Today's NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Wednesday, August 20th
It's the middle of the week, Odin's Day, a day for mischief and mysticism. A day for clever puzzle solving. A day for crosswords. Let's solve this one, shall we? Time is wasting . . . . Looking for yesterday's NYT Mini Crossword? Check out our hints and answers right here. The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it's free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you'll need the app to tackle the archive. Spoilers ahead! How To Solve Today's Mini Crossword Before we get to the answers, here's the first letter for each word in today's Mini. Across Something worn by an infant or marathon runner – B Diversion on a long flight – M Phobos and Deimos, for Mars – M Join highway traffic – M Coloring for a camp shirt – D Down Loudly voiced one's disapproval – B Material in walrus tusks – I Experience four seasons in one day, say? – B 'Delicious!' – M Opposite of WNW – E Okay, onto the answers! Remember, spoilers ahead! Across 1A: BIB – Something worn by an infant or marathon runner 4A: MOVIE – Diversion on a long flight 6A: MOONS – Phobos and Deimos, for Mars 7A: MERGE – Join highway traffic 8A: DYE – Coloring for a camp shirt Down 1D: BOOED – Loudly voiced one's disapproval 2D: IVORY – Material in walrus tusks 3D: BIBBS – Experience four seasons in one day, say? (This is a pun: referencing 'wardrobe changes,' i.e., changing bibs like outfits — a bit of a stretch) 4D: MMM – "Delicious!" 5D: ESE – Opposite of WNW This one wasn't too bad, though when I saw the marathon runner / baby question my immediate reaction was DIAPER because, well, some marathon runners do wear diapers for their runs. When you gotta go, you gotta go. But that didn't fit. BIB did. My gut reaction to Phobos and Deimos was WIVES also, because I was thinking of gods, not planets, but it was MOONS. From here, everything was pretty straightforward, though I put in BOOES at first and had to go change that to BOOED in order to finish the puzzle. This one took me 1:19. How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Car Crashes Into Food Influencers Through Restaurant Window While They Were Filming
Two vloggers are recovering after a car crashed into the restaurant where they were filming a food review. Patrick Blackwood and Nina Santiago were about 10 minutes into their review of CuVee's Culinary Creations in Houston on Aug. 16, when they caught the terrifying moment on video. The two posted the full incident on their YouTube channel two days later, showing them biting into their food as a car crashes into the window near their booth. Patrick appears to be sitting closest to the window and was covered with shattered glass as Nina is seen falling out of her seat. After looking around, Patrick then helps Nina get up from the floor as they walk away. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the female driver claimed she thought she put her black SUV in park outside of the restaurant and after releasing her foot off the brake, the vehicle rolled into the building. The sheriff's office says the two people inside the booth were injured and taken to a local hospital. Nina and Patrick documented their journey in the ambulance and at the hospital on video, showing some of the scratches on their faces, chins and arms. They were also visibly shaken when recounting the crash on camera. Solve the daily Crossword

Demolition begins at closed movie theater in west Las Vegas valley
UPDATE: This story has been updated with new information on the plans for the building. LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Demolition work has started inside the closed Village Square movie theater at West Sahara Avenue and South Fort Apache Road. A permit for the work was approved this month. The theater closed in 2023, one of the about 40 Regal Cinema locations that shut down following the company's bankruptcy in late 2022. In April, the Las Vegas Planning Commission approved plans to transform the space into apartments, but plans have changed in the four months since then. A leasing agent involved with the property told 8 News Now that new tenants in the building will include a 20,000-square-foot climbing gym and a barbecue restaurant. Other tenants haven't been revealed yet. Workers are gutting the building now. Stadium seating, a concession stand, movie screens, sound systems and walls that don't support the structure are coming down along with everything on the walls — a 'grey shell demo/remodel.' Bill Bayne, the owner of the building, said in April that he was still exploring options. Village Square is on the northwest corner of Sahara and Fort Apache, and the theater is set back from the road with a large parking area and parking behind the building that borders the Broadstone Talavera apartment complex.
