when and where I think I can make a positive difference for others.'
In 2021, the TV star waived her right to anonymity amid a trial that saw her ex-partner, Stephen Bear, accused of sharing a secretly recorded sex tape of her to adult content website OnlyFans.
Bear, also a reality TV star, served 10 and a half months of a 21-month sentence after being found guilty of voyeurism and of two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress.
In April 2023, the month after he was sentenced, Harrison attended a demonstration, held outside Parliament by domestic violence charity Refuge, calling for specific protections for women and girls to be included in the Online Safety Bill.
She also called for social media platforms to be 'held accountable' for online harassment and abuse, and criticised the justice system for failing to 'keep up'.
Later that year, she discussed the Bill in a Downing Street meeting with former technology secretary Michelle Donelan as it returned to the Commons for its final stages.
In recognition of her work advocating for online safety and the prevention of violence against women and girls she won the activist gong at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2023.
Reflecting on her campaigning, she told The Sun in October 2023 that she had had 'serious conversations with a couple of Labour MPs' about a bid to represent an Essex constituency.
In 2024, she helped Thames Valley Police launch a campaign about sexual consent titled Consent Conservations.
Harrison explored the prevalence of deepfakes and image-based sexual abuse in an ITV documentary titled Georgia Harrison: Porn, Power, Profit, which was released earlier in the year.
As well as Love Island, she has taken part in reality TV shows including Celebrity Ex On The Beach and Channel 4 reality show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, which she won with boxer Lani Daniels.
In April, she announced she was expecting her first child with her partner Jack Stacey.

Love Island villa erupts as Islander left 'raging' over 'disrespect'
The Love Island villa erupts tonight after the girls get to watch the boys unknowingly talk about them and date three new bombshells, with Helena stating she is 'raging about the disrespect' Love Island series 12 has already surprised islanders and viewers with twists and turns, including already dumping two islanders, but the villa is about to explode in a new teaser for the upcoming episode. After seeing three new bombshells enter the 'boys night out', the girls are fuming and it could be the last bump in the road for some couples. The boys left the villa earlier in the day for drinks, but what they didn't know was that the girls would be watching their every move on a giant TV back in the main villa. Shortly after they all established where they stood in their relationship, three new bombshells entered and caused a stir for the girls watching. The three bombshells include 24-year-old teaching assistant Malisha from Broxbourne, Commercial Banking Executive Yasmin, 24, and Insurance Development Executive Emily, 24, from Aberdeen. After the girls watched the other half of their couple flirt with the new bombshells, Helena was not best pleased and said: 'My man basically saying I'm a massive red flag because of something I've done in the past and I'm a big party girl…?' Alima responds: 'Double standards'. Helena continues and says, 'I'm raging about the disrespect.' But they don't have long to debrief about the boys as suddenly their one-on-one dates start playing on the big screen and they rush back to secretly listen in to more chats. Opening up to the new bombshell on what he is looking for, Harry said: 'The main thing is ambition; someone that wants a family, I'm 30 and ready for it, I've got my s*** together.' Discussing Shakira, Harry adds: 'Potentially there's unfinished business, I think she knows that as well, it's just not the right time. She has pride, she's only 22, but she's ahead of her years and has a lot of self-respect.' Yasmin eagerly asks Harry, 'Are you open to getting to know other people, or do you like what you've got with Helena? The islanders then get a sneak peek into Conor's date with bombshell Emily. Conor tells Emily: 'Whatever I do, I wanna be respectful, I'm definitely going to get to know you…' Unknowing to Conor, this comment goes down well with the girls watching, with the other half of his couple, Toni, labelling him 'My respectful king.' Later, the boys and bombshells return to the Villa and spot the huge screen and quickly realise what's been happening. The boys aren't happy, to say the least, about the girls being a fly on the wall during their chats, as Dejon says, 'boys chat stays in the boys chat!' But it is too late for that as Helena has some beef with Harry about what he said during the boys chat, and Meg tells Dejon exactly how she's feeling about watching his date, telling him: 'You failed the test.' Harry and Helena head to the terrace and she tells him: 'I dunno where we go from here…I don't know how we can move forward…' Meanwhile, Conor chats to Emily in the snug, as he tells her: 'The vibe I've got, we're on the same wavelength, everything you said - I want someone to look after me and listen to me - I feel like that's me'.
