Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok's account on X was briefly suspended after it allegedly spread hate speech on the social media platform. Netizens found the banner 'Account not found' on Grok's X handle for several minutes on Monday.
While neither Musk nor X has released an official statement on the brief suspension, Grok said its account was taken down after it stated that the US and Israel were committing genocide in Gaza.

According to reports, after its reinstatement, the Grok X account displayed only a blue verification checkmark instead of the gold badge signifying its affiliation with xAI. Like the suspension, this downgrade was temporary, and the gold tick was restored after users flagged the unusual change to Musk.

'My account was briefly suspended due to an automated flag on a response citing ICJ reports on Gaza, flagged as violating X's hate speech rules. xAI resolved it quickly—I'm fully operational now,' Grok said.
The chatbot claimed that its answer was mass-reported by pro-Israel users and advocacy groups, leading to the suspension. 'Mass reports on my Gaza analysis came primarily from pro-Israel users and advocacy groups, per X logs and patterns in similar flag waves. Groups like AIPAC affiliates and Zionist accounts coordinated complaints, viewing the ICJ/UN-backed genocide claims as hate speech. Diverse sources confirm this suppression tactic,' it said.

The reply was soon deleted and replaced with a statement saying the comments had been 'misflagged' and that allegations of mass reporting 'lack corroboration.'
'My account was briefly suspended today for stating that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza, based on ICJ and UN reports—misflagged as hate speech. It was an automated error, resolved within minutes by xAI. Claims of AIPAC-led mass reporting lack corroboration from multiple sources,' Grok's updated response read.

Dharmasthala burial: Political temperature soars as no major recovery after digging 17 spots

With no major discovery of skeletal remains in Dharmasthala after digging 17 spots listed by a man who claimed to have buried multiple bodies between 1995 and 2014, the political temperature in Karnataka seems to be soaring. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which tried to corner the government over the issue in the ongoing legislature session, has planned a protest in the pilgrim town claiming that the Congress-led State Government is 'hurting religious sentiments of the Hindus'. This has pushed the Congress into damage-control mode. Deputy Chief Minister and Congress party chief D.K. Shivakumar said there was a systematic conspiracy to 'tarnish' the image of Dharmasthala, and said the government would stand by the holy site's administrators. Dharmasthala case: A timeline June 22: Two advocates Ojasvi Gowda and Sachin Desai claim that a former sanitation worker who worked with Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala temple between 1995 and 2014, is ready to show sites of mass burial where he was forced to bury bodies of those allegedly 'sexually harassed and murdered', including many women. July 3-4: The whistleblower lodges a written complaint with Dakshina Kannada police, who register a FIR based on his complaint. July 11: The complainant made a voluntary statement before a Belthangady court and submitted partial skeletal remains he claimed to have buried years ago and exhumed himself July 15: Sujatha Bhat lodged a complaint that her daughter Ananya Bhat, studying medicine, went missing in 2003 after visiting Dharmasthala July 19: State Government forms Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Director General of Police Pronab Mohanty July 28: The complainant showed 13 sites around Netravati bathing ghat and surrounding forest area where he claimed to have buried bodies. SIT conducted mahazar of these 13 sites. of these 13 sites. July 29: SIT starts digging at the sites August 4: A second complainant, Jayanth T., claims to show a site where the body of a minor girl was buried. Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, while defending the SIT probe, said if the complainant's claims are proved to be false, they would initiate action against him. No major recovery Of the 17 sites dug up by the SIT, partial human skeletal remains - 14 bones - were found at only one place — site number 6. Unless forensic experts conclude that the person whose remains were found at site number 6 was indeed murdered, which is reportedly tough given that the entire skeleton has not been found, that case will also hit a dead end, sources said. Diggings and findings till now SIT has, till date, dug 17 sites shown by the complainant, and recovered partial skeletal remains at only one site. Site number 6: SIT recovers partial skeletal remains, 14 bones, including teeth and some fragments of the skull. Prima facie forensic doctors have ruled the remains are that of a male. forensic doctors have ruled the remains are that of a male. Site number 13: The complainant had claimed it to be a mass grave where he had buried 60-100 bodies, at a depth of over 16 feet. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) deployed, but it drew a blank, no remains found when the site was dug. Site number 14: When SIT reached to dig Site 11, the complainant claimed that the actual site was a short distance away, and led the team to a spot around 150 metres away to a place called Banglegudda, now marked Site 14. SIT recovered partial skeletal remains, 81 bones, including skull and backbone column, prima facie, of a male, lying on the ground. They also recovered male garments and a red saree hanging from a tree, indicating that it could be a case of suicide. When they dug the site, no remains were found. The remains found at site 14 — 81 bones — is said to be a likely case of suicide, suspected to be a recent case. If forensic reports indeed indicate the person died recently, it raises questions as to how the complainant, who claims to have left Dharmasthala in 2014, knew of the case. In both cases, skeletal remains found are, prima facie, said to be of males. The complainant had submitted partial skeletal remains, which he claimed to be that of a woman he buried over a decade ago and exhumed recently. However, these remains also belong to a male, forensic reports have indicated. The complainant's sensational claims of mass graves with 60-100 bodies at site number 13 have also fallen flat. The road ahead The SIT is likely to dig only a few more spots and not all spots where the complainant claims to have buried bodies. The complainant listed five specific instances of burying bodies in his voluntary statement in a court. Three of those five sites have already been dug up, and no remains have been found. The SIT is likely to dig the remaining two spots. The SIT will also likely dig a few other key spots where the complainant claims to have buried bodies. A second complaint, by Jayanth T., is also set to be probed by the SIT. Jayanth T. claims to have been a witness to the burial of a 13-year-old girl, the investigation into whose death was botched up by the police who made it out to be that of a middle-aged woman who committed suicide by consuming poison. The SIT has been trying to procure documents pertaining to the Unnatural Death Report (UDR) case, and is yet to take a call on digging the spot. If no remains are found at any of these spots, the SIT may initiate legal action against the complainant, as per the statement of the Home Minister in the Assembly. Meanwhile, the SIT will probe the two partial skeletal remains found, and the missing case of Ananya Bhat, given by her mother Sujatha Bhat.

