The 2025 UFL playoff picture is becoming clearer, as just six teams remain in playoff contention. Still, there is plenty to decide as the spring football season marches on to Week 8.
Notably, the Houston Roughnecks and Arlington Renegades are set to play for their playoff lives in Week 8. Each sits in third place in their respective conferences with records of 3-4, and a loss would make it either very difficult or impossible for them to make postseason runs.
Elsewhere, the top teams in each conference continue to jockey for the right to host their respective championship games. The XFL conference has the DC Defenders and St. Louis Battlehawks battling for the No. 1 seeds with 5-2 records, while the USFL conference is also led by a couple of 5-2 squads, the Birmingham Stallions and Michigan Panthers.
The tightly packed standings will set up an exciting three-week sprint to the UFL postseason. Here's what to know about the UFL's Week 8 schedule and how to watch all four matchups.
UFL schedule Week 8: What games are on today?
As always, there will be four UFL games this weekend. There is an unusual quirk this week, as two games are set to be played on Saturday simultaneously. Typically, the league hosts a Sunday doubleheader, but not this week.
Below is a complete look at the spring football league's Week 8 schedule.

The Showboats and Brahmas have both been eliminated from playoff competition, so this matchup will be more about pride than anything else. The two teams are the UFL's lowest-scoring squads but sport bottom-three scoring defenses, so the squad that can get its offense going more in this contest may ultimately win.
Memphis' offense has been better since it made Dresser Winn its starting quarterback, and he completed 21 of 34 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown last week against the Battlehawks. He should have another good game against the Brahmas and could get Memphis its second win.

Birmingham Stallions (5-2) at St. Louis Battlehawks (5-2)

This could be a preview of the UFL championship game, as the Stallions and Battlehawks are two of the top teams in the league. Each has dealt with injury issues at quarterback this year, but they have navigated them well to tie for the league's best record.
The Stallions' quarterback situation will particularly bear watching this week. Skip Holtz is turning to J'Mar Smith, who came out of retirement amid Birmingham's injury issues, to start at the position. That said, Alex McGough should soon return from the shoulder injury that has sidelined him since the first snap of the season. Fellow UFL veteran Case Cookus has also started this season, giving Holtz an embarrassment of riches at the position.
Meanwhile, the Battlehawks will hope Max Duggan can continue to get more comfortable as his maiden UFL season continues. The 2023 seventh-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers completed 15 of 23 passes for 158 yards, one touchdown and one interception last week against the Showboats.
DARYL JOHNSTON: UFL coaching departures not about lack of confidence in league
Michigan Panthers (5-2) at Houston Roughnecks (3-4)

The Roughnecks are effectively in do-or-die mode for the rest of the UFL season. They are two games back of the Panthers and Stallions in the USFL conference standings, so losing to Michigan in this matchup could eliminate them if Birmingham beats St. Louis.
Beating Michigan will be no easy task. Bryce Perkins has been one of the best quarterbacks in the UFL and the Panthers have been great in close games. They are fresh off a last-second 25-24 win over Arlington, during which Toa Taua scored a game-tying touchdown as time expired before punching in the game-winning one-point conversion.
The Roughnecks have played better since inserting Jalan McClendon at quarterback. Perhaps he can lead Houston to a win and keep it in the playoff race.

Arlington Renegades (3-4) at DC Defenders (5-2)

The Renegades are in a similar spot to the Roughnecks. If Arlington loses, it could be eliminated from postseason contention. That would be a frustrating reality for Bob Stoops' squad, which has lost three consecutive games by six points or less.
Included in that streak was a 37-33 Week 5 loss to the Defenders. The Renegades have sported one of the UFL's best scoring defenses outside of that game, but if they have trouble containing Jordan Ta'amu, it may be hard for Arlington to get the win it needs to stay alive in the playoff race.
