NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, a former Oklahoma City Thunder player, has called the new MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 'the greatest Thunder of all-time.' However, this hasn't gone down well with many NBA fans—especially Oklahoma City Thunder supporters—who reminded him of former greats like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden and their contributions to the team.
Internet reacts to Kendrick Perkins' remarks about Shai Gilgeous Alexander
Kendrick Perkins said on NBA Today on ESPN, 'Let's talk about SGA. The greatest Thunder of all-time. He already joined the company of Michael Jordan this year – three consecutive seasons of 30 [points per game], shooting over 50 percent, now he's hoisting up the MVP trophy, and now he's on his way to going to the NBA Finals and he's going to win an NBA championship, and he's going to become Finals MVP.'
As a video of Perkins' comment was shared on X with the question of whether others agree, one fan responded, 'Come on Kendrick.
Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double 3 straight seasons with OKC. But there will be an argument to be made for SGA if they win a championship.' Another said, 'They just can't prop up Shai without bringing the ones who came before him down it's pathetic.' One more commented, 'Russ & Harden are up there too.
What they did is the reason OKC is the way it is today.'
However, many noted that if Alexander wins a championship, Perkins' claim could gain more validity.
'If he wins the title I'd say he has a great case,' read one of many similar comments. Reacting to Perkins' statement, an X user also said, 'Not yet. 3+ years if he stays this course, then absolutely. KD and Russ are still ahead FOR NOW.'
One user who agreed with Perkins added, 'I see the point of everyone putting Russ and KD ahead of SGA. But I would like to point out SGA is a team above everything else. Russ and KD were more focused on themselves. They didn't make everyone on the team better. This team wouldn't be as good with either of them on it. SGA.'

"Bottom tier organization" -Indiana Pacers management leaves fans disappointed ahead of Game 1 of NBA finals (Image source: Getty) Indiana Pacers arranged a free merch event for their supporters ahead of the NBA finals which ended in chaos. With fans lining up for the free merch at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Pacers' were out of the freebies before the event could even end. Though the massive number of supporters did show enthusiasm, the poor management and risk handling skills of the Pacers' management is out for scrutiny. After being out of freebies for the event, the team made the announcement on their Instagram and X handles, leaving fans, who were waiting for hours, disappointed. Indiana Pacers' Gear Grab event went out of hands The recent drive through event organized by the Indiana Pacers went out of hand as the team was out of free merchandise before the event ended. The event, named 'Drive Thru Gear Grab,' was held on June 5, 2025, the day of NBA finals, thus increasing fans' excitement. The team had officially made the announcement on June 4, 2025, where they clearly stated that it will be a drive-through free merchandise event at Pennsylvania St. side of Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the first 5000 vehicles will get their hands on exclusive Pacers' merchandise. The event was supposed to start at 4 PM EDT and should have lasted for 3 hours. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tecno Pova Curve 5G - 144hz Curve Feels Like No Phone Before TECNO Mobile Book Now Undo What the team did not expect was the huge queue of fans lining up for the event before the starting time. Due to the huge response, all the merchandise packs went out even before the event ended. Due to this, the Pacers' had to make an official statement apologizing to fans regarding the sudden pause and thanking them for showing up in big numbers. One fan went on to say, 'Been here since 3:30pm thanks for giving away all the bags to people who walked up instead of those who followed the rules and stayed in their cars in the drive up lane.' It seemed various fans did not follow the rule of staying in the drive through lane and went straight up to get the gear packs. What's more astonishing is that the Pacers' management didn't do anything about it. Despite the chaos, most fans are quite happy that the team is now one step closer to that trophy. Indiana Pacers is entering the finals for the first time since 2000, which makes it all the more special for the fandom. Whether they will sweep the trophy from the OKC Thunder or disappoint their fans again, remains to be seen. The nets were assigned the names Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers, respectively. Air Corgi deflected the ball from a distance using the headshot, and it went down the nets. Take a look at the snapshot of the same: So, according to her predictions, the Indiana Pacers are likely to get crowned the new champions of the NBA. In response to a question asked by a fan, X's AI tool Grok replied: 'Air Corgi has been right in about 75% of its 2025 NBA playoff predictions, correctly forecasting three out of four series. It accurately predicted the Pacers over the Cavaliers (4-1), the Knicks over the Celtics (4-2, inferred), and the Pacers over the Knicks (4-2) in the Eastern Conference. However, it incorrectly predicted the Rockets over the Warriors (Warriors won 4-3). These are playful guesses, not based on analysis, so accuracy may be coincidental. Is Hapoel Tel Aviv going to be new home of Russell Westbrook? European basketball insider spilled beans on ongoing rumors

Is Hapoel Tel Aviv going to be new home of Russell Westbrook? European basketball insider spilled beans on ongoing rumors (Image Credit: Getty Images) European Basketball reporter Nemanja Zoric shared a fresh update on the rumored offer made to the Denver Nuggets' Russell Westbrook by Hapoel Tel Aviv. He shared that initial talks are on between the European football club and the Nuggets' guard. And the interest is not one-sided; Russell is also sending positive vibes by picking up the phone and actively participating in starting discussions. On X, Nemanja Zoric wrote: 'Hapoel Tel Aviv has made initial contact with former NBA All Star Russell Westbrook. Im told the Eurocup champions are planning to make him an offer with a salary never seen before in European basketball.' Is Hapoel Tel Aviv going to be new home of Russell Westbrook? European basketball insider spilled beans on ongoing rumors (Image Credit: Getty Images) The high point of this impending association is the salary. It is being speculated that the deal offered to the Denver Nuggets' star is too good to refuse and will be a ground-breaking figure. Russell Westbrook is at a stage where he should be exploring new opportunities. He is almost at the end of his NBA career with only one year of the contract with the Denver Nuggets remaining in hand. Hence, the rumors around the new offer coming his way are definitely good news for him and his fans. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Ready to Live in 3 & 4 BHK from ₹4.65 Cr* in Sec 22 Ambience Creacions, Gurugram Learn More Undo But, is the new offer really lucrative, or is it just that Russell wants to test new waters? The question is roaming around a lot because of the fact that European players are not paid as lucratively as NBA players are. For instance, the NBA veterans' highest salary is $10 million, while Stephen Curry reportedly takes home $56 million from his NBA contract. But in European Basketball, the only talk-worthy package is that of Nikola Mirotic, who made news with his three-year, $29-million contract with Barcelona. It was the highest package in European Basketball. How much money is Russell Westbrook making currently? Russell Westbrook has a player option in his contract with the NBA, and his 2025-26 season will fetch him $3,468,960. To be ready to make a move to a European franchise, the pay package offered is expected to be mammoth. However, the player at 37 may need to make some adjustments as regards to salary to arrive at a feasible proposition. Russell has investments in US ventures and also takes home millions from endorsement deals with top brands like Nike, Samsung, and Pepsi. He is a part investor in a pizza chain and is associated with the clothing line 'Honor the Gift.' All these associations and investments have helped him build an estimated net worth of $300 million as of May 2025, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Also Read: Denver Nuggets Point Guard Russell Westbrook's sweet gesture for a South Korean NBA fan wins heart Hence, Westbrook's going to Europe to be a part of a new team will make sense only when the offer is gigantic enough to match the income he generates as an NBA player. Back home in the NBA, he is yet to win a title, and with ongoing reformations in the team, a player may have a chance at it, should he choose to hang up his cleats as a Denver Nuggets player.
