The Commanders continue to do their homework when scouting talent for the 2025 NFL draft and recently identified a productive under-the-radar wide receiver prospect.
South Alabama wide receiver Jamaal Pritchett tells me that he worked out for the Washington Commanders in Alabama on Monday morning.
Pritchett has made the most of his draft process this offseason as he represented the home team at the Senior Bowl against the top prospects in the NFL draft. After being snubbed from an invite to the NFL Combine, Jamaal would go on to blow scouts away at South Alabama's pro day with a 4.39-4.42 40-yard dash, and a 9-foot-9 broad jump.
The productive wide receiver prospect finished the 2024 season with an 88.2 PFF grade against zone coverage, the highest among all wide receivers in the 2025 NFL draft. Prichett had 91 catches in 2024, the third-most in the country. The former Jaguar also led the nation in yards after catch, with 759 of his 1,126 yards coming after the ball was in his hands, making him an open-field weapon.
Jamaal Pritchett was one of only five wide receivers in FBS to average 3+ yards per route run and 7.5+ yards after catch per reception in 2024, with 3.46 yards per route run and 8.3 yards after the catch. Washington could use Pritchett as an explosive play-maker in the slot position, but also fill another need on the team.

Jamaal Pritchett also added punt returner to his resume in his final season at South Alabama with 12 returns for 183 yards at a 15.3 yards per return average, and added a touchdown. Washington doesn't have a clear special-teams returner on the roster right now, and can certainly add Pritchett to the mix of options if they draft him in April, in addition to his instant impact on offense. Adam Peters excels at finding gems in the draft, and Jamaal Pritchett could be a big target for the Commanders in the draft.

Eagles outbid an NFC West rival for John Metchie
Eagles outbid an NFC West rival for John Metchie Don't interpret what hasn't been said, and please don't assume what hasn't been written. Covering the Philadelphia Eagles' general manager, Howie Roseman, has been a fulfilling experience. His mastery of all things salary cap has provided tons of opportunities for storytelling. His drafts get better and better. Few experiences rival the adrenaline rush of another ingenious roster move, most of which seemingly come out of nowhere. Our main question is simple: Why do the general managers of other teams still answer the phone when they see this guy's name on their caller ID? If you haven't heard, Roseman has struck again. His latest target is none other than the Houston Texans. Howie Roseman outwits the San Francisco 49ers News travels fast around Eagles-centric circles, so we doubt many haven't heard the news. John Metchie is an Eagle now. Here are the details of the trade. Would it be an overstatement to say Howie Roseman fleeced another NFL team? Sure, Philadelphia swaps a fifth-rounder for a sixth, but landing Metchie by simply moving on from Harrison Bryant feels like a win, right? Buckle up, friends. That isn't even the best part of the deal. The rumor mill is churning. Various NFL sources, including Jordan Schultz, report Philadelphia competed with the San Francisco 49ers to land Metchie. We see how that turned out. Roseman's shrewdness may have kept a potential difference-maker out of the hands of another NFC contender. The NFC West feels like it's property of the Los Angeles Rams now, but that doesn't mean the 49ers won't make noise during the regular season. Time will tell if this forces them into action and doing their due diligence to land another offensive weapon for Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, and company.

It will be the first time Williams starts under center with new head coach Ben Johnson calling the plays. Williams did not quite live up to expectations during his rookie season, but could be in line for a massive bounce-back year now that Johnson is in town. The former Heisman Trophy winner has all the talent to be one of the top passers in the NFL if he continues to develop. The Bills will be one of the most exciting teams in the league come the regular season, but they will likely not play their starters much during the preseason. Josh Allen and most of the starters sat out the first preseason game as they look to stay healthy entering the year. Buffalo has as good a shot as anyone to make it to the Super Bowl this season.
