Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners Sovereignty and Journalism are facing off in the 2025 Belmont Stakes this weekend. What time does the event start and where can you watch it live on free TV, cable and streaming?
Because Sovereignty sat out the Preakness Stakes last month, it precluded the potential for the horse to become the 14th Triple Crown winner in the event's history. Following the Kentucky Derby, Sovereignty's trainer Bill Mott told reporters that the first priority was the well-being of the horse.
"Of course, you always think about a Triple Crown, and that's not something we're not going to think about," Mott said (via ESPN).
As such, Journalism, which finished second in the Kentucky Derby, went on to win the 2025 Preakness Stakes, creating a showdown with Sovereignty when both horses take part in the Belmont Stakes among a field of eight horses.
The 157th running of the Belmont Stakes is set for Saturday at the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and post time is 7:04 p.m. ET/4:04 p.m. PT. The 2025 Belmont Stakes will be broadcast live on FOX on free TV and on cable on FS1. In addition, a livestream of the race will be available on the FOX Sports app.

Like the 2025 Kentucky Derby, rain could potentially be an issue, at least earlier in the day. According to CBS News, there's a 75% chance of rain on Saturday morning with a chance of thunderstorms and a high of 64 degrees. The chance of rain drops to 24% by post time, however, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 74.
The 2025 Belmont Stakes is set to begin at 7:04 a.m. ET/4:04 p.m. PT and will broadcast live on FOX and FS1, and will stream live on the FOX Sports app.

Texas players rushed the mound to embrace Kavan, who threw a masterful complete game, striking out three and allowing eight hits. The sophomore said being able to get the final out for the team 'meant the world.' 'I'm so happy for this team,' Kavan told the ESPN broadcast. 'We did it. First Natty. Let's go! My grandma, the last thing she told my brother – one of the last things was to bring home a victory and we did that for her.' Texas head coach Mike White said that it was 'surreal' to finally be lifting the trophy after coming to the school ahead of the 2019 season. 'I can't believe its happened. … For us to come out on top tonight – we're so close to being knocked out. I am speechless to tell you the truth. It doesn't happen very often. But I am so proud of our ladies.' Texas had lost to Oklahoma in the championship series two of the last three years. The Sooners, who were looking to win their fifth straight title, were defeated by the Longhorns earlier in the tournament. White added that 'in order to be the best, you got to beat the best' while calling Canady 'tough and special.'

Robert drives in 3 runs as the White Sox beat the Royals 7-2
Luis Robert Jr. drove in three runs in his return to the lineup, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 7-2 on Friday night. Mike Tauchman homered to help the last-place White Sox to their third win in four games. Davis Martin struck out seven while pitching six innings of two-run ball. White Sox catcher Kyle Teel, one of baseball's top prospects, went 1 for 2 with two walks and scored a run in his major league debut. Robert hit a tiebreaking two-run single in Chicago's five-run eighth inning. He also had a run-scoring single in the second. It was Robert's first game since Monday. The slumping slugger has been working on some adjustments at the plate, and he got an extra day after he was struck on his head by a ball in the batting cage. The White Sox beat the Royals for the second time in the last 20 matchups. Maikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino hit back-to-back homers for Kansas City with two out in the third inning. It was the seventh of the season for Garcia, and No. 9 for Pasquantino. Tauchman tied it at 2 when he connected against Seth Lugo in the fifth.
