Fan favorite TV show loses another star as insider claims 'nobody is safe' in shakeup

Daily Mail18-07-2025
Chicago Fire is set to lose yet another cast member for season 14, according to reports.
Michael Bradway had a recurring role on the NBC drama for two seasons as firefighter Jack Damon and starred in a total of 17 episodes across 2024 and 2025. He notably played Kelly Severide's long-lost half-brother.
However, it has been widely reported that Bradway won't be coming back for the new series – although producers are said to be open to bringing him back at a later date.
Daily Mail has contacted NBC for comment.
Bradway's exit from Chicago Fire comes after it was reported in April that fellow stars Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett would not be returning.
According to Deadline, Kyri and Lockett's exits were 'believed to be part of an effort to trim the budget of Chicago Fire, which also faces negotiations with many of the series' veteran cast members whose contracts are up.'
They added that there could be more departures as actors are currently renegotiating their contracts and renewal talks between NBC and producing studio Universal Television on the five Wolf Entertainment series continue.
Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman recently addressed the spate of exits in an interview with TVInsider.
'There's nobody safe in this shakeup,' she said.
'Next season is going to be about how the s**t really hits the fan once that mandate comes down and how things get shaken up and how our team can hold together as a family while all this craziness is happening around them.'
Kyri joined Chicago Fire in the show's seventh season as Firefighter Darren Ritter in a recurring role before getting promoted to the main cast in season nine.
He addressed his departure in a statement shared on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday.
'I'll miss this character, and it's time to move on,' Kyri wrote. 'Thank you to the cast, crew, and the awesome fans.'
Meanwhile, Lockett has starred as Firefighter Sam Carver since the 11th season. Like Kyri, he also began in a recurring role before joining the main cast in season 13.
Although his time on Chicago Fire might be over, Bradway will soon be back on television screens as he has just been cast in the upcoming Prime Video series Every Summer After.
Originally announced in July 2024 under the title, Every Year After, the show is based on Carley Fortune's bestselling romantic novel.
Bradway has been cast as Charlie, the brother of the main protagonist, while Saltburn actress Sadie Soverall and Disney channel actor Matt Cornett will take on the lead roles of Percy and Sam.
No one is more pleased about the talent than author Fortune, who enthused: 'I couldn't be more excited about this fabulous cast.
'This is an enormously talented group of actors, whose auditions made me laugh, swoon, and cry. I know they'll have fans of Every Summer After falling in love with their favorite characters all over again.'
'We are thrilled to bring the beautifully crafted story, Every Summer After, to our global Prime Video customers as Every Year After,' said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios said last year.
'Carley Fortune's wildly successful book is the perfect blend of heartfelt nostalgia and poignant romance.
'With Leila Gerstein's vision the audience will go through an exploration of this remarkable narrative in a way that captures its essence and emotional depth.'

Mack Maine announces son has died aged 20 from seizure

Rapper Mack Maine took to social media on Monday to mourn the tragic loss of his 16-year-old son Isaiah as result of a seizure. The New Orleans native, 43, posted a lengthy emotional statement on Instagram revealing that his teen son passed away as result of a seizure less than two weeks ago. 'This is a pain I've personally never felt before,' Maine said, 'but I'm still trusting and believing in God's plan and God's will and mercy.' Maine, a longtime friend and associate of rapper Lil Wayne, prefaced the moving statement in noting that he had 'been trying to build up the strength to put up this post since last night.' Maine, whose real name is Jermaine Anthony Preyan, wrote that 'On July 16th I received a call that my son Isaiah (Zeke) passed away at his home in California from a seizure.' The musician was candid in dissecting the tragic situation, as he said he was 'still in shock and still processing the fact that he's gone;' and 'still confused, still questioning life and why my child and not me.' Maine added that he was comforted by the spiritual implications following Isaiah's premature passing. 'I know I am/was his father while he was here in the flesh but now he's ascended to rejoin OUR Father God in the spirit and his ancestors who also loved him dearly like his grandfather (my dad) and his grandmother,' Maine said. Maine thanked his late son for providing him 'with one of the greatest gifts [he's] ever received, Fatherhood!' He continued: 'The experience and bond with you and I brought me purpose… YOU were my biggest inspiration and were the reason I got out of the bed when everyone else snoozed. 'Your smile brightened my dark days as you were my SONshine. Your soul was made of innocence and your heart was pure. Since July 16th your village has been crushed and we're hurting.' Maine was supported by a number of notable names in the hip-hop community, including Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz and Tyga. 'I don't even believe what I just read,' said Minaj. 'This can't be real. I love you so much.' The Super Bass songstress had kind words in remembering Isiah, calling him 'the most incredible young man' and 'such a perfect boy.' Others in the music industry rallied around Maine with words of kindness and support Said Minaj, 'I have no words to express what you must be feeling. No words. We are praying for your whole family, Mack. We love you so much.' Rapper 2 Chainz said in a comment in the thread, 'Bru im so sorry to hear this, praying for you and the fam I love ya bru.'
