Conor McGregor needs to 'die and be born again,' says Ilia Topuria on JRE
UFC featherweight-turned-lightweight Ilia Topuria did not hold back when asked about the future of Conor McGregor. Appearing on Joe Rogan's podcast, Topuria and the veteran UFC commentator shared concerns about McGregor's prolonged absence from the Octagon and his off-the-cage lifestyle.
'If I had a bet, no,' said Rogan when asked about a possible return. 'If he really wanted to, he would have been back in the gym, had a fight scheduled, drug tested, clean, training, gone through a camp, had a fight.'
McGregor's last scheduled bout, against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, fell through reportedly due to a broken toe. Rogan acknowledged the injury but questioned the Irishman's follow-through.
'Heal that toe. It's two months. But he didn't,' Rogan said. 'Constant partying. All these legal problems. Scooting around on yachts, driving Lamborghinis. He's wealthy.'
Topuria added a blunt assessment of McGregor's current condition. 'His toe is f*****, his chin is f*****, his body is f*****,' he said.
'With that much parties and drugs and all that, you're gonna have to pay that price at some point… You are paying the price with your health which is the dumbest thing you can do in your entire life," said Topuria.
Topuria, undefeated and fresh off a move to the lightweight division, has his eyes set on a title bout against Islam Makhachev. While comparisons to a younger McGregor persist, the Georgian-Spanish fighter made one thing clear: he considers his discipline and focus far superior.
When discussing a potential matchup with McGregor, Topuria made one of the most biting remarks yet. 'It depends on who he is gonna face. Because if you put him against me, he needs to die and be born again.'
While McGregor's name still draws headlines, figures like Rogan and Topuria now see his once-inevitable comeback as increasingly unlikely — unless he radically transforms both his health and commitment to fighting.

Taylor Swift helps New Heights dethrone Joe Rogan on Spotify
The New Heights podcast, hosted by NFL brothers Jason and Travis Kelce, has claimed the No. 1 spot on Spotify's charts after its highly anticipated episode featuring Taylor Swift — overtaking The Joe Rogan Experience. On August 12, the hosts teased a mystery guest for their return episode, later revealing Swift as the special guest. Released on August 13, the episode included Swift announcing her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, which quickly went viral across social media. According to Spotify's Podcast Charts, New Heights secured the top position in three categories: Top Episodes, Trending Podcasts, and the Sports subgenre. In the overall trending rankings, it surpassed The Joe Rogan Experience, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, and The Mel Robbins Podcast. In sports, it beat Pardon My Take, The Bill Simmons Podcast, and Fantasy Footballers. The momentum extended beyond Spotify. On TikTok, Swift's album reveal clip gained over 8 million views, with thousands of fan comments. A tracklist reveal clip earned similar numbers. On YouTube, the video version has been viewed over 15 million times, with fans speculating it could challenge the Guinness World Record for the most-watched podcast episode, currently just over 110 million views. This is not the first time a Kelce-led project has unseated Joe Rogan. In 2024, Jason Kelce's wife, Kylie, debuted her podcast Not Gonna Lie, which also took the top spot after one episode. With Swift's global fanbase and the Kelce brothers' rising popularity, New Heights has firmly established itself as a podcast powerhouse.

Alcaraz eases past Medjedovic in Cincinnati
Carlos Alcaraz serves against Hamad Medjedovic during the Cincinnati Open. Photo: REUTERS Carlos Alcaraz beat Hamad Medjedovic 6-4 6-4 to reach the Cincinnati Open last 16 on Tuesday, battling the sweltering Ohio heat to notch a tour-leading 50th victory of the season before the evening session was suspended due to rain. The Spanish second seed also secured his 13th consecutive win at an ATP Masters 1000 tournament, converting three of seven break points in a deliberate, slow-paced contest. Treated for neck pain after the first set, Serbia's Medjedovic ramped up in the second to shorten rallies, out-hitting Alcaraz 2516 on winners but committing 38 unforced errors to the Spaniard's 18. "I know he's a really powerful player," Alcaraz said. "His shots are incredibly hard to return. He has a big serve also. I know he doesn't like to run too much from side to side, so my plan was to make him run as much as I could." Monte Carlo and Rome champion Alcaraz next faces Italian Luca Nardi as he continues his bid for an eight Masters 1000 title. Earlier, Andrey Rublev rallied from a set down to edge Alexei Popyrin 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 7-5 in a fierce 3-1/2-hour battle. The Russian ninth seed will play against Argentine Franciso Comesana, who claimed a stunning 6-7(4) 6-4 7-5 win over American Reilly Opelka. In the women's draw, second seed Coco Gauff advanced after Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska withdrew from their third-round clash due to illness. The American will face Lucia Bronzetti, who beat 23rd seed Jelena Ostapenko 1-6 6-3 6-4. It marked the second third-round walkover, following fellow Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk's withdrawal before her match against Polish third seed Iga Swiatek. The Wimbledon champion will take on Romanian Sorana Cirstea in the round of 16. In the evening session, men's third seed Alexander Zverev and women's fourth seed Jessica Pegula were forced off the court mid-match due to rain and the threat of lightning. The suspension was particularly frustrating for Zverev, who had a 6-4 5-4 lead in his match against American Brandon Nakashima and was about to serve for the win. Pegula rallied to take the second set 6-3 in her meeting with Magda Linette, leaving their match all square after the Pole won the first 7-6(5). Canadian Open winner Ben Shelton's match with Roberto Bautista Agut and Dane Clara Tauson's match with Veronika Kudermetova were both moved to Wednesday. Tuesday's rain-enforced suspension was the latest in a string of interruptions at the Cincinnati Open this week. On Monday, Jannik Sinner's win over Gabriel Diallo was delayed by a fire alarm before the players continued through the noise. There was also a one-hour delay due to a power outage.

WATCH: Leonardo DiCaprio searched by police at Ibiza party after going unrecognized
Leonardo DiCaprio was momentarily held up by police while attending a party in Ibiza after officers reportedly failed to recognize the Oscar-winning actor. A video obtained by the Daily Mail shows the 50-year-old actor dressed in an all-black outfit, wearing his signature baseball cap and chain, waiting to be searched by local authorities before entering a high-profile tequila party. The incident occurred as DiCaprio attended an event hosted by Patrón and Spanish singer-actor Aron Piper at a private villa. According to Page Six, a source clarified that DiCaprio was not specifically targeted. 'Every single person was patted down and ID'd,' the insider said, noting that the event attracted several well-known figures. The source added, 'It's funny, they did a double take and then he went in!' In the background of the video, a woman can be heard commenting, 'They are searching me full-on right now.' While it's unclear if she was DiCaprio's girlfriend, 27-year-old Italian model Vittoria Ceretti, she was reportedly in Ibiza with him at the time. Other celebrities at the exclusive gathering included Kendall Jenner and Tobey Maguire, DiCaprio's longtime friend. However, rapper Travis Scott was reportedly denied entry, according to the Daily Mail. DiCaprio is a frequent visitor to Ibiza and was recently seen vacationing aboard Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's yacht with Ceretti. The couple, who have been linked since summer 2023, also attended Bezos and Sánchez's wedding in Venice earlier this year. In a Vogue France interview from March, Ceretti expressed frustration over being primarily recognized as DiCaprio's partner, saying such labels can be 'extremely annoying' and reduce one's identity to their relationship status.
