Brendan Rodgers gives Celtic injury update on Jota and Schmeichel
Rodgers said the 26-year-old winger is making good progress, but has a "long road ahead of him."
He said: "Yes, he's coming along really well.
"I think we obviously sent him back to assess his fitness here and be with his family.
"I think the first 12 weeks of that injury, it's important that you get to a point where you can, in the nine to 12 weeks, that you're able to straighten it.
"So he can do that.
"He was in the gym.
"So yes, he's coming along well.
"Long, long way to go.
"But it's good to see him."
As for Schmeichel, who missed the friendly against Estrela Da Amadora, Rodgers expects him to be fit for the next game against Sporting Lisbon.
He said: "He missed today, and then be available for the next game."

Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres' £64m transfer 'linked to SHOOTING and blackmail' in Sweden - as police probe whether shooter tried to MURDER striker's agent's relative
Viktor Gyokeres' £64million Arsenal transfer has reportedly been linked to a shooting and blackmail plot in Sweden. Police are investigating why two gun shots were fired at the home of a relative of one of Gyokeres' agents in Huddinge, near Stockholm, according to Swedish outlet ETC. There are suspicions that the weekend shooting was connected to Gyokeres' move after the relative apparently bragged about receiving a slice of the cash. Gyokeres was at the heart of one of the summer's biggest transfer sagas, which ended with Mikel Arteta finally landing his man from Sporting Lisbon. It was also one of the most toxic episodes of the summer, with Gyokeres refusing to attend pre-season training with Sporting, and Sporting president Frederico Varandas insisting that 'no one is above the interests of the club' as he drove a hard bargain. Now, according to The Sun, investigators wonder whether Gyokeres' agent's family member was being 'pressured for money' in a sick blackmail bid and attempted murder in his homeland. A representative for the striker said: 'It is a very vulnerable industry where things like this unfortunately occur. 'This shooting has nothing to do with me or football.' Coincidentally, Sporting president Varandas said earlier this summer that 'blackmail and insults' would not persuade them to sell Gyokeres. At the time and with the context in which he was speaking, he had appeared to say that in reference to Arsenal and Manchester United's pursuits of the 27-year-old. Varandas insisted they would not accept an insultingly low offer - though he would not push for the full £84m release clause in the striker's contract. He said in June: 'I tried to take three days off, I came back yesterday. I saw so much information and counter-information that it is only fair to come and explain the process. 'It started last year, when the season ended and Sporting became national champions. During the transfer market we saw that he was going to stay because there was no offer. 'The agent spoke to us to add some clauses. Hugo Viana, as he always did, and very well, managed the relationship with the agents. This relational space is established with the sports director. 'One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the termination clause. Hugo Viana negotiated with the agents over several meetings until the agent demanded the presence of the president. 'At this meeting, which included the president, the agent and Viana, Gyokeres was not present. He wanted to guarantee certain things. And what was agreed? That Sporting would not demand a release clause now. For one reason: he was going to be 27 years old and no player leaves Portugal at 27 for 100 or 90 million euros. 'In that same meeting, the agent wanted to anchor the exit to a value. I said this sentence: 'It's not worth us setting a value because I don't know what will happen in a year's time. I don't know if it will be 40, 60 or 80. What I can guarantee is that I will not demand 100 million euros. From then on, I never spoke to the agent again, I never spoke to the player about departures or values. 'Now I see the agent in the press releasing information. I want to make one thing clear: Sporting has common sense and keeps its word. Gyokeres scored 63 goals and 10 assists. Fantastic performance. Certainly one of the best players to have ever stepped onto Portuguese turf. And Sporting will not demand the clause. 'Now blackmail and insults, Sporting will not accept. One thing is certain: Sporting will not accept 60 million plus 10 [in add-ons]. As of today, Sporting has not received any proposal for Gyokeres.'

Brendan Rodgers says what every Celtic fan thinks as Champions League playoff fate confirmed
The Parkhead boss reacted to the Hoops landing a trip to Kazakhstan to face Kairat Almaty Brendan Rodgers admits Celtic's gruelling 13-hour trek to Kazakhstan is far from ideal. The Hoops have been paired with Kairat Almaty for a place in the Champions League group stages. Celts host the Kazakh cracks at Parkhead next Wednesday before an exhausting 9,000-mile round-trip to Almaty the following Tuesday - five days before the first derby of the season at Ibrox. And Rodgers confessed he'd have preferred a short hop to Slovakia to play old foes Slovan Bratislava, who lost out to Kairat on penalties. He told Celtic TV: 'Of course, everyone would have preferred a shorter travelling distance, but they got through, they won the tie, so we'll play the first game of our two legs and our objective is to get through. 'We can really analyse them now and be prepared for the first leg next week." Celtic last faced Kazakhstan Premier League opposition when they survived a nervy fightback against Astana in 2017. The Hoops almost blew a 5-0 home lead by falling 4-1 behind in the Kazakh capital before two late goals settled the nerves. The Scottish champions eventually progressed 8-4 on aggregate but Rodgers recalled it was far from straightforward. He said: "No, it wasn't. It should never have been the case, but it's how football works. "Yeah, 5-0 in the first leg, we were very good. At half-time in the second leg, I think it was 6-1, it was one each at half-time. "So you're in a really good place and then before you know it, you've conceded three quick goals and then the tie's at 6-4. "So we'll do everything we can to make sure we get into the group stages." Skipper Callum McGregor played that night and experience tells him it's crucial Celtic make home advantage count next week. He said: 'It's going to be a tough tie. Obviously the travel and everything else comes into that and the preparation. 'We've got the home game first, and we want to try and maximise that, as we would against any opponent. "But it could be even more important now that we try and do the absolute maximum to get a good result at home, and then negotiate the travel. 'It's a tough team and we know it will be a tough tie. It's a good tie for us but one that we'll have to be at our best to get through. "The travel and everything else that presents, it will be a tough tie, no doubt about it. "So we'll have to go there. Hopefully, we have a lead from the first game, but we have to look after that first and foremost and then over the two legs, can we do enough to get through?"

Brendan Rodgers addresses Celtic's 7073-mile round Euro trip
The Parkhead side will welcome the Kazakh champions to Glasgow's east end for the first leg next Wednesday before navigating an ominous 7,073-mile round trip the following Tuesday for the return tie in Almaty. "Of course, everyone would have preferred a shorter travel distance," admitted Rodgers [Celtic TV]. "But it was not always going to be the case. "They get through, they win the tie. We'll play our first game over two legs, and our objective is to get through. Read more: "We can really analyse them now and be prepared for that for the first leg next week." Kairat defeated Slovan Bratislava, a side Celtic faced in the Champions League last season, on penalties to reach the play-offs. "It'll be a tough tie," said captain Callum McGregor. "The travel and everything will come into that, and the preparation. We have the home game first. We want to try and maximise that against any opponent, but even more so now, that we try to do the absolute maximum to get a result at home and negotiate the travel. "It's a tough team and it'll be a tough tie. A good tie for us, but one that we'll have to be at our best in to go through." Before the Kairat clash comes into view, Celtic take on Falkirk in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup on Friday evening.
