A Texas food delivery driver is recovering after he was attacked outside a restaurant — by a man he offered to help.
According to reports from local affiliate station Fox 4 and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 28-year-old Jackson Oltmanns had just finished delivering food for DoorDash in south Fort Worth at around 2 a.m. local time on March 31.
Oltmanns was in a parking lot of a Waffle House on West Rendon Crowley Road, and was preparing to go inside, when a man — identified by the outlets as 24-year-old Quindarius Cartwright — allegedly approached him and asked for money.
In a GoFundMe campaign, Oltmanns alleges that he told the man that he did not have cash, and instead offered to buy him some food. As he got out of his car, the man allegedly stabbed him and attempted to steal his car.
"He told me he was just trying to get some food, you know, acting out of my good nature and just trying to be nice," Oltmanns told Fox 4. "I opened my car and was going to get him some food, and literally the second I open my door to step out, he just starts stabbing me."
In his GoFundMe post, the DoorDash driver alleges that he was stabbed "at least 10 times."
Fort Worth Police told the Star-Telegram that they arrived at the scene just before 3 a.m.
Oltmanns had sustained cuts to his face, and his car — a 2024 Toyota Camry, per Fox 4 — had been stolen, police told the Star-Telegram. Medical personnel treated the man at the scene for his injuries.
In a photo shared on GoFundMe, Oltmanns showed that his face and clothes had been bloodied in the incident.
"[I] genuinely thought I was going to die, it was so much blood. I walked in Waffle House, and they were freaking out. I mean, I'm sure it's probably a traumatic thing for anyone to watch," Oltmanns told Fox 4. "Most of the stab wounds, like to the body, weren't really too bad, it was just when he stabbed me in the face that it was really bad."

Police told the Star-Telegram that Cartwright was later arrested on the 2400 block of Meacham Boulevard. Oltmanns' car was recovered, the delivery driver told Fox 4.
"He definitely hit something pretty good, and it's messed up the wheel," Oltmanns told the outlet, referring to the damage to his car.
"I can't tell you how many times I've been asked for money by homeless people or just people out on the streets, and typically, good nature is just to want to do a good thing for them. But I learned that night you've got to be very careful about who you're willing to help out because sometimes they will take advantage of that good nature," he added.
Tarrant County court records viewed by PEOPLE show that Cartwright was charged with aggravated robbery and is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.

Wanted man arrested for reckless driving, other charges in Mt. Juliet after making DoorDash delivery

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A DoorDash driver is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop for speeding in Mt. Juliet Saturday night reportedly led to the discovery of drugs, as well as an outstanding warrant. According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, an officer spotted a Jeep Renegade 'flying down' Interstate 40 West, going 93 mph in a 70 mph zone, on Saturday, June 7. However, after the vehicle was safely stopped, law enforcement realized this wasn't a simple speeding case. Several injured after skydiving plane crashes in Tullahoma 'The driver—a 34-year-old man from Nashville—had just dropped off a DoorDash delivery and was still in a rush, driving recklessly and endangering others on the road,' officials said. The MJPD said the officer discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant out of Nashville for violation of probation, which was tied to a felony aggravated assault conviction. In addition, the man was reportedly driving on a revoked license. Then, when authorities searched the vehicle, they said they found five chalky blue pills — suspected to be pressed fentanyl — hidden in a cigarette pack. Law enforcement said they arrested the driver, who now faces charges for reckless driving, driving on a revoked license, possession of fentanyl, and the outstanding warrant. Marine vet fighting for his life, paralyzed after being shot by illegal migrant who had been arrested and released 4 times

