Hugh Bonneville appears to kiss estate goodbye in Downton Abbey finale trailer

The movie is promoted as bidding 'farewell' to the Yorkshire-set series about the life of the landed gentry and their servants that began with a TV show before a series of films.
It sees the return of Bonneville; Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary; Elizabeth McGovern as Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham; Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith; Jim Carter as the butler Charles 'Charlie' Carson; and Joanne Froggatt as Anna Bates.
The teaser begins with the family attending an opulent day at the races, and Mr Carson as an announcer saying: 'Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to 1930.'
The following clips show London theatrical productions, Dominic West as Guy Dexter and Lady Edith telling Lady Mary that she will be a 'sensation'.
The family then return to Downton Abbey, where a painting of Dame Maggie Smith's Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, who died in the 2022 film Downton Abbey: A New Era, is shown along with dances and the staff.
Last year, Oscar-winning actress Dame Maggie died in September at the age of 89, with Bonneville remembering her at the time as a 'true legend of her generation'.
The trailer shows the words: 'It's almost time to bid farewell' before ending with the family and staff all waiting outside the grand estate, while the Earl presses his finger to his lips and then places them on the wall.
Starting as a series in 2010, the programme won a number of awards, including 15 Emmys, with three of them going to Dame Maggie for outstanding supporting actress in a drama series.
The series, the final of which aired on TV on Christmas Day in 2015, has also won a special TV Bafta award and earned Dame Maggie a nod.
Released in 2019, the first film in the trilogy depicted a royal visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff, while the second film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, saw them travel to France after Violet inherited a villa.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will release in cinemas on September 12.

Breathtaking new film 'that needs to be seen' quietly added to Netflix

Netflix has quietly dropped a brand-new thriller described as 'harrowing' and 'riveting', and with prestigious talent involved, on its streaming platform. With surprisingly little fanfare after the keen attention on previous other Netflix Friday film releases including highly anticipated sequel Happy Gilmore 2 and rom-com obsession My Oxford Year, Night Always Comes has arrived. The movie, starring Fantastic Four actress Vanessa Kirby, is based on the best-selling novel by Willy Vlautin and follows Kirby's former sex worker Lynette, a desperate woman who risks everything to try and raise $25,000 (£ 18,432) to secure the house that represents a future for her family. The official synopsis adds: 'On a frantic a dangerous odyssey through a single night, Lynette is forced to confront her dark past in order to finally break free.' Directed by Benjamin Caron – who previously directed Kirby in her Bafta-winning role as Princess Margaret in The Crown – Night Always Comes also includes Jennifer Jason Lee as Lynette's chaotic mother, The Peanut Butter Falcon's Zack Gottsagen as her brother, Julia Fox, Lioness star Michael Kelly and Eli Roth among its cast. Caron has cited the Safdie brothers' Uncut Gems and Good Time as an influence on his film's 'breakneck momentum' according to The Guardian. Fans have expressed their excitement over watching the film this evening, with Merlin commenting on X of Kirby's performance: 'Back with a bang.' 'High stakes and Vanessa Kirby? Count me in,' added another fan. 'If the trailer has me stressed, I can't imagine the full movie,' admitted @RolandNorbertB. With reviews just starting to trickle in on its first day available on Netflix, Night Always Comes currently sits on a fresh score of 60% according to critical reactions on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. While that might be on the lower side, there are only 15 reviews uploaded there at the time of publication, which is too few for a proper consensus, and no fan reactions as of yet. 'Vanessa Kirby commands the screen in a harrowing spiral of bad choices, delivering a performance as riveting as the story is nightmarish,' praised critic Joseph Robinson of Night Always Comes, while CBR admired Oscar nominee Kirby's 'powerhouse performance'. Heaven of Horror's Karina Adelgaard went further, sharing: 'Vanessa Kirby delivers a portrayal that is nuanced, heartbreaking, intense, and absolutely breathtaking.' Meanwhile, Collider insisted Night Always Comes was 'a film that needs to be seen'. 'A decent ticking-clock thriller that relies on its amusingly sleazy underworld and a barrage of strong performances to carry its occasionally flimsy and on-the-nose storytelling,' wrote Film Feeder's Jack Martin, while The Hollywood Reporter observed: 'Netflix's Night Always Comes is more compelling than the average original streaming movie even if it could use an extra shot of emotional power.' Critic Ben Sears also highlighted the lack of publicity for Netflix's latest film, noting that it 'rises above' most of the streamer's other original movies and 'deserves more than being unceremoniously dumped on the platform'. More Trending Others weren't quite as convinced though, with IndieWire's Kate Erbland penning: 'Handsomely made but tediously plotted, Kirby is more than deserving of this kind of meaty, she's-in-every-frame role, but Night Always Comes sunsets long before we get there.' Other new releases this week included controversial adult animation Fixed, which has shocked viewers with its explicit scenes and 'raunchy dog' niche genre, while fans globally are also still lapping up pop culture sensation KPop Demon Hunters. This film recently catapulted into the most-watched list of films ever on Netflix, claiming second place with 184.6million views after just eight weeks on the platform. Night Always Comes is streaming exclusively on Netflix now. Got a story? Chris Martin surprises fans with impromptu pub gig in Calderdale

