In the latest superhero film 'Superman',
Rachel Brosnahan
has big shoes to fill. In the new film, she takes over carrying the legacy of the iconic Lois Lane. In an interview recently shared how the experience has been for her so far, and what her career holds for her in the future.
Believe it or not, she even talked about the possibility of starring in Indian films as well!
The new 'Lois Lane' opens up about her role in the film
Rachel Brosnahan can be seen on the screen as Lois, Superman's love interest, and recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, talked about what the character entailed for her. She shared that one of the biggest factors that made her accept the role was the sense of urgency it had.
'One of the reasons why these characters have endured everything in this story and I suppose all superhero or fantasy stories, is because they show us that it might be possible that there are aliens with superpowers who want to join humanity and other superheroes who can save us, but that there are everyday superheroes who walk among us.
As a journalist, Lois is one of those people', the star shared during the interview while talking about her decision to accept the role.
She even added that such roles have an odd way of bringing hope and peace to the people. She shared that 'These stories encourage all of us to find that courage, the strength to explore what it means to be human and how we can bring that shot in the arm of hope into our real world'.
She added a unique perspective on the importance of the 'human' characters on the screen, sharing that 'Lois and characters like Jimmy and the rest of the Daily Planet crew, and even Lex in some way, are the audience's way into the world too'.

Becoming the torchbearer for 'Lois Lane'
Brosnahan also talked about taking on the 'responsibility' of the iconic character. She shared that while it is a huge deal if a person starts overthinking about the responsibility they have over such an iconic character, there are chances that the pressure will start getting to them. 'We're taking the responsibility seriously, and it feels like theatre sometimes. These characters have been portrayed in animation, been drawn by so many brilliant artists, and have been played by other actors', the actress added.
'But we also feel a great responsibility to the fans who have loved these characters for generations. So, there is a responsibility, but at some point, all we can do is trust in our writer and director, do our homework, and show up and try to do our best', she finished her comment on the importance of Lois Lane's character and taking over the title.
Rachel talks about her Indian fans
During the interview, Rachel expressed her gratefulness towards her Indian fan base as well. She shared how she is even looking forward to getting her hands on the opportunity of starring in an Indian film herself! She shared during the interview, 'It would be such a great honour. We talked all the time working on The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel about Bollywood films. We drew inspiration from the colour and the movement. So, it would be a dream'.

James Gunn calls ‘Superman' an immigrant story: ‘Yes, it's about politics'

James Gunn is offering an inside look at what fuels his highly anticipated film Superman, set to premiere July 11. In an in-depth interview with The Times of London, the DC Studios head laid out the ideas and ideals underpinning his take on the Man of Steel, calling it nothing less than 'the story of America.' James Gunn explained that the new film is rooted in the immigrant narrative that has shaped the United States, drawing a parallel between Superman's alien origins and the millions who left their homes searching for something better. 'I mean, 'Superman' is the story of America,' Gunn said. 'An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.' While acknowledging that the film's message could spark controversy in a politically polarised climate, Gunn made it clear he's not interested in diluting its message about compassion. 'Yes, it plays differently, but it's about human kindness and obviously there will be jerks out there who are just not kind and will take it as offensive just because it is about kindness,' he said. 'But screw them.' Beyond the broad cultural themes, Gunn said Superman also grapples with the personal moral dilemmas that define its central characters. 'Yes, it's about politics. But on another level it's about morality,' Gunn noted. 'Do you never kill no matter what — which is what Superman believes — or do you have some balance, as Lois believes? It's really about their relationship and the way different opinions on basic moral beliefs can tear two people apart.' Superman features David Corenswet in the title role, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl. The film will debut in theaters on July 11, bringing Gunn's ambitious vision of heroism, hope, and the immigrant experience to a new generation of audiences.

'This is sick': Jewish advocacy group slams Zohran Mamdani for sharing video mocking Hanukkah

Zohran Mamdani has been accused of mocking Hannukah. Stop Antisemitism, the Jewish advocacy group, blasted Democratic New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani for sharing a video mocking Hanukkah. The video was shared last year but it went viral as Mamdani is dominating headlines after his surprise victory in the primary. Some false claims were made over the video saying Mamdani, who was a rapper before his plunge into politics, was featured in the video. But he was not in the video and shared it on Hanukkah. Mamdani had posted the video in December 2024, adding the caption, "Happy 3rd night of Hanukkah from Astoria and Long Island City." The video originates from the 2015 parody album "Punjabi Christmas Album Hits" from the Geeta Brothers, a side project of Sikh-Canadian musician and comedian Jus Reign. Mamdani posted another video from the same album on Christmas Eve, this one based on "Jingle Bells." "Wishing you all a very merry Christmas from Astoria and Long Island City," he wrote at the time. — StopAntisemites (@StopAntisemites) "Zohran Mamdani posts Indian men cosplaying Jews, spinning dreidels and lighting the menorah," Stop Antisemitism wrote in a statement on X. "Our holidays and traditions are sacred and not for your comedic pleasure, Zohran Mamdani – this is sick," the group added, tagging the mayoral candidate. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Mamdani has been accused of antisemitism during his campaign as well as he refused several times to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. During a primary debate, he said he believed Israel has a right to exist. "As a Jewish state?" he was asked. "As a state with equal rights," Mamdani said. "I'm not comfortable supporting any state that has a hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion or anything else," he explained later. StopAntisemitism founder Liora Rez said last week that electing Mamdani mayor would not only be "catastrophic" for Jewish residents, but all who reside in the city. "If Zohran Mamdani was elected as mayor, it would be hands down catastrophic for Jewish residents of New York City," Rez said. "And we would even take it a step further where citizens of New York City in general, due to his very troubling stances on socialism, would greatly suffer as well."
