Rapper Fat Joe hits back with defamation lawsuit against ex-hypeman

Express Tribune01-05-2025
Rapper Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, has filed a defamation lawsuit against his former hypeman, Terrance 'T.A.' Dixon.
The lawsuit stems from Dixon's claims that the "Make It Rain" rapper is a "pedophile."
According to Joe, Dixon began making these false accusations because he believed he was owed money.
The lawsuit accuses Dixon of "countless posts on social media containing a torrent of wholly fabricated, grotesque, and scandalous allegations accusing Cartagena of unspeakable acts such as pedophilia, statutory rape and sexual assault."
Dixon worked for Joe between 2006 and 2019.
However, the hypeman allegedly believes that Joe was responsible for blocking him from getting his own record deal.
Joe has also named Dixon's attorney, the controversial Tyrone Blackburn, in the lawsuit, accusing them both of defamation.
The Terror Squad legend claims Dixon and Blackburn approached him earlier this year seeking payment for "ghostwriting and uncredited vocalist" work.
Earlier this month, the duo allegedly threatened to file a complaint accusing Joe of sex trafficking, rape, fraud and false labor.
Joe also cites emails purportedly sent by Blackburn threatening to report him to Homeland Security.
There are also numerous Instagram posts from Dixon insinuating that Joe liked underage girls and was a pedophile.
In response to the suit, Blackburn said in a statement that Joe's filing was "a baseless lawsuit in an effort to soften the blow of what's to come. It won't work. Fat Joe has a lot of explaining to do."
Joey Crack also released a statement saying: "These allegations are completely false and part of a criminal conspiracy orchestrated between a disgruntled former hype man and his attorney. These two individuals have been scheming together to extort me with their elaborate and ludicrous demands changing by the day.
"The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation I've endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable. I'm taking legal action to expose their misconduct and I'm fully confident that the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam."
Joe is being represented by noted attorney, Joe Tacopina, who said in his own statement: "The allegations against Mr. Cartagena are completely false and part of a criminal extortion scheme orchestrated by an attorney who a federal judge recently condemned for abusing the court system to harass and pressure defendants."
Joe Tacopina is a prominent criminal defense lawyer, who successfully leading rapper A$AP Rocky to a non-guilty verdict in his felony shooting trial.

Cardi B announces new single ‘Imaginary Players' ahead of long-awaited sophomore album

Cardi B has officially announced the release of her next single, 'Imaginary Players,' set to drop this Friday, August 15. The rapper shared the news on Instagram with a bold promotional image featuring her in pink hair, draped in a white fur coat and posing in front of a white Rolls Royce. 'Just a lil taste of the drama. IMAGINARY PLAYERS THIS FRIDAY,' she wrote in the caption. The track will be part of her upcoming sophomore album Am I the Drama?, which is slated for release on September 19 via Atlantic Records. This marks her first full-length project since 2018's Invasion of Privacy, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, and later made history as the first album by a female rapper to have all tracks certified platinum or higher by the RIAA. 'Imaginary Players' follows the success of her recent single 'Outside,' which topped both the Rhythmic Airplay and Rap Airplay charts earlier this month. It also entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 10, becoming Cardi B's 13th top 10 hit. In addition to 'Imaginary Players' and 'Outside,' the new album will include her chart-topping collaborations 'WAP' with Megan Thee Stallion and 'Up.' Addressing criticism about including previously released singles, Cardi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), 'WAP and Up are two of my biggest songs… my fans have been asking me to put them on an album… they deserve a home.' Am I the Drama? has been in the making for seven years and is one of the most anticipated hip-hop releases of 2024. With her signature style and bold visuals, Cardi B promises to bring more drama, energy, and chart-topping hits to fans worldwide.

What is TS12? – Is Taylor Swift announcing new music?

Taylor Swift fans are convinced a new album announcement is imminent, as cryptic clues shared by Swift's team and online resurfaced videos fuel intense speculation ahead of a possible August 12 reveal. On Monday, Swift's official fan account, Taylor Nation, posted a carousel of 12 photos from the Eras Tour on Instagram, each featuring Swift in orange-toned outfits. The caption — 'Thinking about when she said 'See you next era…'❤️‍🔥' — instantly caught fans' attention. Orange has never been the theme color for any of Swift's previous albums, leading many to believe it may signal her upcoming 12th studio release, dubbed 'TS12' by fans. Shortly after, a resurfaced TikTok video Swift originally posted in October 2024 began circulating again. In the clip, she walks around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami and stops at section A12 before turning to the camera and winking — a moment fans now view as another intentional nod to her next project. Adding fuel to the rumors, Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason teased a 'special episode' of their New Heights podcast set to drop Wednesday, August 13 — notably, Swift's favorite number. The promotional image features an orange background and a female silhouette, prompting speculation that Swift may appear as a guest to announce the album. Republic Records, Swift's label, also engaged with Taylor Nation's Instagram post and the podcast teaser, further reinforcing fan theories. Although Swift has not officially confirmed new music, signs suggest a reveal is near. In April, DJ Jacob Criborn mentioned that Swedish composer Erik Arvinder was helping finish Swift's new record, though no further details were shared. The anticipation follows Swift's April 2024 release of The Tortured Poets Department and her May 2025 announcement that she now owns her full discography. Swift called the moment her 'greatest dream come true,' after a lengthy battle over her master recordings. As fans eagerly await confirmation, many believe the clues point to a major announcement by August 12 or 13.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez appear to be engaged after nearly a decade together

Cristiano Ronaldo's long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez, has sparked major engagement speculation after sharing a telling post on Instagram that seems to confirm the couple is now engaged. Rodriguez, 31, posted a photo of her hand adorned with a prominent ring resting atop Ronaldo's hand, accompanied by the caption: 'Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.' The message, widely interpreted as a confirmation of a marriage proposal, has fueled excitement among fans. The couple first met in 2016 when Georgina was working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store in Madrid. Their relationship quickly developed from a private romance to a public partnership, becoming official when Georgina joined Ronaldo at the 2017 FIFA The Best Awards. Since then, the pair have built a large family together. Georgina gave birth to their first daughter, Alana Martina, later that same year. They later welcomed another daughter, Bella Esmeralda, in 2022, though heartbreakingly, her twin brother passed away during childbirth. Georgina has also played a significant role in raising Ronaldo's three older children: Cristiano Jr., and twins Eva and Mateo. Despite ongoing speculation over the years about when Ronaldo, now 40, might propose, he had previously said he was waiting for 'that click,' telling reporters, 'It could be in a year or it could be in six months or it could be in a month. I'm 1,000 percent sure that it'll happen.' Hints have emerged before—Georgina previously shared a photo wearing a different ring and was referred to as Ronaldo's 'wife' during a 2024 speech at the Globe Soccer Awards. Now, with her latest post, fans and media alike are treating it as the clearest indication yet that the football legend and the model-influencer are officially engaged.
