MotoGP renews Valencia GP deal until 2031

March 25 (Reuters) - Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo will host five more MotoGP Grand Prix between 2027 and 2031, the motorcycle racing organisation said on Tuesday.
The Valencia GP, which started in 1999, has been the final Grand Prix of the MotoGP season in most years since 2002. It is known for its atmosphere and high turnout and has won the best Grand Prix award several times, MotoGP said in a statement.

Circuit Ricardo Tormo, which was already under contract until 2026, has signed a new five-year deal, MotoGP added.
"The track is unique with the view it offers to the spectators, and the fans make it unique for us with the incredible atmosphere they create," said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports.
"It is always full of people, the promoter does a fantastic job."
The Valencia GP was cancelled last year after a deadly flood killed over 200 people in the region. The circuit was also affected by the flood, with the approach roads to the venue suffering extensive damage.
"After what happened in 2024, we hope our return for another five Grand Prix underlines our longer term commitment to Valencia too. We're looking forward to coming back this season, and to celebrating more fantastic Grands Prix until 2031," Ezpeleta added.
The current MotoGP season is set to conclude with the Valencia GP on Nov. 16.

I just don't know what to say." When told whether the team can find some answers, he added: "I'm sure they won't - it was probably just me." Hamilton's former teammate Nico Rosberg said: "it's hard to watch" the Ferrari driver struggle. He added: "Sunday was a horrible day for him because he was just slow out there, which is very unusual, "Yes, sometimes he's off in qualifying but in races he's usually really awesome and the race was shockingly bad. "He doesn't have answers either. Was there damage on the floor? These floors are so sensitive and there can always be a bit there and you lose a lot of time. "When you don't have any answers, it's really tough as a driver then you see your team-mate race on their way to third place on the podium. Prestatyn Running Club members celebrated at annual awards
A record 13 members were nominated for the main award for member of the year, all having contributed in different ways. The winner, and recipient of the Pat Evans Memorial Plate, was Jo Lewis, who has not only helped to recruit new members by setting up groups for beginners and those wishing to return to running, but has also been largely responsible for the new kit. The other nominees were Jo's daughter Meg, Ben Thomas, Clare Manley, Nem James, Debbie Jones, Julie Evans, Liz Martin, Lee Bailey, Jonah Armstrong, Nicki Triggs and Duncan Longley. Despite missing out on the main, award Nem James had a double success, picking up the trophies for most improved male and volunteer of the year. Another double winner was Marc Jones, voted the male road runner and winner of the Grand Prix. Other recipients were: Ally Reid (Female Road Runner), Gordon Jones (Male Cross-country Runner for the third consecutive year); Sue Hughes (Female Cross-Country Runner), Lee Bailey (Male Fellrunner), Ann Claire Jones (Female Fellrunner), Meg Lewis (Most Improved Female), Jonah Armstrong (Best Newcomer), Ben Thomas (Men's Captains' Award), and Nicki Triggs and Clare Manley (joint winners of the Captains' Awards). During the evening, held at the Scala, club captain Lee Bailey summarised the club's many achievements during the year, Ben Thomas outlined the structure of the club's training sessions and members enjoyed a sports quiz. The annual Deganwy Dash five-mile race, held on Friday (May 30), provided rich pickings for the club as members claimed 10 podium places. Her incredible run saw her earn the nickname 'Queen of the Palace'. However, the Coronavirus pandemic stunted her momentum and Sherrock has since struggled to match the form she found over five years ago. In recent months, health issues have also hampered her progress. But she still hopes to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts and the World Championship this winter. Sherrock told Online Darts: "All I want to do is practice at home for a couple of hours a day, and I can't do that at the moment. "I've had to pull out of some exhibitions recently as well, because I haven't had the stamina. "So I've had to narrow down what I'm playing in now, and that hurts because I love darts. "My main objective this year is obviously the Worlds. But I want to try and get to the Grand Slam this year, because I feel like if I am going to have a year out next year, I want to make a bang. "I'm going to try and get to everything, then even if I'm not playing to my 100%, at least I can say that I made it." She continued: "I just need to sort myself out. I need to get myself well again and then once I do, the sky is the limit because I know I can do it and I know how many hours I've got to put in, what standard I've got to play. So I can do it, I just need the energy for it first." Sherrock opened up about her health struggles prior to her World Championship first-round defeat to Ryan Meikle in December. She said: "This year I feel like there is hardly any pressure on me at all. There are other players in the field who have got the media attention and stuff, so I can go under the radar. I have been poorly. "I haven't publicised it as such. Only a few people close to me actually know about it, but I am on the mend now and hopefully getting my confidence back." Sherrock is currently dating fellow darts star Cameron Menzies, who is ranked No36 in the world.
