The Oregon Ducks have long thought to be the leader when it comes to the recruitment of 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton, so it came as no surprise over the weekend when the No. 1 ranked player from the state of New York announced his top-seven schools and have Dan Lanning's squad in the mix.
Hampton, who the 247Sports Composite rates as the No. 100 player in the 2026 class and the No. 11 WR, put the Ducks among his top schools along with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Penn State Nittany Lions, Syracuse Orange, Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, and Miami Hurricanes.
Standing a 6-foot, 170 pounds, Hampton has some good size and projects as a high-upside player in an offense that likes to spread the ball around, as Oregon does. Earlier this month, the Ducks picked some big news, with On3's Steve Wiltfong placing a prediction for Hampton to commit to Oregon.
Oregon fans will remember well the last time Oregon landed the top-ranked player from New York, with WR Seven McGee committing to the Ducks in the class of 2021. While he played for a couple of years in Eugene, McGee ended up transferring away from Oregon after Dan Lanning's first year with the program.
Hampton, who has not yet set a commitment date, will take an official visit to Oregon on June 13.

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Evan Stewart breaks silence on knee injury

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Evan Stewart breaks silence on knee injury Oregon Duck fans got the unfortunate news earlier this week that one of their best players, senior wide receiver Evan Stewart, suffered a severe knee injury last week while going through some offseason training and would miss the majority of the upcoming season for the Ducks. Stewart was projected to be the No. 1 receiving option for the Ducks this year, having caught 48 passes for 613 yards and five touchdowns a year ago. Without his production and veteran experience on the field, Oregon's WR room got even younger. This is a devastating blow for the Ducks, who are already replacing Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden from the 2024 team and looking to a number of young and unproven players to step into significant roles. Over the weekend, Stewart took to social media for the first time and posted a photo on his Instagram story with a caption thanking fans for their well-wishes. "Thank you for all the well wishes. I'm on the road to recovery. Don't put a timeline on me. Following God's Plan! Thank you for the Prayers! - 7," posted Stewart. The part about not putting a timeline on his injury is what could turn some heads for Oregon fans. With a tear in his patellar tendon, the recovery could vary, depending on the severity. In some cases, rehab can take as little as three months, but there are some injuries that need up to a year to fully rehab. Either way, it will be interesting to see what Stewart chooses to do with his future. He has a redshirt year available to him, and can use this year to get back to full strength and return to the team in 2026. With another strong season, he is expected to be one of the top receivers in the NFL draft, whichever year he chooses to declare himself eligible. Ohio State football 2026 recruiting class commitment tracker

Ohio State football 2026 recruiting class commitment tracker Though changes like Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), and the transfer portal have changed how rosters are put together in college football these days, getting things off on the right foot with a talented recruiting class is still the baseline of building a roster. The Ohio State football program recruits at an elite level, and has for decades, and there are a few national titles to show for all the efforts. The same applies to the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and others over the last few years. Bring in the groceries to stock the shelves, cook the dinner, then supplement with other key ingredients -- that seems to be the recipe for success. We keep tabs on what Ohio State is doing with its football recruiting and keep a recruiting commitment tracker for each of OSU's classes as players commit, all the way through putting pen to paper on National Signing Day and we are doing the same for the 2026 class that is also looking like another elite one in the country. Here's a look at each of Ohio State's commitments with star and recruiting service rankings, measurables, and hometowns. We will continue to keep this tracker updated as the class takes shape, so check back often and get up to speed with where the Buckeyes' efforts go towards continuing the momentum it's had for a long, long time. Notre Dame basketball land top-60 point guard Jonathan Sanderson, son of Irish staffer

Notre Dame basketball land top-60 point guard Jonathan Sanderson, son of Irish staffer Notre Dame basketball sure has a family feel to it, and on Sunday that continued with the commitment of 2026 point guard Jonathan Sanderson. The 6-foot, 2-inch and 170-pounder is the son of new director of men's basketball strength and conditioning, Jon, is ranked as the No. 52 overall player in his class according to the 247Sports Composite. The younger Sanderson chose Notre Dame over offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and others. While it may have seemed like it was guaranteed that the father-son duo would reunite in South Bend, it wasn't the case. Sanderson clearly had other impressive offers and could have chosen any of those schools as well. It is the first commitment for head coach Micah Shrewsberry in the 2026 cycle, as the Irish had a very talented 2025 class signed headlined by Jalen Haralson, the highest ranked recruit ever to commit to Notre Dame. Hopefully another impressive class is building, and Sanderson is a step in the right direction.
