The North Queensland Cowboys will debut a Northern Lights jersey that glows in the dark for their final home game of the season.
Unveiled as part of the club's 30th anniversary, it's the first jersey of its kind in major Australasian sport.
Created with Dynasty Sport, the design blends the team's identity with modern technology.
Fluorescent ink means the jersey glows under blue UV light, with retail versions also featuring glow-in-the-dark silicone badges.
The jersey will make its on-field debut in Round 26 against the Brisbane Broncos on August 30.
But disgruntled fans, still fuming after the club was officially ruled out of NRL finals in its loss to the Cronulla Sharks last weekend, aren't impressed.
'Really don't like this one. Why glow in the dark too, like that's just a gimmick you're never really gonna see used,' one posted to a fan group.
Others said the jersey looks more like a Parramatta strip than a Cowboys one.
'OMG this is a gee up. Hindy will have a field day when we play Parra,' one posted.
Another commented: 'We are the blue and grey not blue and yellow'.
'Yeah, actually that would be a killer design for the Eels,' joked another.
The Cowboys have won just seven matches this season and have crashed to 13th on the NRL ladder, adding to the angst over the new jersey.
'What's the point of having a glow jersey if players won't light it up?' an unhappy Cowboys fan asked.

'It's not the jersey that needs updating. It's the bloody defence,' fumed yet another.
The Cowboys' shocking season has heaped pressure on coach Todd Payten, with former North Queensland star Josh Hannay linked to the club as his possible replacement if the axe falls.
Prop Coen Hess went into bat for his under-siege coach this week.
'There's always pressure. It's the NRL,' Hess said.
'But the onus is on us as players, Toddy and the coaching staff do a tremendous job throughout the week. He's not out there missing the tackles or letting in tries.
'The responsibility is on the players. We take out onto the field, they give us a good enough game plan and the onus is on us to go out there and execute it.
'From my point of view I don't think it's very warranted, the pressure on Toddy or the coaching staff. We've got to have a good hard look in the mirror ourselves and play up to the standards they set for us, and that we know we're capable of.'
His thoughts were echoed by second-rower Kai O'Donnell.
'We've been lapsing in concentration, I think pretty much the whole season we haven't put an 80-minute performance together,' O'Donnell said.
'It's hard to put a finger on it, but I think it just comes down to concentration. We've got to concentrate for the whole 80 minutes, not just periods of a game, because that's where it falls apart.
'It's all on us, us 17 players, to do that and no one else can do it for us. There's no coaches or anyone else that can do it, it's just on us.
'It's hard for me to speak on behalf of everyone, but I think it's just individually prepping. I feel like we get enough good prep during the week, and a good game plan to go out and implement into the game.
'It's just doing that. We talk about it but now it's just about putting those actions in and maintaining it for the whole 80 minutes.'

It took me away from what was important."Root added that there were "loads of other things to contend with" on the last two Ashes tours in Australia in 2021-22 and 2017-18, both of which the hosts won 4-0."There were a lot of distractions," said Root."I was captain, Covid [during the 2021-22 defeat], there was the Stokes incident the time before that, the Jonny [Bairstow] headbutt incident as well. "This time I want to just go and enjoy the tour for what it is. It is a beautiful country it is a great place to go and play cricket. "I know if I put my best performances in then everything else will look after itself."

Joe Root has dismissed David Warner's jibe that he will need to 'take the surfboard off his front leg' if he and England are to triumph in Australia this winter. Warner fired the first shots in the phoney Ashes war by highlighting Root's failure to score a hundred in Australia, suggesting that Test cricket's second-highest run-scorer tends to get out lbw a lot. 'Josh Hazlewood tends to have his number quite a lot. He will have to take the surfboard off his front leg,' said Warner, who retired from international cricket last year but is in England with London Spirit in The Hundred and set to play against Root's Trent Rockets at Lord's on Thursday. Asked on a media call if he had laughed off the jibe, Root said: 'Just that. I can't have any control on how people see the game or talk in interview. 'Nothing new, is it? You know there are going to be storylines and people wanting to hype up a big series. Doesn't really change anything. 'It's sort of irrelevant to me. What can I do about it? Just make sure it's not a talking point in six months or 100 days time. 'When you get out there you've got to try and impact the game and help your team get off to a good start. Root's insatiable appetite for scoring runs shows no sign of slowing down with 22 hundreds in his last 61 Tests. Only India's Sachin Tendulkar has now scored more Test runs than Root, who now has 13,543 to his name and is 2,378 from top spot. Addressing his poor record in Australia remains a priority for Root, who will be playing in his fourth Ashes series Down Under this winter. 'The thing that stands out for me is I wanted it way too much the last couple of times,' said Root. 'It took me away from what was important. 'Clearly the last few tours there have been loads of other things to contend with… a lot of distractions. 'This time I just want to go and enjoy the tour for what it is. It's a beautiful country, great place to go and play cricket. It's going to be hostile, everything you'd expect and want from an away Ashes series. 'That's something you've got to relish. Going there with 150-odd Test matches under my belt, I feel couldn't be more ready for it.' Root has thrown himself into The Hundred, in which the Rockets have picked up two opening wins, despite the exhausting demands of the recent five-Test series against India, which was drawn 2-2. The 34-year-old expects to feature in September's white-ball home Test against South Africa, although he says no conversation has been held about his participation in another three-match pre-Ashes one-day international series in New Zealand. 'It was physically quite tiring, we fielded a lot,' Root reflected on the India series. 'It was mentally tiring as all the games went pretty much down to the wire. 'But when you flick into a new format, and a new dressing room, it can energise you in a different way. 'It's nice we've started so well.
