Merthyr Town FC Secures New Partner in Sponsorship Deal with Persimmon Homes

A three-season sponsorship deal has been agreed between Merthyr Town FC and Persimmon Homes.
The new agreement comes off the back of a successful 2024/25 season for the Martyrs, who secured promotion as champions of the Southern League Premier Division. The fan-owned club will now be looking to build on that momentum with the support of a prominent new partner.
The deal will see Persimmon's branding feature prominently on the terrace at Penydarren Park, and across a range of club activities over the course of three seasons, providing a vital boost to the club both on and off the pitch.
Persimmon East Wales' involvement comes on the back of its nearby Porth y Dyffryn development in Twynyrodyn.
Lee Hawker, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes East Wales, said:
'We're extremely proud to partner with Merthyr Town FC, especially at such an exciting time for the club. Their promotion is a huge achievement and reflects the spirit and determination that defines the local community.
'As a business building 121 high-quality homes for local families at our Porth y Dyffryn development in Twynyrodyn, we're committed to supporting the town's continued growth and success.
'This sponsorship reflects our long-term investment in Merthyr – not just in bricks and mortar, but in the people and places that make the town what it is.'
Matthew George, Merthyr Town FC, said:
'We are delighted to welcome Persimmon Homes as our new sponsor.
'Their commitment to a three-year partnership shows real faith in what we're building here, both on the pitch and in the community.
'After a brilliant season for everyone connected with Merthyr Town, this new relationship gives us even more to look forward to as we take our first steps in the National League North.'

Darlington FC 'still committed' to stadium move despite setbacks

A football club has said it remains committed to finding a long-term, permanent home despite difficulty Football Club admitted finding a new location was an "incredibly complex process", as it has faced multiple setbacks since revealing an ambition to move in it announced its intention to leave its Blackwell Meadows ground, the National League North side said it hoped to build a new site with additional sports, retail and hospitality executive David Johnson said the club had been discussing several potential locations. The new stadium was initially planned to be built in time for the 2024-25 season, but the project has been repeatedly delayed."This is an incredibly complex process involving many stakeholders and is therefore extremely time-consuming and unfortunately very slow-moving," Mr Johnston said. Securing Darlington FC's future Board members remained committed to finding a "long-term, permanent home to secure the future of our club", Mr Johnson are in talks with stakeholders about several possible locations, including the football club's former home, Darlington Mowden Park RFC, which currently plays at the arena, recently outlined its ambition to partner with other sports clubs to develop the site, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service."We have been discussing several options for the arena site, as well as other locations, but what we as a board are very clear on is that we cannot envisage a move back to the Darlington Arena in its current form," Mr Johnston said."The aim is to deliver a sustainable sports facility for the town, that hopefully will meet the needs of as many stakeholders as possible, but we will not enter any proposal that could jeopardise the long-term future of the football club." Attack, attack and attack as Chester start with victory

The Blues started their National League North tilt with a thrilling 3-2 home triumph against Peterborough Sports. Boss McIntyre told Chester FC TV: 'Really happy with the three points. Really pleased for the players, really pleased for the supporters. 'You work very hard during the pre-season period to be geared up for the season and part of that is the opening day, and that will be the first time in a very long time - certainly the first time in my time here - that we've taken three points from the opening day. 'Loads to be pleased about. Loved our attacking intent. Loved how we kept attacking, even right at the end, making bad decisions to try and score a fourth goal, rather than kill the game in possession. 'Says a lot about who we want to be.' It was an all-action first half in front of a crowd of 2,383 at the Deva Stadium. New signings linked up in the 20th minute for the opener, as Offrande Zanzala laid the ball into the path of Fin Roberts who slotted past Peter Crook with ease. The visitors hit back immediately through Josiah Dyer, while there was a blow for Chester when Zanzala was forced off through injury, replaced by Dylan Mottley-Henry. He made an immediate impact to head the Blues back in front, while Dyer's second of the contest made it two-apiece prior to the interval. Understandably, the second half started at a slower pace than the first and Chester had their winner in the 54th minute. Mottley-Henry took advantage of a gap in the defence to grab his second of the afternoon. McIntyre said: 'You know, the three goals at home again, it says a lot about who we want to be for the coming season. 'But, I don't like the imbalance and the trade-off of being that easy to score against.' McIntyre added: 'So, delighted with the result, delighted with seeing three points next to our name after played one. 'Really pleased with showing everything we did with the ball. All type of goals. 'But, we can't have that imbalance where we're only doing one facet of the game properly, because... at this level, you can't be easy to score against the way we were.' John Rooney began life as Macclesfield manager with a victory. Rooney, the former Wrexham and Chester midfielder, led his side to a 3-1 home triumph against Worksop. Fylde, relegated from the National League last season, started with a 3-2 success at home to Oxford City. Merthyr, newly promoted into the division, are up and running thanks to a 2-0 outcome against Southport. Other results: Bedford 2 Alfreton 2; Buxton 2 Radcliffe 1; Curzon Ashton 1 Leamington 1; Darlington 2 Chorley 3; Kidderminster 1 Scarborough 0; King's Lynn 1 Telford 1; South Shields 1 Marine 0; Spennymoor 2 Hereford 0.