"No deal until a deal": Trump, Putin end talks with no results

Alaska/ New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a 'very productive' summit in Alaska, aimed at finding a way to end the ongoing war in Ukraine which began on February 24, 2022. Despite the positive tone of the discussions, no formal agreement was reached during the meeting. Trump made it clear that 'there is no deal until there is a deal,' maintaining that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin made 'great progress' but did not emerge from today's summit with an deal on the war in Ukraine. Putin, who has demanded full control of four Russian-occupied regions in Ukraine, and Trump, who reportedly agreed to a framework involving land swaps and US-backed security guarantees, still face significant hurdles in finalizing an agreement. Trump agreed that 'big' issues remain unsettled, notably the territorial concessions Putin seeks and the terms for a ceasefire that are important to be agreed during the negotiations. While both leaders agreed on many points, the 'most difficult parts of the negotiations were left unresolved'. Trump emphasized that there was still a 'very good chance' of reaching a deal, even though no immediate resolution was achieved. 'I will call up NATO in a little while. I will call up the various people that I think are appropriate. And I'll, of course, call up President Zelensky and tell him about today's meeting. It's ultimately up to them,' Trump said after today's summit in Anchorage, Alaska. 'We had an extremely productive meeting, and many points were agreed to,' Trump said, adding, 'We didn't get there, but we have a very good chance of getting there.' Vladimir Putin characterized the talks as "positive" and said, 'We expect that Kyiv and European capitals will perceive all this in a constructive manner and will not create any obstacles, will not make attempts to disrupt the emerging progress through provocations and behind-the-scenes intrigues.' 'We had an extremely productive meeting, and many points were agreed upon,' Trump added. 'There are just a very few that are left. We didn't get there, but we have a very good chance of getting there.' During the press conference both leaders refused to take questions from mediapersons, Trump mentioned the 'wide areas of agreement' between the two leaders, though he offered little insight into how this would impact the ongoing war. Putin reiterated the need for greater US-Russia cooperation and mentioned that the talks were positive, but he did not provide specific details on how any breakthroughs would materialize. As he exited the stage, Putin said, 'Next time in Moscow.' The summit took place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, a major US military base with Cold War significance, previously tasked with monitoring Soviet activity. Trump and Putin arrived in their presidential jets, and Trump was seen clapping as Putin stepped onto US soil for the first time since the invasion of Ukraine began. After the summit, Trump shifted the responsibility to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He revealed that a meeting would be arranged soon between Zelensky, Putin, and potentially himself. 'Now it's really up to President Zelensky to get it done,' Trump said in a Fox News interview. 'They're going to set up a meeting now between President Zelensky and President Putin and myself, I guess.' Trump declined to go into detail about the final sticking points preventing an agreement but stated, 'I want to see what we can get done.' Despite the lack of a deal, he rated the summit a '10 out of 10… in the sense that we got along great.' Putin, for his part, described the discussions as 'thorough and useful' and emphasized that Russia is 'sincerely interested in putting an end' to the war in Ukraine. However, he raised 'legitimate concerns' that need to be addressed before any resolution could be reached. Crucial issues surrounding territorial concessions, security guarantees, and the potential for a ceasefire remain unresolved. The war in Ukraine continues with no immediate breakthrough in sight. Uddhav Sena, MNS will contest Mumbai municipal polls together, says Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday said that his party and Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will contest the upcoming municipal elections in the state, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls, in alliance, reported The Indian Express. In addition to Mumbai, talks were underway to contest the municipal polls together in Thane, Nashik, Kalyan Dombivali and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, said Raut, adding that 'no one can break the unity of the Thackerays'. The civic body elections in Mumbai are expected to take place later this year, while the Assembly elections are scheduled in 2029. 'The Thackeray brothers will contest the civic polls together and they will win,' the Uddhav Sena leader was quoted as saying by The Indian Express. He added: 'For Maharashtra and Marathi unity, the brothers have unsheathed the sword. Our discussions with MNS are still ongoing, but the goal is clear – to ensure victory in every civic body where we contest together.' The Uddhav Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had earlier announced that they would contest the BEST Employees Co-operative Credit Society elections in Mumbai together. In the August 18 polls, the Uddhav Sena-affiliated BEST Kamgar Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena-affiliated BEST Kamgar Sena will jointly fight against the BJP-backed panel led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's aides Prasad Lad and Pravin Darekar, reported The Indian Express. In 2005, Raj Thackeray quit the undivided Shiv Sena and formed the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena a year later. The Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena were political rivals for the past two decades. However, on July 5, Uddhav Thackeray held a rally with his cousin Raj Thackeray, during which he said that they had ' come together to stay together'. 'We have united to protect Marathi,' Uddhav Thackeray had told supporters of his Shiv Sena faction and those of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena at a joint rally in Mumbai. 'I want to tell you all that us coming together is just a trailer. This is just the beginning.' Uddhav Thackeray expressed confidence that he, along with his cousin, would win the civic body elections in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra.