A Marine Corps veteran from Texas is fighting for his life after a serial recidivist illegal migrant allegedly shot him while he was working as a security guard. And his outraged family says the Democratic District Attorney in San Antonio is soft-peddling the charges after letting his attacker walk free following four prior arrests. Jimmy Friesenhahn, 44, who survived multiple overseas deployments including to Iraq during his 14 years in the Marines, is now paralyzed and can no longer speak. GoFundMe He was working at the El Patio Sports Bar, when he spotted a man apparently carrying a handgun in his pocket and tried to confiscate it, his brother-in-law Emmanuel Martinez told The Post. The customer, identified by cops as Wilmer Vladmir Ortega Ruiz, 29, refused to give up the pistol and they fought over it. Advertisement Friesenhahn was shot three times, twice in the bulletproof vest and once through the neck. Friesenhahn, who is the father of a five-month-old baby girl, was left with a complete spinal injury, along with a ruptured esophagus and vocal cords. 5 The customer, identified by cops as Wilmer Vladmir Ortega Ruiz, 29, refused to give up the pistol. Bexar County Jail He has undergone six surgeries and is still clinging to life, but the prognosis has worsened, Martinez said. Advertisement 'Jimmy's sacrifice saved people because there's stories that the guy was going to go inside and do something in that place,' Martinez said in an emotional interview. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Ortega Ruiz on May 4. But this wasn't his first rodeo. 5 Friesenhahn was shot three times, twice in the bulletproof vest and once through the neck. GoFundMe Ortego Ruiz was first arrested in San Antonio and charged with a DWI in October 2020, according to court records. He was let go on a personal recognizance bond, but failed to show in court. Advertisement The Bexar County District Attorney's office then downgraded the DWI charge to obstructing a passageway. Ortega Ruiz pleaded guilty to that charge, but violated the terms of his probation and was arrested for a second time in August 2023. He was let go again after posting a $1,500 bond amount and failed to show up in court for a later hearing. 5 He has undergone six surgeries and is still clinging to life, but the prognosis has worsened. GoFundMe The illegal migrant got collared a third time in September 2023 and bonded out for $1,500, again failing to show in court at a later hearing. He was then arrested for a fourth time in November 2024 and sentenced to time served nearly three weeks later. Ortega Ruiz was also allegedly the center of an assault investigation in which his girlfriend reported he physically attacked her, but he had fled the scene before cops arrived, law enforcement sources told The Post. Law enforcement sources said he sneaked into the country as a 'got away.' Advertisement 5 Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a detainer on Ortega Ruiz on May 4. GoFundMe Meanwhile, the Bexar County District Attorney's office has only pursued aggravated assault charges against Ortego Ruiz and set his bond amount at $200,000 in his latest alleged offense. And the victim's family is outraged, calling the repeated lax prosecution 'a huge slap in the face.' Advertisement 'That's attempted murder, that's not aggravated assault,' said Friesenhahn's tearful sister, Evangelina Borjon. 'It's ridiculous the way the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the DA, the Bexar County judges, the whole justice system here is not caring and letting this guy off time after time,' said Martinez. The DA's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Israel says it found body of Hamas chief Mohammed al-Sinwar in tunnel

The Israeli military on Sunday said it had located the remains of Hamas military leader Mohammed al-Sinwar in an underground tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip. Al-Sinwar, the brother of former Hamas leader Yehya al-Sinwar who was also killed by Israel, was killed along with the commander of the Rafah Brigade, Mohammed Sabaneh, in an attack on May 13, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a post on its Telegram channel. The two had been hiding in an underground command and control centre belonging to the Palestinian Islamist Hamas group, it said. The Islamist group has not confirmed Mohammed al-Sinwar's death. The Israeli military said their remains, along with various personal items, were found beneath the European Hospital in Khan Younis. Israel has repeatedly said that Hamas uses civilian facilities like hospitals and schools, as cover for its operations - which Hamas denies. "Additional bodies of terrorists were located during the operation, their identities are currently under examination," the statement added. The IDF showed the tunnel to several journalists on Sunday, including a dpa photojournalist and also posted a video of soldiers dragging a corpse wrapped in white out of the tunnel on its Telegram channel. The military said it was very far underground, in the immediate vicinity of the clinic. The dpa photographer described a strong smell of decay in the air, and said the floor was covered in worms. In one room, which had apparently been used as a dormitory, there were many blankets on the floor. He said no technical equipment or similar items were visible.
