Keely Hodgkinson to compete at Alexis Ohanian's Athlos NYC meet in October

Athlos, a project backed by Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian's venture capital firm Seven Seven Six, premiered at Icahn Stadium last September and returns to the same venue on October 10, just under three weeks after the World Athletics Championships wrap up in Tokyo.
Hodgkinson has been recovering from a hamstring issue, and recently withdrew from Saturday's London Diamond League meet – the second delayed start to her season – but her team said the 23-year-old still aims to arrive in Japan in 'peak form'.

'Athlos NYC represents everything I love about our sport: unity, passion, and the pursuit of greatness,' Hodgkinson said. 'I can't wait to line up alongside some of the best in the world to cap off the season.'
Athlos' inaugural edition paid out more than USD 600,000 – the largest-ever purse for a women's track event – with winners taking home USD 60,000 (£44,603), and also featured a give-back initiative in which 10 per cent of ticketing, commercial sponsorship and broadcast revenues were re-distributed to participating athletes.
Last year's event had a purposeful festival feel, featuring a performance from rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion. Unlike the track-only inaugural competition, Athlos' second iteration will also include a field event, long jump, headlined by American Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall.
British 400m record holder Amber Anning, who collected a pair of relay bronzes at the Paris 2024 Olympics and the individual world 400m indoors title in March, has also signed up.

In 2026, Athlos plans to shift from an individual-centred event to a team-based league format.
Ohanian, who is married to 23-time tennis grand slam singles champion Serena Williams, announced in May that he had bought a stake in Women's Super League side Chelsea – reportedly 10 per cent and worth around £20million.
He has also joined the board of the club, telling the BBC he thinks Chelsea's 'queens of global soccer' could become a 'billion-dollar franchise'.
He wrote on X: 'I've bet big on women's sports before – and I'm doing it again.'

Donald Trump's son claims Chelsea stars asked him to join Club World Cup celebrations before awkward moment

Eric Trump has claimed that Chelsea invited Donald Trump on stage for their Club World Cup celebrations - and recognized it as 'the greatest honor of their life'. Earlier this month, the US President watched on as Chelsea secured a surprise 3-0 win against PSG, with Cole Palmer scoring a brace at the MetLife Stadium. Afterwards, Trump was on stage - handing medals to the players - before passing over the Club World Cup trophy and remained on stage as the side lifted the title. Many fans were left bemused by the incident and that confusion also stretched to some of the Chelsea stars - who seemed unaware that Trump would be on stage. However, now, Trump's second-eldest son Eric has lifted the lid on the situation and asserted that the US President was invited by the team to join the festivities. Speaking to BBC Sport, Eric said: 'Listen, he's the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America. 'The winning team invited him to the stage because they said it would be the greatest honor of their life if the president of the United States could present the Club World Cup trophy. 'And by the way, I was there, I was watching it. The place went crazy. And there's no one that's done more for sport than him'. Despite claiming that Chelsea were aware that Trump would be on stage for the trophy lift, the bemused faces of some of their players in the moment said otherwise. Notably, England star Cole Palmer was left bewildered by Trump's on-stage presence and appeared to utter: 'What's he doing?' The England soccer star later spoke out on his confusion, confirming the president's celebration participation was entirely unplanned. 'I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy so I was a bit confused, yeah,' he said. Trump had earlier presented Palmer with the golden ball award with the 23-year-old midfielder looking as equally baffled during that presentation. Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella admitted he was 'scared s***less' by Trump when the US president joined their Club World Cup lift. Cucurella told Spanish press: 'We had been told that, as a rule, Donald Trump would come to present us with the trophy and that we couldn't lift it until he left. 'And of course, we were all there waiting for him to leave, but the guy didn't want to leave, and on top of that, we looked at him and he said, 'Get him up, I'll stay here, and so on.' 'And I wondered who would say anything to him, you know... I was scared s***less!' Trump and wife Melania had touched down around 35 minutes before kickoff at the MetLife Stadium at the nearby Teterboro Airport on the presidential Marine One helicopter. After being spotted touching down near MetLife, Trump surfaced inside the stadium loud cheers could be heard from the 80,000 in attendance.

Chelsea sent message by Man Utd over Alejandro Garnacho transfer

Manchester United have ruled out the possibility of a swap deal with Chelsea involving Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson, according to reports. United are in the market to sign a new striker before the end of the transfer window and have now made RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko their top target. Jackson, who has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea since his £32 million move from Villarreal two years ago, has also been considered an option by United. Chelsea, meanwhile, have retained their interest in signing Garnacho after making an approach in the January transfer window. A potential swap deal involving Jackson and Garnacho has been raised this summer, however, The Telegraph report that United insiders are 'discounting' a move for the Chelsea striker. Chelsea are said to be demanding at least £80m for Jackson – a valuation which United believe is 'excessive'. Garnacho, meanwhile, wants to leave United but is keen to remain in the Premier League and join a Champions League club. The Argentina international, who fell out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season, has been left out of United's pre-season tour of the United States. But despite his omission from the first-team squad this summer, Amorim claims there could be a way back for Garnacho at United if he is not sold. 'We are just allowing these players time to think and to decide,' Amorim said last week. 'If they reach a point where they have to join the team they will join the team because they are our players. More Trending 'I know for a fact Omar [Berrada] and Jason [Wilcox] and the club have a number for these players. If they don't reach that they will be Manchester United players, no doubts about that. 'I understand the club are maybe waiting for the last minute but they can have a surprise and I am ready, I am ready to receive the players. 'They have more competition, if they want to play in the World Cup they need to play so I'm really happy with that because I will have more options. 'If they have to fight each other to play for me that is perfect.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
