The Mummy Reboot Actor Joins Superman Star in Hit Apple TV Series
A new cast member has joined Presumed Innocent Season 2 alongside Superman star Rachel Brosnahan. Best known for roles in Midsommar and the upcoming The Mummy reboot, the actor's addition signals a fresh direction for the Apple TV+ legal thriller as it returns with a new case and characters. Jack Reynor to join Rachel Brosnahan in Presumed Innocent Season 2's cast Deadline confirmed, citing sources that Jack Reynor has been cast for the upcoming chapter of Apple TV+ legal thriller, Presumed Innocent Season 2, which is based on Jo Murray's debut novel Dissection of a Murder, set for release in 2026. Apple has not commented on Reynor's casting or provided details about his role. While Season 1 adapted Scott Turow's 1987 novel, Season 2 follows a new storyline. It centers on Leila Reynolds, a rookie lawyer assigned to defend Jack Millman. He is the main suspect in the high-profile murder of a well-known judge. The book synopsis states that Millman insists on having Reynolds as his attorney and refuses to speak. This puts her in a difficult position to uncover the truth while protecting her own secrets. David E. Kelley and Erica Lipez lead the series as showrunners. Dustin Thomason and Rachel Brosnahan, who will also feature in the upcoming season, join the production team. Jake Gyllenhaal, who led Season 1, reportedly remains an executive producer under his Nine Stories banner. Scott Turow serves as a co-executive producer. Season 1 featured Gyllenhaal as Rusty Sabich. It earned four Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Actor and Supporting Actor/Actress categories. The 1990 film adaptation, starring Harrison Ford, grossed over $221 million worldwide. Reynor recently appeared in Midsommar, The Perfect Couple, and Transformers: Age of Extinction. He will star in the upcoming season of Prime Video's Citadel and reunite with filmmaker John Carney for Power Ballad. Solve the daily Crossword

Warning over cold callers offering council repairs
Cold callers from legal firms are posing as council employees to get inside houses in part of Nottinghamshire, officials have warned. Mansfield District Council said those involved were in fact from "no-win no-fee" solicitors. Tenants of council houses were then being encouraged to open legal claims over repairs to their homes. The authority said it was concerned vulnerable people were being targeted and could be left liable for costs, despite initial promises. Hidden costs The council said it had evidence of the callers implying they had been sent to inspect homes for repairs. But this quickly turned into a pitch to sue for compensation under laws obliging landlords to carry out repairs within time limits. The authority said it currently faced 108 such claims, but insisted few got to court as repairs were carried out - and tenants could themselves face costs hidden in the small print. Simon Ford, head of housing repairs at the council, said: "Council officers would never just turn up on your doorstep, an appointment will always be made. "We are very disturbed that these callers are gaining entry to the homes of sometimes extremely vulnerable and poorly tenants. "The residents think they can win thousands in compensation with these claims, but most never get to court – usually because there is no case to answer. "Sometimes our tenants can even incur costs themselves along the way which are hidden in the terms and conditions of their claim." Follow BBC Nottingham on Facebook, on X, or on Instagram. Jack Reynor to Star Opposite Rachel Brosnahan in PRESUMED INNOCENT Season 2 — GeekTyrant
Jack Reynor (Midsommar, Lee Cronin's The Mummy) is joining the second season of Apple TV+'s Presumed Innocent, in which he will star opposite Rachel Brosnahan (Superman). Season 1 of the series was based on Scott Turow's 1987 bestselling novel, which was also adapted into a Harrison Ford 1990 movie, and season 2 is based on Jo Murray's debut legal thriller Dissection of a Murder, which is set to hit shelves in 2026. While Apple has the logline under wraps, the Pan Macmillan blurb for Dissection of a Murder reads 'When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she's shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn't be the kind of case she's leading; it's way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.' Reynor is also starring in the next season of Amazon series Citadel, and is reteaming for the fourth time with filmmaker John Carney on his next movie, Power Ballad. Reynor has appeared in leading roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction and Carney's Sing Street. Last year he was part of the ensemble cast of Netflix's hit show The Perfect Couple. via: Deadline
