Khris Middleton on Wizards: I think this team could definitely be a playoff team
If you're here next season in Washington, what do you foresee with this young core? Khris Middleton: I think this team could definitely be a playoff team. I think we had a stretch recently where we were competing against some of the playoff teams in some games, where we won some games and lost some others. I think if you give us a full offseason and give us a full season together, with the improvement of the young core, which is going to be huge, I think they can take a big step because of the way they work, how talented they are, and how smart they are.

After the trade from Milwaukee, did you still want to show you can score and make clutch shots? What feelings did you have? Khris Middleton: I'm always going to have the utmost confidence in myself, but work like I'm one of the worst players. I don't like using the phrase chip on my shoulder, but there is a bit of confidence in me wherever I go and a belief in myself that I can get back to where I was. -via HoopsHype / March 28, 2025

Twins place Royce Lewis on injured list, Byron Buxton leaves game with elbow injury
HOUSTON (AP) — The Minnesota Twins placed third baseman Royce Lewis on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain. Also on Saturday, center fielder Byron Buxton left the game against the Astros in the seventh inning with a bruised left elbow after being hit by a pitch an inning earlier. Lewis was injured running to first base on a single in the ninth inning of Friday night's 10-3 loss to Houston and had an MRI on Saturday. A team spokesman announced the move during Saturday's game and said they'd have more information after the game. The injury to Lewis comes after he missed the first 35 games of the season with a moderate strain of the same hamstring that occurred running out a ground ball in spring training. Lewis, the first overall pick in the 2017 draft, has been plagued by injuries in his career. He played just 82 games last season while missing time with a severe quadriceps strain and a groin injury. Those injuries came after he tore the ACL in his right knee in both 2021 and 2022. Lewis, who homered Friday night, is hitting .202 with two home runs and nine RBIs in 30 games this season. Houston starter Hunter Brown plunked Buxton on the left elbow to start the sixth inning. He was looked at by a trainer but remained in the game before being replaced in center field by Harrison Bader in the bottom of the seventh. ___

Dolphins' Bradley Chubb 'not taking anything for granted' in return
Dolphins' Bradley Chubb 'not taking anything for granted' in return Dolphins linebacker Bradley Chubb is gearing up to make his long-awaited return to the field since suffering a torn ACL in Week 17 of the 2023 season which forced him to miss all of last year. The timing of Chubb's injury was even more significant considering he was putting together his best statistical season since his rookie year. Chubb totaled career bests with 73 tackles and six forced fumbles along with 11 sacks (just one short of his career best of 12). On Wednesday, Chubb expressed gratitude in returning to being a leader on the field wearing the orange jersey. 'It was cool, man. It was dope, just to see all the work come to light. Still got a long way to go in terms of perfecting my craft but working towards it each and every day. Putting my head down, getting the work in and to see that get acknowledged was dope,' Chubb said. It has been a long road to recovery for Chubb. There was some speculation during last season that Chubb could return at some point. But his injury didn't heal fast enough, and the team spent the majority of the season with bleak playoff hopes. So, trying to rush Chubb back didn't make a lot of sense. There was some doubt as to if Chubb would remain a Dolphin going into this season considering their cap issues. But, Chubb fortunately agreed to a contract restructure and will get a chance to return to his elite play. He will join forces with fellow edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson. This group will be a tough challenge for any offense next season. 'I'm not taking anything for granted man," said Chubb. "When you're actually just putting in that blood, sweat and tears with the guys, that's how you bond, that's how you connect. So sitting back last year, yeah, I could try to lead from the back, but it just wasn't the same. "Just being able to be out here, running around and physically getting up on guys, dapping them up like, 'Good job, I'm about to go do the same thing.' That just brings a different energy, a different tone and that's what I tried to do this year, this whole offseason, just let guys know that this is not promised and each and every day you've got to earn it. God is fortunate enough to put us in this position, so we've just got to take advantage of it.' Chubb is entering his seventh year in the league and third with the Dolphins. He has been a starter since his rookie year and been named to the pro bowl twice. In his first six years, Chubb has totaled 256 tackles, 45 tackles for loss 39.5 sacks, 92 QB hits, and 13 forced fumbles. His unfortunate injury history has held him back from fully reaching his potential. Chubb has an excellent chance this season to show the Dolphins and the entire NFL that he is one of the elite edge rushing linebackers in all of football.

WNBA Fans' Reaction to 3-Time All-Star Award Winner Grabs Attention
WNBA Fans' Reaction to 3-Time All-Star Award Winner Grabs Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This weekend was a homecoming of sorts for one Atlanta Dream veteran forward. After eight seasons with the Connecticut Sun, forward Brionna Jones signed a deal with the Dream before the 2025 WNBA season. On Friday night, she returned to Mohegan Sun Arena to face her former team. Advertisement Before the game, Jones received a standing ovation from the Sun crowd. "Jones gets a well-deserved round of applause in her return to Connecticut," posted the league's official X account. Several social media users shared the excitement and gushed over Jones' return to Connecticut. "What a moment!" one user posted. "CT fans are the best," wrote a Sun fan on X. "We're not the most rowdy, but we love all our current and former players. And we let them know!" "Welcome back, Brionna! Great to see her shine in Connecticut," wrote someone else, as another netizen shared a heart emoji. Another social media user simply posted two clapping emojis. Atlanta Dream forward Brionna Jones© David Butler II-Imagn Images Jones didn't start a single game for the Sun during her first three seasons. But she slowly grew into a star over the next half a decade. Advertisement In 2021, her fifth season in Connecticut, Jones made her first All-Star team and won the WNBA's Most Improved Player award. During 2022, she made the All-Star team again and captured the WNBA's Sixth Player of the Year honor. Jones made her third All-Star team in 2024. Interestingly, her best statistical season with the Sun arguably came in 2023, which is the only season of the past four where she didn't make the All-Star team. During 2023, Jones averaged a career-best 15.9 points and 8.2 rebounds. The Sun spoiled her homecoming, upsetting the Dream 84-76 on Friday night. Jones registered seven points and six rebounds with one turnover. Advertisement In her first eight games with the Dream this season, Jones has posted 13 points and 8.9 rebounds with 2.4 assists per game.
