'Ne Zha 2': Michelle Yeoh Leads Voice Cast For A24's English-Language Release
Opening in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on 22 August, the newly dubbed release is set to feature Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in a lead voice role, though her exact character portrayal remains under wraps.
'I'm honoured to be part of Ne Zha 2 , a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be,' said the Everything Everywhere All At Once star in a statement. 'Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can't wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry and magic of this film on the big screen.'
The pic marks a rare collaboration between the two companies, and will be presented in IMAX, 3D, and other premium large formats. Written and helmed by returning director Yang Yu under the pseudonym of Jiaozi, it serves as the sequel to a modern reimagining of the mythological Chinese folk hero, who grows up to become the saviour of humanity from his roots as a rebellious demigod born to human parents and feared by the gods.
'After a great catastrophe, the souls of Nezha and Aobing are saved, but their bodies face ruin. To give them new life, Taiyi Zhenren turns to the mystical seven-colored lotus in a daring bid to rebuild them and change their fate,' reads the synopsis for Ne Zha 2 .
The original Chinese-language version is already a global fan favourite, setting a major cultural milestone with an impressive showing at the box office. It made history as the first animated movie to surpass US$2 billion worldwide, beating Pixar's Inside Out 2 (US$1.7 billion) in the process, and is now the world's top-grossing animated film of all time. The sequel also ranks as the highest-rated animated movie of the year on Rotten Tomatoes, and as one of the top-rated titles on Letterboxd for 2025.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Revival Reveals New Lead Character Details
Hulu's Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has officially unveiled the name of its new slayer: Nova. Earlier this year, Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed that Ryan Kiera Armstrong ( Star Wars: Skeleton Crew ) would step into the lead role for the reboot, with Gellar herself returning in a recurring capacity. ‘Superman' Soars Past 'Man of Steel' US Box Office, Is First DC Film To Hit US$300 Million Domestically In Years
In another major victory for DC Studios, James Gunn's Superman has reached new heights of success after surpassing US$500 million at the global box office. The latest comic book adventure is now the first DC film to cross the domestic tally of US$300 million in three years, with The Batman grossing US$369.2 million at the end of its run. Notably, the milestone puts it ahead of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel , which accumulated US$291 million in 2013, not adjusted for inflation. It should be noted that the overtaking only applies to the domestic market, as the latter stands at US$670.1 million worldwide. The Henry Cavill-starring pic was also the last solo outing for the Last Son of Krypton, who returned to the big screen in the 2016 sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . If all goes well, Superman will soon overtake its domestic haul of US$330.4 million as well. Now in its fourth weekend, Junn's film joins Warner Bros.' Superman has certainly borne fruit for DC Studios, living up to sky-high expectations as the launchpad to Chapter One of the rebooted cinematic universe. In it, David Corenswet ( Pearl ) takes on the role of the titular character, with Rachel Brosnahan ( The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ) portraying The Daily Planet journalist and Superman's love interest, Lois Lane. Meanwhile, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by WandaVision 's Matt Shakman and serves as the 37th title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). It stars Pedro Pascal ( The Last of Us ) as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby ( The Crown ) as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach ( The Bear ) as Ben Grimm / The Thing, and Joseph Quinn ( Stranger Things 4 ) as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, eschewing their origin stories for a new adventure in the retro-futuristic setting of an alternate universe known as Earth-828.
