There will be several precursor events before the main event in June.
Ramlutchman, also known as Prince Mabheka Zulu, confirmed that Durban has been designated as the permanent host city for the International Day of Yoga in South Africa.
The 11th International Day of Yoga will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 8am to 12pm at the Durban Beachfront Amphitheatre.
'Durban is a natural home for this global celebration. It is easily accessible, rich in multi-cultural diversity, and deeply supportive of peace and wellness,' Ramlutchman said.
The 2025 event is themed 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health, and Oneness' and is expected to attract over 3,000 local participants and visitors from across South Africa and beyond.
This celebration has increasing strategic support from provincial and national governments, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, private-sector partners, and the United Nations.
Support for the yoga celebration includes the KZN government, Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, the National Department of Health, Durban Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba, and various private-sector stakeholders.
Additionally, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has formally partnered with the event. The partnership underscores UNESCO's mission of promoting peace, culture, and sustainable development. It also highlights Durban's connection to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as Okhahlamba within Giant's Castle in the Drakensberg Mountains.
The event also marks the 100th birth anniversary of Sri Swami Sahajanandaji, spiritual head of South Africa's largest spiritual institution, The Divine Life Society.
He was a towering spiritual figure in South Africa who exemplified yoga through dedicated, selfless service to the disadvantaged. His extensive initiatives included establishing schools, creches, and clinics, and fostering strong social unity. Through these diverse programmes and infrastructure development, he created a lasting foundation of social cohesion.
Swami Sahajanandaji brought out the true meaning of yoga to be to integrate the mind and body through selfless action.

Bheki Ndamase talks about how to slay like a content creator
Digital marketer and content creator Bheki Ndamase has carved a career in the spotlight defined by his exuberant videos and stylish images that capture his love for chic fashion and fun one-of-a-kind experiences. This year he will be a part of Hollywood Bets' Durban July fashion takeover, as one of several ambassadors for the company. We catch up with the star on how he will take on new styling, his tips for red carpet newbies and his preferred theme. What can fans who follow your looks expect this year? Something that is going to be out of my comfort zone. I'm not someone who likes a lot of colour but I want to express myself in a bright manner because the theme is South African and South Africans express their happiness in colours. You are no stranger to creating red carpet moments, but for the newbies who have to take on the spotlight for the first time, what advice do you have? People need to wear what they are comfortable with. You don't want to arrive on a red carpet with, for example, a short skirt. You don't want to be caught pulling it down constantly. It could become a media moment and because the media has expanded to content creators, imagine you are in the background of a video fixing whatever fashion faux pas you are busy with. Be comfortable in what you will be wearing. What three essential items do you have in your bag at any event? A tripod Lip gloss Power bank What are the 'marvels of Mzansi' that fill you with pride? Besides our noticeable ubuntu, it's that we have so much freedom in our country. We are so different, from the tribes to the different races. There are Indian or Chinese people who are South African and while other countries would be calling to chase them out, they are at home here. There's a great freedom of expression that allows us to express ourselves in so many ways and I think that's why even our TikTok is globally recognised as one of the top ones. Some other countries don't give people that freedom. What theme would you like to see at next year's event? To relate it to Hollywood Bets, I would say The Purple Effect, to see how everyone interprets different shades of purple. A collaborative theme.

'What happened to her face?': Amor Vittone questioned over new look
Singer and actress Amor Vittone is accused of overusing filters – or possibly going under the knife – after she posted a picture of her seemingly youthful face on her Facebook account. The 53-year-old entertainer is the widow of the late Springbok Joost van der Westhuizen. They share two children. In a recent Facebook post, Amor Vittone posted a picture of herself with a motivational message. In the picture, the mother of two appeared noticeably younger, with immaculate make-up, smooth, clear skin, and a wrinkle-free face. Under the post in the comments section, Amor's followers questioned her polished appearance… Christa Binedell: 'This does not look like her?' Dawn Goosen: 'What has she done to her face?' Kearns Lawrence: 'It's not you!' Annalien Matthysen: 'Is this AI?' Loving the winter sun! … Posted by Amor Vittone on Tuesday 3 June 2025 While Amor Vittone has dated a plastic surgeon, she has been adamant that she hasn't had any. Late last year, the mother of two shut down speculation about her appearance. In the comments section of one of her posts, she posted: 'Kan julle net relax! Nie Botox of fillers nie. [Can you relax! No botox or filler]. Instead, she credited her picture-perfect snaps to 'good make-up and lighting with slight filter' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 .
