Whirl-wind performance from O'Brien filly in Musidora
A market drifter before the off, the daughter of Wootton Bassett was sent off at 7-2 in the hands of Coolmore number one Ryan Moore, who was positive out of the stalls and never too far away from the pace.
It was Ralph Beckett's Sandown winner Tattycoram that led the field of Classic aspirants into the straight, but Whirl was hot on her tail, with Moore soon allowing his mount to stride on up the long run for home on the Knavesmire.
The further she went, the better Whirl got as she sauntered to a five-and-a-half-length success over Andrew Balding's Serenity Prayer, who made late ground from the back of the field.
The perfect ride from Ryan Moore 👏

Paddy Power trimmed the winner's odds for the Betfred Oaks to 10-1 from 33-1, but part-owner Michael Tabor suggested she is far from certain to head for Epsom.
He said: 'Ryan said before the race his plan was to bump her out and get a good position and if they caught her, then so be it.
'I don't think anyone expected that (performance) particularly, but Aidan seems to be able to do that, as we know.
'I don't really think that Whirl is an Oaks filly. I think she'd probably get a mile and a half, but over a mile and a quarter, something like the Prix de Diane, I think, would be more suitable, but I haven't discussed it with Derrick (Smith) or John (Magnier) or Aidan, so that's just my thinking.'
On what trip would be most suitable for Whirl, Moore added: 'She's by Wootton Bassett, so you can kind of do most things.
'She was very comfortable stepping up to that trip today and I thought she was impressive.
'She's very straightforward, was always travelling nicely, she didn't do a whole lot in front but she kept responding and I thought it was a nice performance.'
Andrew Balding's wife and assistant Anna-Lisa said of the runner-up: 'What a star she is, she's a lovely big filly. She struggled to go with them early as they went very quick but this is only her second run. To beat the fillies she has beaten is exciting. She's come a long way in a short time.

'I'd imagine it will be the Ribblesdale (at Royal Ascot) next, but I just put the saddle on! We'll all have a good chat tomorrow but there's lots to look forward to.'
Dual Lingfield winner Go Go Boots was third on her turf debut for John and Thady Gosden. Gosden senior said: 'We're delighted with the filly, she ran a very good race. She had a little trouble getting out of a pocket but she's run very nicely.
'She's learned a lot there, that's her first run on grass. That's what's happened this year, she's done two pieces of work on grass and everything else has been on the all-weather.
'We'll see what we want to do over the next few days but we are probably pointing towards the Ribblesdale, that looks the logical thing to do and we couldn't be happier with the run. She showed a great attitude, the second filly is nice and they were a long way clear of the fourth.
'These fillies are having to learn a lot very quickly and she probably got onto the course wondering what was underneath her feet!'

Value Scope: Each way horseracing tips from Steve Jones for Friday day on ITV
The Betfred Derby Festival opens at Epsom with the running of the Betfred Oaks and our tipster has a view on the likely outcome of the fillies' Classic Say hello to REVOIR (4.00) in the Betfred Oaks. Ralph Beckett's filly needs to show a fair chunk of improvement to have any chance in the fillies' version of the Epsom Classics. The step up to 1m4f for the first time is certainly one valid reason why she might take a significant leap forward. Her staying on second behind Qilin Queen at Newbury three weeks ago came in a Listed race that has been won by subsequent Group 1 winners Nashwa and Sea Of Class in recent years. The way she hit the line suggests this stiffer test of stamina is just what she wants and there has to be doubts about this distance for several of her rivals. She is also likely to have sharpened up for that first run since making a successful debut in heavy ground at Nottingham last October and the softer ground is another positive. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1. JULIA AUGUSTA (4.35) is worth chancing in the Trustatrader Handicap. She spent last summer running in Listed and Group races after joining David O'Meara from Roger Varian. Her fourth behind smart Breege in the Group 3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago was a cracking effort and it proves she handles this tricky track. She was also far from disgraced in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 3 Valiant Stakes. This handicap will be an awful lot easier and, if she is anywhere near her best on her first start since November, she should have solid claims. Have 1pt each-way at 25-1. Sky Bet is paying out on five places. WARDA JAMILA (3.15) ran really well when a close fourth in the City and Suburban Handicap on her first start of the season. She returns to run over the same course and distance in the Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap, having failed to cope with Chester's tight turns last month. The pick of her form from last year would give her a decent chance. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1. Sky Bet is offering five places.

Fallon expecting big performance from Desert Flower
The Irishman mastered the Classics on the famous Downs seven times – claiming four Oaks – during his highly decorated career in the saddle and is now a key component of Charlie Appleby's backroom team at Moulton Paddocks. An unbeaten daughter of Night Of Thunder, Desert Flower has left Fallon spellbound. He said: 'If the filly was running in the Derby I would think she would be very competitive, I would be wanting to back her. 'I think the Oaks is a foregone conclusion and she ticks all the boxes. She settles and will switch off nicely and she will be fine over the trip and she will go on any ground. 'She's the nicest filly I've seen in a long time and I thought she would maybe even be good enough to beat the colts.' Few have ridden Epsom better than Fallon, who has the likes of Oath (Derby, 1995) and Kris Kin (Derby, 2003) on his roll of honour, while in 2004 he did the Epsom double by landing the Oaks on Ed Dunlop's Ouija Board before following up 24 hours later aboard Sir Michael Stoute's North Light in the Derby. This is an achievement that awaits Appleby and Godolphin's number one pilot William Buick should both Desert Flower and his Derby mount, 2000 Guineas hero Ruling Court, succeed this weekend. However, while Fallon is steadfast in his belief in Desert Flower, he is wary of the challenge Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle team presents to the Classic-winning son of Justify in Epsom's showpiece event as he puts his stamina to the test. 'I think the Derby is an open race really,' added Fallon. 'Maybe it's best to stick with Ryan Moore and the draw for Delacroix (in 14) doesn't really matter if the horse is good enough. 'Ruling Court has lots of speed and won the best trial, but will he stay? I think Delacroix is guaranteed to stay whereas Ruling Court isn't. He's a horse with a lot of speed, but if there is a bit of cut in the ground it might not be ideal. 'Aidan has a great record in the race and you have to respect that, but it would be a very nice double if Charlie could do it.'
