SoFi Stadium will co-host Olympics opening ceremony, with the Coliseum
Via Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times, the two stadiums will co-host the opening ceremony. It's the first time the opening ceremony will unfold in two separate venues.
The precise plan for the two-site ceremony has yet to be determined. There's still time to figure it out — the ceremony happens on July 14, 2028.
Los Angeles previously hosted the Olympics in 1932 and 1984.
During the Olympics, SoFi Stadium will host both track and field and the swimming competition. The schedule of those events has been flipped, with track and field happening in the first week of the games, and swimming in the second.
Not long after the games end, the 2028 preseason will begin at SoFi Stadium for the Rams and the Chargers.

Matthew Stafford says he's taking a ‘day-to-day approach' in return from injury
As Matthew Stafford got to the podium on Thursday, he joked that he was sure reporters wanted to ask him questions about the paper cut he suffered. The Rams star quarterback, speaking to the media for the first time since training camp, then fielded inquiries about the back injury that kept him sidelined until this week. Stafford, 37, practiced for the fourth day in a row, another small milestone for the 17th-year pro and a team aiming to make a Super Bowl run. 'The good thing is I feel pretty good,' he said. 'The last couple days out there practicing, I was able to do even more than I thought I was going to be able to do the first day, and then I've just been trying to stack days. 'Backs are sometimes interesting things. It's not cut and dry, what's what and how you're going to feel. So I'm really appreciative of our team, our head coach and everybody taking a day-to-day approach with me and doing everything they can to try and help me out. 'I have a feeling of responsibility to our team to do what's right by them and I'm trying to do that as best as I can day in and day out.' Stafford declined to discuss specifics of his injury, which coach Sean McVay has described as an aggravated disc. Stafford said there was not a particular offseason incident that caused the condition and said he has done 'everything under the sun' to be able to return to the field. Asked if he expected to be ready for the Sept. 7 opener against the Houston Texans, he said, 'I'm not going to answer questions like that. … It's probably a day-to-day thing. I'm just doing everything I can to try and be out there for the next practice.' Coach Sean McVay said Stafford looked good throughout the week. 'I've seen a guy that's gotten better,' McVay said. 'He looks like the stud that we know.' Stafford will not travel to Cleveland for the Rams' final preseason game on Saturday, McVay said.

Matthew Stafford's wife, Kelly, responds to wild conspiracy theories after QB's health issues
Matthew Stafford's back issue has sparked some bizarre theories. The Rams' veteran quarterback missed preseason action and most of training camp due to lingering back soreness — for which he's received epidurals to manage pain — and his wife, Kelly Stafford, is taking speculation over his health in stride. Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, Kelly reposted a Barstool Sports headline that read, 'The Best NFL conspiracy theory on the internet – Matthew Stafford died a couple weeks ago, got cloned, new one is now QB1 for the Rams.' Advertisement 3 Kelly Stafford and Matthew Stafford. Instagram/Kelly Stafford She added, 'I knew there was something different about him….that @ammortal_official is wild.' The most bizarre corners of social media have concocted the idea that Stafford has passed away — despite zero evidence to support the fact. Advertisement Kelly tagged Ammortal Inc, a company that her husband uses for their Ammortal Chamber, which is 'the fastest way to reset, recharge and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit,' according to its website. Earlier this month, Stafford used a mobile Ammortal Chamber that was inside of a trailer at a Rams practice, as seen in photos posted by reporters. Stafford returned to the field Monday for the first time this summer for practice in full pads. 3 The Ammortal Chamber Advertisement Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters after practice that Stafford participated in 26 plays of team drills, per the team's official website. 'It was good to be able to have Matthew out there. He did a good job today. I thought he looked good. I don't really have any updates,' McVay said. 'We're going to keep it a day and really a week at a time, but it was great to be able to see him out there today. We'll see how this afternoon goes and tomorrow.' Stetson Bennett, who shined in preseason, is next up on the depth chart. The Rams close out the preseason against the Browns on Saturday. Los Angeles is looking to build on its Divisional Round appearance last season, a 28-22 loss to the Eagles that proved to be Philadelphia's tightest postseason game en route to their Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.

Isaiah Bond will play in the Browns' final preseason game
Wide receiver Isaiah Bond hasn't been a member of the Browns for long, but he's been around long enough to get a role in their final preseason game. Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters at a Thursday press conference that Bond will play against the Rams on Saturday. Bond signed with the team on Monday and has practiced with them three times. Stefanski did not say how much he expects Bond to play or with what group of players on the depth chart. Bond had 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdowns while at Texas during the 2024 season. He was projected to be picked in the first few rounds after running a 4.39 40-yard dash at the Combine, but a sexual assault allegation led to teams avoiding him in April. He signed with the Browns days after a grand jury no-billed the case.
