Manchester United make big Chido Obi transfer decision
Manchester United have made a significant decision on the future of Chido Obi amidst suggestions he could be headed out on loan. Obi's breakthrough at United Obi has enjoyed a stunning rise at senior level since ditching Arsenal for United last summer. He was initially made to play for the youth teams but he didn't have to wait long to make his first-team debut for United. The striker made his senior bow in February as he come on as a late substitute during a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Obi didn't score for United in 2024/25, although he netted twice in a post-friendly victory over Hong Kong. He travelled with the first team to the US for their pre-season tour and he is expected to have a role in Ruben Amorim's plans for the upcoming campaign. However, a recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Obi is attracting loan interest from INEOS-owned OGC Nice. It was stated that the French outfit want him for an entire campaign. Now, United's stance on the situation has come to light. United make Obi transfer decision According to the Daily Mail's Nathan Salt, United currently have no plans to sanction a loan exit for Obi before the close of the summer transfer window. Salt reveals, 'Question marks have been swirling in academy circles as to whether the £73.7m arrival of Benjamin Sesko extinguishes all hope of Chido Obi seeing game time this season.' 'But with Rasmus Hojlund's exit being accelerated, club insiders have told Daily Mail Sport that there are currently no plans to push Obi out on loan.' 'Limited minutes mean the door isn't totally closed if a compelling opportunity arises late in the window but the expectation as of today is that Obi remains with the first team group to continue developing in house.' United are back in action on Sunday when they take on Arsenal in their Premier League opener. Featured image Richard Heathcote via Getty Images online polls Follow us on Bluesky: @

ESPN, Fox team up for bundled streaming service in October
Aug. 11 (UPI) --Disney's ESPN and Fox Corp. on Monday announced the two rivals are joining forces to offer a streaming service to consumers as a bundle for $39 per month. The two media giants announced the service but last week ESPN and Fox each announced separate all-in-one streaming apps. The services can be downloaded on devices, including cellphones and tablets, and can be accessed on smart TVs and gaming consoles. With viewership declining on TV, including cable, media companies have turned to streaming services as a way to boost viewership and revenue. CNBC reported that sports is a way to accomplish this. Last week, both companies announced their services -- ESPN's Direct to Consumer Unlimited Offering and Fox One -- will launch on Aug. 21 before the college football and NFL seasons. But the bundle won't be available until October. ESPN's separate service will cost $29.99 month and Fox's will be $19.99. Also, ESPN will offer a bundle with Disney's other streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, for $35.99 per month. Besides events, both companies present sports news. The ESPN service will include live sports and programming from its TV networks, including ESPN2, the SEC Network, the ACC Network, as well as Disney-owned ABC. ESPN also reached an agreement last week with the NFL to acquire the NFL Network, including the Red Zone. And ESPN last week signed a deal with the WWW for U.S. rights in 2026 to its biggest wrestling events, including WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble and SummerSlam. In all, ESPN/ABC cover 47,000 live events each year, as well as studio shows and original programming. ESPN and ABC sports include Monday Night Football, college football and basketball, NHL, NBA, Major League Soccer, golf, tennis and motorsports. In addition, an enhanced app will integrate game statistics, betting information, fantasy sports, multi-view options and a "personalize SportsCenter For You," the company said. Fox's parent company offers Tubi and Fox Nation. Fox's sports networks include FS1, FS2 and the Big Ten Network. The company said Fox One won't have original content. Last week, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Disney CEO Bob Iger said during earnings calls that they were considering offering bundle services. Fox Sports' coverage includes NFL, college football and basketball, Major League Baseball, FIFA World Cup, Major League Soccer, motorsports, WNBA, LIV Golf and boxing. Three other media companies offer sports: Comcast's NBC, Warner Bros. Discovery's TNT and Paramount Skydance's CBS. NBC, which has the rights to the Olympics, has Peacock streaming, and CBS offers Paramount+, services that include sports. TNT doesn't have a specific app but its services can be bundles with other apps. On Monday, Paramount announced plans to televise UFC events starting next year. Copyright 2025 UPI News Corporation. ESPN, Fox to bundle upcoming streaming services for $39.99 a month
Disney's ESPN and Fox Corp. are teaming up to offer their upcoming direct-to-consumer streaming services as a bundle, the companies said Monday. The move comes as media companies look to nab more consumers for their streaming alternatives, and draw them in with sports, in particular. Last week, both companies announced additional details about the new streaming options. ESPN's streaming service — which has the same name as the TV network — and Fox's Fox One will each launch on Aug. 21, ahead of the college football and NFL seasons. The bundled apps, however, will be available beginning Oct. 2 for $39.99 per month. Separately, ESPN and Fox One will cost $29.99 and $19.99 a month, respectively. While the bundle will offer sports fans a bigger offering at a discounted rate, the streaming services are not exactly the same. ESPN's flagship service will be an all-in-one app that includes all of its live sports and programming from its TV networks, including ESPN2 and the SEC Network, as well as ESPN on Disney-owned ABC. The app will also have fantasy products, new betting tie-ins, studio programming and documentaries. ESPN will also offer its app as a bundle with Disney's other streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, for $35.99 a month. That Disney bundle will cost a discounted $29.99 a month for the first 12 months — the same price as the stand-alone app. Last week, ESPN further beefed up the content on its streaming app when it inked a deal with the WWE for the U.S. rights to the wrestling league's biggest live events, including WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble and SummerSlam, beginning in 2026. The sports media giant also reached an agreement with the NFL that will see ESPN acquire the NFL Network and other media assets from the league. The Fox One service, however, will be a bit different. Fox had been on the sidelines of direct-to-consumer streaming for years after its competitors launched their platforms. Just this year, it said it would offer all of its content — including news and entertainment — from its broadcast and pay TV networks in a streaming offering. Fox One won't have any exclusive or original content. Fox's move into the direct-to-consumer streaming game — outside of its Fox Nation app and the free, ad-supported streamer Tubi — came after it abandoned its efforts to launch Venu, a joint sports streaming venture with Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery. Both Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Disney CEO Bob Iger said during separate earnings calls last week that they were exploring bundling options with other services. Since Fox announced the Fox One app, Murdoch has said the company would lean into bundles with other streaming services. 'Announcing ESPN as our first bundle partner is evidence of our desire to deliver the best possible value and viewing experience to our shared customers,' said Tony Billetter, SVP of strategy and business development for FOX's direct to consumer segment, in a release on Monday.
