Man City boss Guardiola wants to keep Tottenham target Savinho
Guardiola knows Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is interested in Savinho after the departure of Son Heung-min and a long-term injury to James Maddison.
City goalkeeper Ederson has been linked with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray after Guardiola re-signed the club's former youth academy graduate James Trafford from Burnley in the close season.
Ahead of Saturday's Premier League opener at Wolves, the City manager insisted neither Savinho nor fellow Brazilian Ederson had told him they wanted to move on.
"If they want to leave, they will come to me. If they want to leave, they will knock on my door," he told reporters on Friday.
Savinho, who made 48 appearances for City in his debut campaign last term, has been criticised for a lack of cutting edge.
And while Guardiola is keen to retain the 21-year-old, he stopped short of guaranteeing he would still be at the club when the transfer window closes in September.
"I don't know. Tottenham or any other club who wants a player should call the club," he said.
"I am only concerned right now that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season and hopefully many, many years because at 21 years old, with the potential he has, he plays a lot of minutes.
"He has to improve in the final decisions but he is an extraordinary player. Otherwise he would not have played more than 3,000 minutes last season.
"But in the end the desire of the players is above everything. Then they have to find an agreement with the club. If they don't make an agreement, the player will be here because the club spent money on that player."
Guardiola also revealed Savinho will be sidelined for "a few weeks" with an injury sustained in last week's pre-season friendly against Palermo.
City's midfield talisman Rodri, who missed most of last season with a serious knee injury, is expected to travel to Wolves despite a fitness setback.
Rodri's latest injury issue has raised doubts about his durability for the gruelling Premier League campaign and Guardiola admitted City have to careful in managing the 29-year-old's fitness.
"Rodri is so close to coming back but it is important his knee is perfect," he said.
"He needs to play minutes in training sessions.
"What we want for him is not to come back and step back. That would not be good because in this dynamic you cannot get rhythm. This competition is so demanding."
Guardiola has been keen to reduce his squad to avoid unhappy players sitting on the bench and this week he allowed England winger Jack Grealish to join Everton.
Grealish was instrumental in City's treble-winning campaign in 2023, but struggled over the last two seasons amid talk of excessive partying off the pitch.
"I wish him all the best at a traditional club like Everton and hopefully he can play, play, and play," Guardiola said.
Another player who could depart is James McAtee, who is close to finalising a move to Nottingham Forest.
"I would love to have Macca but I have too many players," Guardiola said.

Scott Parker's team conceded only 16 goals in the second tier, setting an English Football League record. Tottenham's ruthless finishing showed Burnley will need more than defensive resilience to avoid an immediate return to the Championship. While Postecoglou was criticised for his refusal to change his attacking philosophy during his turbulent two-year Tottenham reign. Frank is an arch pragmatist. The 51-year-old plays the percentages with a focus on set-pieces and a willingness to use long-ball tactics, but this was far more than just a route one victory. Frank was given a warm reception by Tottenham fans before kick-off and he responded with a wave to all four sides of the ground. The Dane admitted he would feel nervous during his home debut, but Lucas Bergvall almost eased that anxiety in the first minute with a strike that forced a good save from Martin Dubravka. It took just 10 minutes for Richarlison to give Frank the perfect welcome present. Mohammed Kudus, signed from West Ham in the close season, whipped over a tempting cross and Richarlison finished with aplomb, spinning to fire past Dubravka. After scoring just five times last season, it was a much-needed boost for the former Everton forward. Tottenham went into their shell for a while and Josh Laurent nearly punished them with a long-range drive that flashed just wide. Richarlison had a chance to double Tottenham's lead but his initial shot was blocked by Maxime Esteve before his follow-up was saved by Dubravka. Undeterred, Richarlison struck in stunning styte in the 60th minute. Kudus was the provider with a pin-point cross. Richarlison launched himself into the air for a spectacular bicycle kick that whistled into the net from 10 yards. Tottenham's Mathys Tel came on to applause in the second half after he was racially abused on social media for a missed penalty against PSG. Johnson wrapped up Frank's maiden win in the 66th minute as he slotted home from Pape Sarr's pass.

Soccer-Isak's absence overshadows Newcastle's opening draw with Villa
BIRMINGHAM, England (Reuters) -Newcastle United dominated possession but could not convert their chances in a scoreless Premier League draw at 10-man Aston Villa on Saturday, with Eddie Howe's visitors missing striker Alexander Isak, who wants to leave the club. Newcastle held by 10-man Villa after Konsa sees red
BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom: Newcastle got a worrying glimpse of life without Alexander Isak as they were held to a 0-0 draw in their Premier League opener at Aston Villa despite Ezri Konsa's dismissal. Villa defender Konsa was sent off for a professional foul on Anthony Gordon midway through the second half on Saturday. But Newcastle were unable to take advantage in a toothless display that showed why they are so desperate to keep hold of Isak. The Sweden striker was not involved against Villa after reportedly telling the club he wants to leave St James' Park to join Premier League champions Liverpool. Isak, 25, was the subject of a rejected £110 million (US$149 million) bid from Liverpool earlier in August. Isak, who helped Newcastle secure Champions League qualification and end their 56-year trophy drought last season, is reportedly refusing to train or play in an effort to force his way out of the club he joined from Real Sociedad in 2022. He did not take part in Newcastle's pre-season tour, training alone at his former club Sociedad instead. Isak has three years remaining on his Newcastle contract and it is understood he will be fined for missing a competitive match this weekend. Gordon led the line in Isak's absence as the England winger started out of position in the centre of Newcastle's three-man attack. Anthony Elanga made his Newcastle debut after the winger's £55 million (US$74 million) move from Nottingham Forest, while Malick Thiaw, a defender signed from AC Milan, was among the substitutes. Without Isak to power their attack, Newcastle were unable to make their territorial dominance count as Howe was left hoping for a swift resolution to the transfer saga, which could run until the window closes in September. Villa boss Unai Emery could take heart from his team's backs to the wall effort after Konsa's exit. Emery had admitted it was a "challenging" transfer window after his club were constrained by Premier League profit and sustainability rules, leaving them with just two new signings. Marco Bizot, recruited from Brest, made his debut in goal in the absence of the suspended Emiliano Martinez, while Evann Guessand, a striker signed from Rennes, was on the bench. Elanga wasted a golden opportunity for a debut goal after sprinting through on goal for a shot that was repelled by Bizot. Villa finally tested Newcastle keeper Nick Pope through Boubacar Kamara's header immediately after the interval. But Emery's men were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute after Elanga's superb pass sent Gordon bearing down on goal, provoking a despairing tug from Konsa that sent the England star crashing to the turf and earned the defender a red card.
