These made-in-Canada cleaning products are eco-friendly, efficacious and tariff-free.
"Made in Canada" grocery staples are often clearly labelled. Cleaning supplies? Not so much. With U.S. President Donald Trump continually changing his stance on tariffs, many Canadians are looking for domestic alternatives to American products, including those found in our cleaning cabinets.
There are a ton of homegrown businesses that offer effective — and oftentimes eco-friendly — alternatives to big-name American cleaning brands. If you're in the habit of buying all-purpose cleaners from U.S. brands like Lysol and Mr. Clean, you might be interested in made-in-Canada alternatives from Guests on Earth or Liquid Earth, for example. Tru Earth and Good Juju are fantastic places to find laundry essentials, and Attitude is home to everything you need to clean your bathroom.
Because big American cleaning brands dominate the market, finding Canadian-made alternatives can sometimes be challenging, which is why we created this resource. If you want to buy Canadian products whenever possible, don't neglect your go-to home essentials and everyday cleaning supplies.

"Made in Canada" vs. "Product of Canada" vs. "Canadian owned" vs. "Based in Canada"
Unlike at the grocery store, where "made in Canada" labelling is made clear, the origins of fashion, beauty, personal care and home brands can be difficult to decipher. Is "made in Canada" the same as "based in Canada?" What about a Canadian brand no longer 100 per cent Canadian-owned, like Hudson's Bay and Tim Hortons?
To satisfy a "Product of Canada" claim, Canada's Competition Bureau requires non-food products to meet a "higher threshold of Canadian content" (98 per cent). "Made in Canada" claims are subject to a 51 per cent threshold of Canadian content "but should be accompanied by a qualifying statement indicating that the product contains imported content."
When a brand is based in Canada or owned/designed by Canadians, that doesn't automatically mean it's made in Canada. Shoppers still choose to support a Canadian-owned or founded business, but its manufacturing may occur overseas. That said, buying from online and brick-and-mortar Canadian retailers can help support Canadian workers, too. Roots, for example, is no longer completely Canadian-owned, but its leather goods are still hand-crafted in Toronto, Ont.

BMO Favors MongoDB (MDB) for Non-Relational Database Strength, Sets $280 Target

MongoDB Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) is one of the best large-cap tech stocks to buy now. Although MongoDB's core strength as a modern, document-based database and cloud data platform is still intact, it has been facing growth headwinds recently, especially since the results for the fourth quarter of FY 2025 (FY ends in January), when it provided a weaker guidance. Its Q1 2026 results, reported on June 4, were a tad better. The company is aiming to secure larger enterprise deals, but questions around the durability of its growth trajectory persist. That said, on July 28, BMO Capital's Keith Bachman began coverage on MongoDB with an Outperform rating and a $280 price target. He views the company as a clear leader in the fast-expanding non-relational database market, underpinned by substantial technology advantages. A database administrator managing a large database, ensuring the client's data is secure. Bachman also believes that the company's potential to capitalize on the growing demand for generative AI workloads and applications could contribute meaningfully to the company's growth in the coming years. This long-term positioning supports his constructive opinion on the stock despite near-term uncertainty. MongoDB Inc. (NASDAQ:MDB) develops database software and provides database platforms for automating, monitoring, and deploying data. While we acknowledge the potential of MDB as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock. Tariff war accounting for 20% of price-hike requests from suppliers: Metro CEO

Metro ( president and CEO Eric La Flèche says tariffs and counter-tariffs are contributing to food inflation as the grocer continues to receive price increase requests from suppliers. Tariffs account for about 20 per cent of the demands for increased prices Metro is getting from vendors. So far, the grocer has approved price hikes on roughly 3,000 SKUs — individual products or product variations identified by a unique stock keeping unit code. Still, La Flèche says that its food basket inflation is in line with Statistics Canada's Consumer Price Index of 3.1 per cent. 'We'd like it to be two per cent, but we're at three per cent these days,' he said. 'We negotiate as best we can to minimize the impact on our customers in this environment where everybody's searching for value and everybody's more price sensitive,' La Flèche said. For now, he says, the effects remain manageable. Price increases related to the counter-tariffs established in March are also beginning to trickle into health and beauty costs. In response to tariff-related price increases, La Flèche says the company has been searching for other suppliers in other countries to minimize price increases and maintain quality for customers. Metro posted a third-quarter profit of $323 million, up from $296.2 million in the same period a year earlier. Earnings came in at $1.48 per diluted share for the 16 weeks ended July 5, compared with $1.31 per share last year. Quarterly sales reached $6.87 billion, up from $6.65 billion a year ago. Food same-store sales rose 1.9 per cent, while same-store sales in the pharmacy division climbed 5.5 per cent. As at 11:18 a.m. ET Wednesday, Metro shares were trading at $98.80, down 6.82 per cent.

Analog Devices (ADI) Sees Bullish Sentiment Backed by Sector Tailwinds

Analog Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:ADI) is one of the best large-cap tech stocks to buy now. In mid-July, Tore Svanberg, an analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, raised his price target on Analog Devices to $270 from $248 while reiterating a Buy rating. In his view, the prolonged inventory correction across the semiconductor sector over the past two years has likely reached its trough, setting the stage for a cyclical rebound. However, it is difficult to gauge how quickly the rebound will unfold. Within this report, Svanberg also communicated his broader sector outlook, which continues to favour AI-linked semiconductor names. He expects the AI-focused companies under his coverage to post median revenue growth of 32% in 2025 and 17% in 2026, thus underscoring the structural demand tailwinds in this space. Within that context, Analog Devices is seen as well-positioned to benefit from the upturn, supporting the case for maintaining an overweight stance in AI-driven chipmakers. On July 25, Christopher Danely from Citi had also published his latest report, where he maintained a Buy rating on Analog Devices, with a price target of $290. While analysts remain confident in the company, it is worth noting the positive perspective shared by Kovitz Investment Group Partners in its Q2 2025 'Kovitz Core Equity Strategy' investor letter. The firm cited several reasons for its long-term optimism on Analog Devices, including its leadership in key markets, robust 70% gross margins that help offset tariff impacts, and an irreplaceable talent pool of 11,000 experienced analog engineers. With the stock currently at an appealing valuation, Kovitz's portfolio managers believe that it offers a compelling opportunity for investors over the next five to seven years. The company is expected to report its Q3 2025 results on August 20. Analog Devices Inc. (NASDAQ:ADI) is a semiconductor company that designs, manufactures, tests, and markets a broad portfolio of solutions using high-performance analog, mixed-signal, and digital signal processing technologies. While we acknowledge the potential of ADI as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. If you're looking for an extremely undervalued AI stock that also stands to benefit significantly from Trump-era tariffs and the onshoring trend, see our free report on the best short-term AI stock.