Children in their pyjamas and their parents lined up outside a small community pub in West Yorkshire last night after hearing that Chris Martin was performing an impromptu gig. The Coldplay star showed up to the Puzzle Hall Inn in Calderdale for an hour-long set before chatting and taking pictures with fans and even giving out tickets to his Hull show on Monday. One man said he woke up his two teenage daughters to tell them Martin was "down the road" and take them to the gig when he got a call to say the singer was at the Varley told the BBC: "Imagine being 17 and you like Coldplay and your dad blunders in and asks do want to go and see Chris Martin right dressed we're going in five minutes." Mr Varley, from Halifax, added: "I just bundled them in the car and got there just as he was starting."People just turned up for a drink and saw Chris Martin unloading pianos - can you believe that?" He said after the gig at the Sowerby Bridge venue, "loads of people" started arriving in cars including "kids in jim jams" to catch a glimpse of the band. "Chris was really chatty and really engaged and even put a picture on his piano that one of the customers' children had made for him. "He made a big fuss of it and said he would 'treasure it forever'."He just came across as a really nice guy and said thank you to everyone on the way out." There were only about 100 people in the audience and another fan said that after chatting to him about some local disadvantaged children, Martin gave them 10 tickets to his next show at Craven Park Stadium in Hull, the penultimate stop on his world tour. Mr Varley, who is on the board of directors for the Puzzle Hall, said the venue did have an inkling Martin would be coming but most of the punters had no idea. He added: "It would have had to be kept under wraps due to security otherwise thousands of people would have turned up."The Puzzle Hall Inn is a "real ale pub" in Sowerby Bridge that supports "local people, suppliers and independent business", according to its website. Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards reveals he's unlikely landlord to Premier League manager

MICAH RICHARDS has shocked fans with his hilarious reveal that a Premier League manager rents one of his flats in Yorkshire. Richards was taking part in a Premier League season predictions video for 'The Rest Is Football' when he dropped the bizarre fact into the conversation. 3 3 Richards was moving through the league team by team alongside co-stars Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker. When he was asked to give his opinion on newly promoted Leeds United, he revealed an unexpected relationship with manager Daniel Farke that left his co-hosts in stitches. He said: "They play some really nice football, and they have got money to spend. "I really like the manager, Daniel Farke... probably more because he rents my flat in Harrogate." 3 The response triggered raucous reactions from Shearer and Lineker. The latter even added an x-rated joke of his own, chiming in saying: "You don't give a Farke about his football do you?" Farke, 48, has been a familiar face in the upper tiers of English football for the better part of the past decade. The German arrived as Norwich boss in 2017, leading them to two Championship titles. However, he produced dismal returns in the Premier League that saw him endure a record 15 straight losses in the division before being sacked in late 2021. He was appointed Leeds manager upon their relegation in 2023 following a brief spell managing in the Bundesliga. Micah Richards forced off CBS Sports' Europa League final coverage live on air after awkward toilet emergency He narrowly missed out on promotion in 2023-24, but a better campaign at the second time of asking saw the Yorkshire outfit top last season's Championship table. Richards, who started his career in the academy system at the club, added that he fancies them to stay up this season. He said: "They're gonna find it hard at times, but they have got enough quality to stay up. "I am going to say they will just avoid relegation." Leeds are among the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season, alongside fellow new arrivals Burnley and Sunderland.
