Cops step up manhunt for suspect in Klang shooting incident

SHAH ALAM: Police are intensifying efforts to track down the suspect involved in a shooting incident and the discovery of spent bullet casings in Klang near here last Thursday (July 24).
South Klang OCPD Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah said police received a report from a member of the public regarding the incident at 11.15pm on the same day.
He said the motive behind the incident is still under investigation.
"Police are actively tracing the suspect involved and the case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960 for the offence of discharging a firearm," he said in a statement Monday (July 28).
Members of the public with any information related to the case are urged to contact the South Klang district police headquarters at 03-3376 2222 to assist with the investigation.
Earlier, a video claiming a shooting incident had taken place in Taman Sentosa Phase 19, Klang, had gone viral on social media. - Bernama

When officers attempted to inspect the vehicle, the driver fled, ignoring orders to stop over the loudspeaker. The suspect's vehicle was detected speeding towards Kampung Sindang before looping back to Aiman Mall and then heading towards the Kuching District Police Headquarters. During the escape, the suspect's car collided with a police pickup truck, damaging its rear door. The suspect after being arrested by police. REMBAU, July 29 ( Bernama) -- The motive behind the suspected murder of a six-year-old boy, whose body was found buried in Rompin, Jempol yesterday, has yet to be determined, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said. He said that the main suspect, the boy's 36-year-old biological father, has been arrested and preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have been experiencing marital problems with his wife. 'The post-mortem began at noon today. We were informed that the suspect had domestic issues and is in the process of getting a divorce. He has not been cooperative in the investigation,' he told Bernama here today. Meanwhile, a sombre setting surrounded the Rembau Hospital forensic unit, where the boy's mother, accompanied by close family members from Johor Bahru, was present to identify the body. Ahmad Dzaffir told the media yesterday that the boy's body was found around 4.30 pm, adding that the victim is believed to have been buried after being murdered. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Separately, Iskandar Puteri district police chief ACP M. Kumarasan today confirmed that a man has been remanded for seven days from July 25 to assist in the investigation. The suspect had initially lodged a police report claiming the child had gone missing in Bukit Indah on July 24. Kumarasan said the suspect originally claimed that the boy had disappeared on July 23 at about 4 pm, stating that he had left the child alone in a car while he went to purchase food. The suspect is also being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for lodging a false police report.

(Bernama pic) KUALA LUMPUR : The immigration department arrested 171 foreign nationals in a one-hour enforcement operation around the Jalan Masjid India area, here, today. Immigration department enforcement director Basri Othman said the operation, which began at noon, saw 160 officers questioning 758 individuals, including 254 locals. They also inspected 14 business premises. Those arrested were from India, Bangladesh and Indonesia, and aged between 20 and 50 years old. Basri said they were detained for various immigration violations such as overstaying, violating visa conditions, and not possessing identification documents. He also revealed that some foreigners attempted to disguise themselves as customers to avoid detection, but their efforts were thwarted by the enforcement officers. 'Our officers were in the area from 10am to distinguish between the foreign workers and genuine customers,' he added. All the detainees were taken to the temporary immigration depot in Beranang, Selangor. The immigration department conducted a similar raid in the Jalan Masjid India area on Feb 15.
