Carver High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, to unveil a powerful new mural in the school's gymnasium. This was part of a week of activities before and during the Super Bowl.
The mural is a collaboration between G.W. Carver High School, Foundation for a Drug-Free World and Marshall Faulk, to stand as a lasting inspiration for students to stay focused, pursue excellence, and make positive choices for their future. It prominently features the school's ram mascot, a tribute to G.W. Carver High's enduring spirit, alongside its motto: 'Exceed any expectation.' At the heart of the mural is Marshall Faulk, immortalized as both a legendary athlete and a champion for drug-free living. It reinforces his message that success is built on smart choices, discipline and perseverance.
G.W. Carver High School, located in New Orleans' historic 9th Ward, is known for its vibrant culture, renowned marching band, and deep-rooted community pride. Named after scientist and educator George Washington Carver, the school has a long tradition of academic excellence and leadership development. Its vision is: to prepare all scholars for college success, inspired and ready to exceed any expectation. This principle is exemplified by Faulk's own journey from G.W. Carver High to NFL stardom.
Julian Reams (IG: @jubeanski) created the mural. This is the second mural Reams has painted for Foundation for a Drug-Free World, donating his talents to promote a drug-free lifestyle. He shared his thoughts on the project:
'The message and goal is to inspire youth to avoid the distraction and dangers of drugs while in school so that their potential is limitless. I enjoyed the process at G.W. Carver here in New Orleans because I was able to integrate the spirit of the people into the piece by being present during various school and community events put on daily in the gym. Hopefully when the students see it, they truly are inspired to be drug-free so they can exceed any expectation.'
For years, Marshall Faulk has advocated for drug prevention, working with Foundation for a Drug-Free World to bring factual, life-saving drug education to schools, youth programs and sports organizations. Having seen firsthand the devastating effects of substance abuse, he has made it his mission to empower young people with knowledge to help them make informed choices about their future.
'The one word that I always use is commitment,' Faulk told students gathered at G.W. Carver High for the mural unveiling. 'Commitment requires you to do things, not just when you want to, but when you don't want to. Your commitment is tested. What I am saying to you is the world is out there for you. You have to make the best of it. So dream big, don't allow the world to minimize your dreams.'

But I do know this — you can't tell me the kid who led the entire country in all-purpose yards at Kansas State can't play in the NFL. ... Especially not when his only reps came under a coaching staff that's no longer in the building — largely because of their own inability to build a creative, functional run game. During the Cowboys' post-draft press conference prior to Vaughn's second year, Mike McCarthy openly acknowledged that they overhauled the entire pass protection scheme for their running backs. And for someone like Deuce Vaughn — a rookie running back already undersized and fighting uphill in pass pro — that 'revamp' likely felt like a foreign language. Think about that. You're asking a rookie to learn a brand-new protection system, adjust to NFL speed, and compete for a role in a backfield that didn't yet know what it wanted to be. FRISCO — Almost all Dallas Cowboys have reported to The Star for organized team activities in recent weeks. Even Micah Parsons, still handling contract disputes with team leadership, has made some appearances around the facility in spots. Advertisement The lone man out of action? Star cornerback Trevon Diggs. The five-year pro has continued his rehab a surgically repaired left knee... in Miami. When head coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed reporters Tuesday, he made it clear that all parties appear to be on the same page here. He noted that he has spoken with Diggs who has checked in with team doctors. Make no mistake, the wish from the Cowboys side is for Diggs to perform his rehab with the team, as Stephen Jones details. "Our understanding is he's getting the work done and he'll be back in, and we'll get a good look at him next week [at the minicamp]." Advertisement This situation has a similar feel to last offseason when the Cowboys harbored some frustrations with Diggs' approach to his ACL rehab. However, Dallas' No. 1 corner has more to lose at this juncture. According to a stipulation in Diggs' contract, he is in danger of losing $500,000 by virtue of his continued absence from the Cowboys' offseason program. To avoid the fine, he must participate in 84.375% of the club's activities. (As noted by ESPN.) Diggs has missed the first two phases in the offseason program and has yet to take part in OTAs. Those are in fact voluntary, but the team's mandatory minicamp is set to begin a week from Tuesday on June 10 and run through June 12. Absence from those dates would also draw a separate fine. The Cowboys certainly want him back around the team headquarters though there is a strong possibility Diggs will start the season on the PUP list. Advertisement "[We] won't have a feel for when he's going to be able to get in the middle of everything until we get to training camp when we're with him day in and day out and see how he's progressing," Jones said. Diggs' limited availability over the last two seasons has been a thorn in the Cowboys' side especially after the extension they signed him to before the 2023 campaign. However these coming weeks unfold, the Cowboys' ultimate goal is to get Diggs back on the field and ready to compete at a high level again.
