5-year-old girl drowns in pond in South Tripura after heavy rain
The SEOC identified the deceased girl as Alina Tripura, a resident of Srikanta Para of the Srikanta Bari ADC village under the Jolaibari RD block. Local people noticed her body in the pond and recovered it, according to the report.
The government has provided the deceased girl's family with Rs 5,000 as interim compensation, the SEOC added.
The rain had led to the water level rising in the Muhuri, Feni, and Lawgang rivers in South Tripura district.
However, according to latest reports, the water level is going down in all rivers in the area and relief camps are not needed.
Earlier this month, four cases of drowning were reported from West Tripura and Unakoti districts.
Nearly two weeks ago, over 800 people in South Tripura district had to shift to relief camps following incessant rain.
Last year, devastating floods cost 38 lives, affected over 17 lakh people, and caused damage worth Rs 15,000 crore in road connectivity, power transmission, flood management infrastructure, households, public infrastructure, livestock, and agriculture.

Himachal Pradesh suffers losses of ₹1500 crore during ongoing monsoon season
Since the onset of monsoon in the state on June 20 till date, Himachal Pradesh has suffered losses of over ₹1,500 crores, officials said on Sunday (July 27, 2025). So far, 88 people have died and 35 have gone missing in rain-related incidents, and 1,316 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state. The state has experienced 42 flash floods, 25 cloudbursts and 32 landslides during this monsoon, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). Dharamshala received 35 mm of rainfall, followed by Malraon 26.4 mm, Kangra 26 mm, Dhaulakuan 17.5 mm, Kahu 14.5 mm, Manali 11 mm, Jot 10.8 mm, Jubberhatti 10.4 mm, Bajaura 10 mm, Joggindernagar 6 mm and Narkanda 5.5 mm. Thunderstorms lashed Sundernagar, Shimla, Murari Devi and Jubbarhatti. Nearly 200 roads, including two national highways, were closed for vehicular traffic on Sunday (July 27, 2025) evening owing to the rains and 75 power distribution transformers and 97 water supply schemes have also been affected across the state. Around 131 roads, including the Manali-Kotali road (NH-70), were closed in Mandi district alone, where multiple cloudbursts wreaked havoc on June 30 night. National Highway (305) Sainj to Aut road is blocked at Kekhsu and Jhed due to landslides in Kullu district. There was no significant change in the minimum and maximum temperatures, and Kukumseri was coldest at night, recording a low of 12.8 degrees Celsius, while Una was hottest in the day with a high of 35.6 degrees.

Bhatti reviews monsoon preparedness
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said that police and forest officials should not unnecessarily enter ROFR lands where farmers are engaged in agriculture. "The state govt has decided to provide solar pump sets, sprinklers, and drip irrigation equipment free of cost to these farmers under the Congress govt's Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme, at an estimated cost of Rs 12,600 crore over three years," Bhatti said. At a review meeting with the officials in Kothagudem Bhadradri district, Bhatti reviewed monsoon preparedness and stated that the water levels in Godavari at Bhadrachalam remain under control. However, he instructed officials concerned to implement all relief measures and ensure the availability of life jackets. "Since it is monsoon, health department officials should conduct regular medical checkups for students," he said. On promoting fish seed farming through self-help groups, the minister asked officials to prepare plans. "Currently, the govt is releasing 89 crore fish seedlings into water bodies every year. C'magaluru dist officials directed to clear encroachments, address rain damages
Chikkamagaluru: District in-charge secretary Rajender Kumar Kataria has directed the district administration to remove the encroachments in the Amrit Mahal Kaval area. During a review meeting at the zilla panchayat on Friday, Kataria expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of action despite previous instructions to clear the encroached land. He instructed officials to conduct a joint survey and reclaim the Amrit Mahal Kaval area. He also expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of action against aided schools that scored less than 60% in the SSLC exams. The deputy director of public instructions reported that notices were issued to schools with less than 60% results, and the recognition of 13 aided high schools with less than 50% results is being revoked. Instructions were given to implement a 29-point programme effectively for the 2025-26 SSLC results, he said.
